Yeah, count me in among those who are regretting not picking up the figures when I saw them before. Especially because, when it comes to X Men Marvel Legends, I've really only been picking up the comic related figures that appeared in the old show, since that's what I grew up with and hold the most fondness over. But the updated 97 ones look really nice. I've noticed a few popping up here and there on a small sale, so I may snag some. Especially once they get around to Jubilee, Morph, and Sunspot, I may have no choice. I have the old Jubilee (though she could definitely use an update), but I've never had the latter two in the collection in any form.

Goblin Queen is almost sold out everywhere.  EE still has open pre-orders for her, and she's going in and out of stock on Gamestop.  Get her now before she's gone.

These X-Men 97 figures never really hit in my area. I've managed to pick up all on travels for work except Jean and Madelyn, but you got me scared on Goblin Queen @enigmaticclarity so I looked at BBTS and saw they had 6 in stock and I dropped one in the ole POL.

I just refreshed the page for her, and stock went up to the max (24+), so it appears they have plenty on hand for anyone looking at the moment.

I absolutely love the show and this figure line - great job by Disney & Hasbro!

Where does the name Goblin Queen come from? That hit me this morning - I have no idea what goblins she's the queen of, or how that name is relevant at all.

You never really know how popular a streaming show is, but this one is in the conversation like few others. Even LeBron James was asking about it on Twitter. Hopefully that means good things for the show and future figures.

I'm equally perplexed by the seemingly random choice of Madeline Pryor. In the show, it just came out of no where. Is there some kind of origin to it in the comics? Both Goblin Queen and Madeline Pryor just seem very random.

I liked the third episode more than the first couple in some ways, but it wrapped so quickly. Like, "I'm a clone? I guess I'll just move on." All in a tidy half hour. That seems like there should have been more internal struggle.

So, it was to tie her in to the Inferno, Limbo, Demon situation -   I don't know if Demon Queen sounded a bit too dramatic or maybe that name was taken elsewhere - or what went into the naming convention exactly.   Not clear why they went with Goblin specifically.

But definitely Limbo Queen elicited vibes of shimmying dancers in bikini beach party movies -  so it couldn't be that

I have not watched a single episode yet. Gonna wait til there is more episodes and find some way to binge watch it. However, if this show actually gets to the Mutant Massacre and do it justice within the confines of the rating system, I will be impressed. That and also force Wolverine to don the brown and tan outfit so we can get a pinless new version of Brown and Tan Wolvie. Also maybe a better rerelease of classic Sabertooth. Classic Betsy and more Marauders too since Sabes and Vertigo are getting lonely

I've bought all of the figures from this series, mainly to supplement the X-Men VHS set. I know it's inconsistent as to what figures have cel shading, but even if they don't, some figures have a distinctly animation inspired sculpt like '97 Gambit or color scheme like Rogue. Then I keep two versions for those who have distinct looks between the original show and the new show. So far:

Cyclops (VHS body with '97 head)

Jean Grey (VHS body with '97 ponytail head AND '97 with hair down)

Storm (VHS figure as is, AND VHS body with '97 head)

Wolverine (VHS figure)

Beast (retro card with lab coat until they make a '97 one with animated head)

Jubilee (VHS figure)

Gambit ('97 figure)

Rogue ('97 figure)

Bishop ('97 figure)

Morph (VHS figure)

Iceman (Amazing Friends figure)

Nightcrawler (Caliban wave figure with '97 head and tail)

Magneto ('97 wave one and two)

X-Cutioner ('97 figure)

Goblin Queen ('97 figure)

Mr. Sinister (VHS figure)

Mystique (VHS figure)

Apocalypse (retro card figure)

They summarized it so much in the show that it made almost no sense.  In the comics Jean Grey died in issue #139, and Cyclops left the X-Men following her death.  While he was away from the team in issue #168 he met someone who looked identical to Jean Grey as shown below (click to see a much larger image):

Madelyne and Scott hook up, they have Nate Summers in issue #201, and she exists in the storyline without her origins being known all the way up until issue #240.  By that point Jean Grey had returned, she and Cyclops were semi-together again in X-Factor, Nate went missing because Sinister stole him, and Madelyne is both pissed at Scott and looking for Nate, and she gets bitter and somehow turns to demons to help her find Nate.  I had started reading X-Men in middle school around issue #160 so I read most of these issues as they released, but I missed most issues in the low 200s so I don't really know how she got so into demons.  Maybe Magik somehow hooked her up with them?  I have no idea.

In issue #240 Sinister reveals to Madelyne that he created her as a Jean Grey clone.  As someone else noted Chris Claremont had slowly been building up to a Dante's Inferno-type story with a pissed-off Madelyne Pryor eventually using her associations with demons to become Goblin Queen with a vendetta against Scott for abandoning her and their child.

This wasn't Claremont's original intent for Pryor, so it's a ret-con by him since he did write all of those issues--although I think someone else forced him to come up with a way to bring Jean back for X-Factor, so turning Madelyne into Goblin Queen was part of his plan to establish them both as very different characters.   To summarize almost 100 issues of slow build in one episode is clearly a challenge, and really you don't get much out of it aside from allusions to those stories from the comics.

To be fair, the show went with an entirely different scenario. In the comics, Madelyn wasn't intended to be a Jean Grey clone, just someone with an uncanny resemblance to her. It wasn't till Marvel wanted to bring back the original 5 X-Men that the clone story came about. With the show there was no need for the Madelyn Pryor identity to even exist till the 2 Jeans parted ways because the clone was living Jean's life and thought she was Jean. Granted, they should of held off on giving the clone the name Madelyn Pryor till the next time she pops up, that way it'd feel less abrupt.

Wanted to point out that '97 Nightcrawler has only the torso and tail from the Caliban wave one. The head, arms, hands, legs, and feet are all newly sculpted.

Crunching that much story into one episode was quite a challenge, but as Norm noted they really didn't explain much about where the name Madelyne Pryor came from or how she suddenly became the queen of goblins.  It's a clear hole in the episode, but I already knew most of the back story from the comics so I wasn't too disappointed.

Yea, pulling the name Madelyn out of thin air was a bit rushed, like I said, would have been better to hold off on giving her a civilian name till the next time she appears. As for Goblin Queen, that one is less of an issue to me because of the nightmares and such that she used to attack the X-Men. Overall I was pretty pleased with the episode and thought it was a good intro to the character for someone like me that has never read Inferno.
