Headswap request!

Has anyone tried out Family Matters Quicksilver's noggin with the new '97 Magneto body? May work for a better comic look than the included heads.

@aceofknaves Since I don't own the Spiderman 2099 figure, had to look it up. I guess new 97 Magneto looks a lot like that figure using the 2099 buck as a guide for a pinless version. I like it and would not mind at all if they use that one some more. Like I said it looks like both the newly tooled Magneto figures have good profiles.

Just so we can phase out that "Sunfire" body with the tiny shoulders.

Neither Magneto is using that 2099 buck, the first is closest to the Spider UK buck but quite different and the second is on the new Vulcan buck

I haven't compared Magneto to the figures I have on the Vulcan body, but he definitely seems similar, if not the same sculpt. The legs (from the knee up) and the torso look the same to me.

It sometimes boggles my mind the level of nitpick some people have with their figures.   This complaint about Magneto's arm length seems silly.

But, also - I don't think it's actually true and is likely a bit of an optical illusion because of the glove design.   I just compared him to other Legends figures on my desk and Magneto's arms are slightly shorter than the Jae Lee Namor and the same length as the Black Panther from that Void wave.     At full extension the wrist cut is a little higher than the thigh cut -  with the Namor it's actually even.

I honestly don't think there's much 'there there' in this complaint.    It certainly doesn't bother me,  but obviously everyone is entitled to allow what ever pet peeve they have to ruin their potential enjoyment of a fun hobby.

I don't know, I think the first X-Men 97 Magneto definitely has some long arms. I don't have an extensive Marvel Legends collection, but this prompted me to just grab some and see:  Magneto (obviously), VHS Cyclops, Black Costume Spider-Man (with pins).

I measured from the top of the shoulder to where the arm ends at the wrist. I got for Magneto, Cyclops, and Spidey:  2.125", 1.75", 1.938". It's a small difference, but on this scale more than an eighth of an inch is kind of a lot. I will say that working against Magneto is his arms basically go perfectly straight, Cyclops' do not and Spidey has a slight bend. I then checked to see if there was any worsening of the effect via optical illusion by measuring from the bottom of the neck hinge (in the case of Spidey who has a double-ball I just eyeballed it) to the crotch and all three figures measure about 2.5" so no difference there. The end of Magneto's arms end just past his thigh cut which is not the case for Spider-Man. Cyclops has his thigh cut in a different place so it's not apples to apples. Magneto's big, thick, belt may indeed make his arms look even worse, though as stated, his torso is basically the same size as the two figures I used for a comparison.

Magneto, the helmeted first wave version, is definitely long of limb when it comes to his arms. For some it's a deal breaker, for others it's barely noticeable. I'm still personally more annoyed by his tiny hands.

So,  I appreciate this detailed investigation... but I think the conversation was about this Wave 2 Magneto and I don't believe he suffers the same issues you describe.   As I said,  the wrist cut on the Wave 2 Mags is well above the thigh cut, not below.

So, if the Wave 1 Magneto has long monkey arms,  that is another strike against him I suppose - but he's too small for my tastes anyway.   But Wave 2 Magneto doesn't suffer this same fate

I was always taught in art class when the teacher would discuss basic human anatomy that fingertips should fall about mid-thigh (and that eyes should be about an eye's width apart -- I'm looking at YOU Juggernaut wave Rogue).

That said I think Magento's may be a tad long but nothing I would have really noticed if it hadn't been pointed out here.

@panthercult I read it as people were resurrecting the wave 1 Magneto arm thing in contrast to the new one, which beget the conversation about arms being variable, and yadda yadda yadda. I could be wrong though. I don't have the wave two one, but I concur that it looks normal from what I've seen. And since he's basically a blank body, I'm assuming it's not a unique sculpt anyway so if his arms are on the long side then so are probably a bunch of other figures.

@misfit  Fair enough and in reading back through I think yours was a reasonable interpretation - so Yay! one of those circumstances where everyone is right  😀

Got Maddy today from Amazon. She is definitely going to be an expert shelf diver 😖

Considering switching her heels out for flats. I like the look of the heels, but with how unsteady she is, plus how tall she is next to others...I am fine with the change.

Other than that, I think she is a great figure. Never thought we'd get a version of her so soon after the Hellcharger failed.

Goblin just arrived.  Been slowly getting these in from Amazon over the last week, just have Jean outstanding.  Cancelled Kurt, pinless or not, there wasn't enough meat on the bones for me there.  The previous version still suits me fine, not a super huge Nightcrawler fan anyway.  Still I kept Scott even after de-cell shading the VHS version last year for the optic blast head.  Magneto was a wanted variant of mine for a while and this one works fine as a comic version.  While it's not a 100% match, the hands on the wave 2 Mags works OK on the wave 1 figure if you want a more comic accurate classic Magneto.  At least to my old eyes and crappy interior lighting it works, YMMV!

Hyperbolic. I can nitpick a figure without having it ruin my enjoyment of a figure, much less the hobby.

I don't understand why people are so precious about action figures. Lodging a few criticisms isn't going to kill anyone.

I was taught the same. Magneto's fingertips fall somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 of the way down his thigh. As I said, they're definitely long, but it isn't as noticeable in person.

I'm not planning to pack up my collection and throw it in the trash, but things could change. If Ka-Zar's legs are too long, that may be the final straw.

My comment was admittedly a tad over the top, and it wasn't aimed at you specifically as there were multiple people talking about the arm length issue...

And though I respect you a great deal we have wildly different tastes in action figures anyway -  I mean, you like Mezco 1/12th stuff and I'd rather be water boarded than collect those, so to each their own.

It's fine to keep holding out for the platonic ideal of the perfect figure - though you'll consistently be disappointed or have fresh criticisms.    I don't spend time in the Mezco threads because I abhor their figures - but I don't need the people who do enjoy those figures to know all of the reasons I can't stand them.    I've no reason to yuck their yum, so to speak.

At the end of the day this is a hobby that helps me escape from the rigors and disappointments of the real world so I tend not to be hyper-critical because I find it counter productive.     Handling little plastic representations of the comic characters I love brings me joy, so admittedly I tend to focus on the positive.

You're right, though  -  your criticisms won't kill anyone, and you're free to make them

I did say this in the same post:

I opened my Magneto today, too. I'm always surprised by how much I like the figures on the new bodies (though I shouldn't be, they have almost all the articulation I've been calling for for years). Magneto's long-ass arms aren't as noticeable in person. My only real issue with the figure is how much the cape limits the head articulation, but I plan on swapping it out for a soft goods version anyway.

Between Vulcan and RYV Spidey, I wish I had more reasons to buy Marvel Legends. Maybe their release schedule will coincide better with my want list in the next year or two.

I can find room for criticism and joy in the same figure. If you want to stay positive, I get it.

Mezco is much more hit-and-miss for me now than it was when the line started, but that's a conversation for another thread.
