Recent boog interview confirmed there's more 97' to come, so that's nice to hear

What specifically was said? I'm guessing there's a another six-figure wave with spoiler characters.

Just a generalized there's more to come, and Dwight would love to do even more beyond that because it's all so good, nothing specific, but the enthusiasm and response was very reassuring

What BAF do you propose for a TV show that hasn't even had it's first trailer released.

Apocalypse, Blob, Juggernaut, Colossus. I'm sure any or all of those will make an appearance at some point. Give them an animatedish style head and basically reuse the bodies they already have, maybe with some pinless tweaks and different colors. I could see them doing that. I mean, they won't on the special cards, but if it were a BaF wave, those would probably be on the list of considerations. Hell they could even do the big ass Sabertooth everyone wants as a BaF realistically since Colossus can be one.

I've been trying some head swaps for these figures. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I'm starting to get a better sense of my preferences. Obviously, there's the long hair head swap from the Sauron wave Bishop onto this body, which is excellent. I swapped the head from retro white Storm onto this body, and I love it, despite already loving the new animated head. I swapped the retro Rogue head onto this body, and it sits high. I think I prefer the animated head, which while it does look a bit too animated, at least it's a pleasant expression, as opposed to the kinda pissed expression of the retro head. I also tried the head from the green/black costume (Outback Rogue?) and it looks ok, but doesn't quite fit around the jacket collar. Haven't tried the ponytail modern heads yet, but I don't anticipate I'll like them.

None of the characters you've listed have been confirmed to appear yet, in any capacity, and if they do, nobody knows what costumes or redesigns they will be receiving.

Which is why they stuck to the figures they chose, as there was already promotional material released showing what they will look like. They're single carded, no BAF's, because that's the lineup they had to work from, and I'm sure this being a Marvel TV property, they've had their fingers in it stating what Hasbro can and cannot do in terms of initial character selection.

As for a wave 2, if it's confirmed we're getting one I bet it'll be the rest of the poster characters.

I'd be more than happy with an updated Jean.

I would really love a Jean with that middle part hairstyle. Best she’s ever looked in that costume. I tried to do a swap on one of my extra Love Triangle Jean heads, using modern Mystique’s hair, and it looked lame, but also because I don’t like how they handled Jean’s faces on that figure. Those huge lips really turned me off and didn’t look at all like Jean or how she was ever drawn by Jim Lee or the animated series. She’s really gotten the short end of the stick for this costume and it’s time she got a pretty head.

Yep.  I've watched all of the NYCC interviews, and Dwight said in two of them that there were more X-Men 97 coming.  Boog was one, and I forget the other.  During the other one that wasn't Boog as Dwight was saying it Ryan looked at him with one of his "WTF?" glances and then said "I guess we're doing teases now."  😆

Being overly secretive never made much sense to me. Obviously they have to worry about NDAs with the MCU, but why not tease out future comic waves? Maybe keep specific characters close to the vest, but the rest just builds hype.

That would suffice for her Onslaught / Joe Madureira look where she wore her hair like that.  I'd gladly substitute out Sunspot here for an animated Nightcrawler.  At least with Morph I'll get a chance at a better head for my AOA Morph.  Definitely don't need any more Jubilees after the last couple years though.

New Jean figure on the body with double jointed elbows? Yeah, that would be great. I hope they also fix her hair color this time. I would like a Jubilee on a new body as well. New coat, pinless, better head sculpt. Cyclops and Morph - probably just a reissue without shading. Reuse old Morph head.

I think we'll see those figures for sure. But speaking of the others, I have no idea. Maybe new Cable, Nightcrawler or even Forge.

We really need a new Mystique figure, though. All the previous ones are looking pretty bad now. Crooked skinny legs, single joints, etc.

I know they haven't been announced. You just asked what BaF would be proposed they could do. I was proposing those as choices, considering they'd be easy reuse like some of the wave is already and most likely shoe ins to appear at some point lol.

I know, hence why I said add new animatedish style heads, possibly pinless joints, and new colors. That's literally what they did with most of this wave. Everything but Bishop and Magneto are retooled or reused from the VHS or older Vintage card line, with new heads, pinless joints, and different colors, some only just shades of colors. And those were released recently as well. It's not unprecedented for Hasbro to rerelease a BaF or deluxe style figure shortly after its initial release in a new format. And they know people will buy it, cause of whatever reason, maybe better colors, or better expressions, or better heads, and some people actually care about pins and pinless. I could absolutely see them redoing Apocalypse with a new head or different colors. That would be a Hasbro thing to do.

Is that Roberto in the orange and white jacket?

Not sure I want a powered down version of him in figure format, although it does look like a 1997-accurate figure of me with worse dress sense.

But why would they have done an animated Apocalypse as a BAF in this wave if animated Apocalypse saw a carded release this year?

The more I think about it, I think Beast is definitely a shoe in for wave 2 since his recent rerelease with the lab coat lacked the animated style head from gray Beast.
