I am happy to see the new sculpted lower portion of the trunks. Finally addressing the banana hammock issue.
@hbhfback why does that render have more proportionate arms? That's quite a difference to my eye
I couldn't find the 97 Wolverine figure in the stores, so I had to order it online.
Just got Rogue and she looks so much better in person! I was planning on swapping the hair from the retro card version, but now I'm thinking I'll keep her as is.
I can wait for a comic upgrade that will probably definitely happen eventually.
There's no way they made new sculpts and don't plan on re-using them for comic versions. It's happening. I wouldn't be surprised if we get the whole Jim Lee team in 3-packs, similar to the training uniforms.
I was really just referring to Magneto there, but yea I wouldn’t be surprised if they did that either. I couldn’t care less about the Jim Lee team though, even though that’s what I grew up with. Always been more of a pre90s fan. Gimme that Outback! Give me that Byrne! Gimme that X-Factor! 🙂
I’m with ya, not interested in more 90s/Blue and Gold time to fill out other rosters and eras.
But between the new ‘97 toon, the VHS series and the amount of near constant posts asking for slight tweaks and rereleases for newer collectors there’s some demand (though Target Rogue and Gambit and Beast retro fan channel were until recently still very available).
I’d be glad if Hasbro would just rerelease the standard comics versions in sets or whatever and be done with them.
I have mixed emotions about this wave so far. Not a fan of the way Magneto and Gambit turned out, so much so that I returned them(still closed). However, Wolverine and Bishop are really nice.
I'd say this is the best Legends Wolverine to date. Really like the maskless headsculpt. Claws are good as well.

Magneto is really disappointing with how small he turned out. I like him overall, but he's almost in a different scale. His head is so small. I wonder if they misjudged his size due to how wide his cape is so his overall aspect ratio shrunk.
My only other (very very minor) issue with Wolverine is the way the stripes on his shoulder/chest arch outward toward his arms rather than going straight down or arching inward. It looks like that matches the cartoon art, but I never remembered the artwork being that pronounced. Although I've been reading some nineties Epic collections and started to specifically look for that, and it does look like a lot of artists draw it that way, though for some reason I never noticed it before.
Got Wolverine and Magneto today—these are great!
Wolverine just improves on my previous favorite, the animated version. Perfect Wolverine to me.
Magneto is really nice. Not as small as I was expecting, although I do wish he was the size of the Vulcan body. But it’s a great Magneto.
I was seeing all the discussion about Magneto's size and was expecting something drastic. But I don't really see the issue, personally. Magneto's always been just a regular muscular dude, anything wildly buff and gargantuan was just a product of Jim Lee's art, which TAS followed suit with. And X-Men 97 seem to have toned all that down.
I think the new Magneto works fine as well since the size matches previous releases & most of his comic appearances.
I haven't seen enough talk about how the leg change for Storm has dramatically increased her poseability -- she can really hit a lot of nice flight poses since the new range of motion allows her legs to criss-cross. She also doesn't have the warped/gummy leg issue when standing that the Wasp-type legs suffered from. The face & mohawk sculpt are really well done too -- adding some gray into the hair & the head could function well for the 80s punk look where they depicted her mohawk with a ponytail end often (Silvestri did, anyway).
I'm slightly underwhelmed with this wave. Something seems to have gotten lost in translation with these figures because as much as they match the likeness of the new cartoon based on what we've seen thus far in the promo images, the figures themselves no longer feel like an extension of the Marvel Legends line. At least not in the same way the previous VHS series have for Spider-Man TAS and X-Men 92. These figures almost feel like a kids toyline and I'm not feeling like I want to collect more of these. I'd rather spend the money on other Legends because these are far too vanilla.
I got these this week and was like "why, why did i buy this wave" but I found there's just enough different about each that I genuinely like 'em. the paint is a little dull, there's some mediocre bits to them, but having them in hand? They're kinda nifty. I like the cartoon claws on Wolverine, particularly, and having not followed the critiques about Bishop I actually really like the new head sculpt. I thought he was just going to be a reprint of the figure we got a few years back in that Deadpool wave.
They're not my favorite versions of any of these characters, but I'm no longer annoyed at myself for preordering.

Yep, I went from "just Wolvie" to ending up getting all of them except Storm (Just never liked the white outfit). It's a good line; I like all the colorways and am surprised at just how much I love this Bishop in particular. No regrets.
