I'll probably get Bishop and Wolverine eventually. Wonder if Krakoa era Bishop is on the horizon for Legends after seeing that headsculpt?

Much as I love Gambit as a character, this version seems more and more like the X-Men vs. Street Fighter depiction of him (but with shorter legs).Β  Wolverine is really the only one I'm somewhat excited for.Β  Wish they had left off the goofy painted half-@ssed stubble, which upon inspection of various review videos appears to be on Gambit as well.

I think she's supposed to be like 15-16ish there?Β  I can't remember, it's been a while since I read it.Β  But she starts off as a baby in the first issue of that Billy Tan run, and then in each future issue, there's a time jump and she's a little older.Β  But yeah, I'm assuming Hasbro would tone down the cleavage if they ever did that costume.Β  As they should, I'm not saying I want a "sexy" costume for her.Β  I just want one that's not a variation of a Logan costume.Β  I realize she's his clone, but I'd still like her to have more individuality than to dress like him.

Β

Like I would be cool with it if they updated one of the ToyBiz X-23 figures:

I actually tore mine apart to make a custom version before Hasbro made the 2 they did. I did put her in the tank top look but I didn't paint her cleavage all the way down. And I didn't like the paint I used, it looks a little choppy. But matching her skin tone was absurdly hard. I honestly may even take off the chest skin paint and just leave it closer to her XForce figure. But since Hasbro did the ones they did I really don't care that much anymore.

Bishop is really the one I would consider getting at full price. He looks good. I have the 3 pack Magneto and he's good enough for me. Better then the other 2 I have lol. But the cape is just, impossible. I know it's hard to make his cape look good and be functional as well with the way its designed. But it's just an ornery mess. If I were rich a wired cloth cape for him would be top of my action figure extras splurge list. They run like $40 or so for a good one. That's more then the figures are (until next year lol).

Browsing the Target promotion, noticed that my local store has 6 Bishops, Gambits and Wolverines.

Seems Target chose Storm and Rogue to not sell in stores for this wave. Which makes... Target sense.

Not Gambit, who is STILL available on their website, but the women. 🙄 🙄Β

This is their third attempt at the "classic" Magneto and he still looks goofy as hell. He is too small for 90's Erik. Even in the cartoon he was pretty big. Arms are too long (I know it's your fault again, Dwight), head is too big or his torso is too small. It's still the best Marvel Legends Maneto, but he is not really impressive.Β

Wolverine looks great, though. It's their best 90's\Jim Lee Logan figure. I will only get him, Gambit and Storm (can't stand the old one and her gummy legs). Not really sure about Rogue. Magneto - on sale purchase only.Β Β

Those image links weren't working for me - I took the liberty of fixing them so your photos can be shared!Β

EDIT: Looks like they're showing up tiny-sized. Bah!

And he has big feet.Β  Third time I had to mention his feet in a post 🤣 .Β  I bet some will have an issue with his pink lips when they get him in hand.Β  Gosh, Magneto is somewhat of a mess.

I found Magneto, Wolverine, Gambit, and Bishop at Target today, solid sets of 6 for each, and Storm arrived from Amazon simultaneously. Just waiting for Rogue to ship, which Amazon is saying this week.

Storm is so nice. I like her a lot, especially the hair and head sculpt. From some pics, she looked a little chubby in the cheeks, but that doesn't come through in person. The new body works well for her. I like that her legs can come together much closer than other recent female bodies, without any modification. The cape is still cheap.

Bishop is the best of all of them. He really towers, but his unique body sculpt (or at least unique looking, thanks to separate parts like his sleeves and stuff) makes him stand out a lot. I don't know why he came with two left trigger grips, but they're definitely different from each other. The attached one has a wider grip with in/out hinge, while the two unattached grips both have up/down hinges. And he has a right fist. All hands have sculpted glove details.

Gambit is mostly reuse, but the coat and head are new. The head really reads anime, so I don't love it, but I can live with it. He has the same standard Gambit accessories, hand throwing cards, one glowing card, and his staff. Least favorite of the wave, but only because he's so redundant.

Wolverine feels almost identical to the VHS figure, but pinless. The unmasked head sculpt isn't awful, but I'll use acetone to remove that stubble once it really bothers me. His left claws came bent in package, but that should be easy to remedy. His blues are not a match with the VHS figure. His boots are sharp and new, I think, with treads sculpted around the perimeter. Just wish they did his shoulder pads like War Machine/Baron Zemo.

Magneto isn't as bad as he looks in photos. Short, but not super short. Had him eye to eye with VHS Cyke and there's a noticeable difference, but it doesn't bug me yet. Not as much as the red hands, which also don't bother me as much as anticipated. Definitely could have been a taller figure, but I guess the pinless joints are appreciated.

This is a solid wave, though not a fantastic value. I understand there's lots of new sculpt here, but I'm getting annoyed that they're charging as much for these as they are figures that come with BAF parts. The value isn't there. At least the quality is good, even though these figures seem so redundant.

I really love the packaging of this wave. I have the Retro carded figures (and I still want all nine main characters on those cards, Hasbro!!!), but I'm seriously tempted to keep a set of these because they are so pretty I feel bad ripping these open!

Are there any rumors yet on Wave 2? I'm guessing it's Cyke/Jean/Jubilee, hopefully Beast, probably Morph (that checks all the characters from team art) and either Sunspot or a villain?

Given the Funko PoP leak, I'd bet money there's a Goblin Queen release in the pipeline for a future wave

I was able to snag the set over the weekend and while I wasn't overly excited about any of the figures (outside of Wolverine, for fangirl reasons) the entire wave is extremely solid. Every figure is well executed and I didn't have any QC issues.

Wolverine, being my most anticipated of the wave, is fascinating because just how much is new here and how much improved it is "technically" from the previous releases - but also kind of the least impressive of the bunch. Like - yeah the new pinless joints are better than the VHS one, but the masked head and claws from the VHS one was the most notable improvement from the old Juggernaut wave (and love triangle 3 pack) one and this just carries those improvements over and slaps them on a very similar new body.

It's the sort of thing I'd almost tell people to not even bother upgrading if you already have the last one unless you ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE pinless bodies or are Wolverine obsessed fans like me. It's absolutely excellent, but so have pretty much all the Logans in this line.

I kinda wish this masked Wolvie head sculpt was more expressive. This face is about as calm as I’ve ever seen Wolverine. I’m betting the yellows will match other masked heads, but it’s another missed opportunity to give more creative options. Even the slightest sneer would have been acceptable!

Oh my god, could they maybe have considered finally giving Gambit a hand that can actually grip his staff tightly??

That’s a bummer about Magneto being shorter. I just wanted him to use the Vulcan body.Β

But Wolverine sounds great from the descriptions. I loved the animated version. Upgrading him to pinless would pretty much make him perfect to me.Β
