You also reminded me that I still have TB Nick Fury displayed for exactly the reason you state - that head sculpt is absolutely perfect.
He just left my shelves for consistency and I struggled to do it. Considered moding the head on a Hasbro body and still might but it seems Hasbro is doing a new one in a 3 pack if rumors are to be believed. They should expand that set and include a Steranko red (or purple) and white Contessa Valentina. Or make the single 3 pack two 2 packs.
ML2 Thing's head looks so good, I think Alex Ross uses it for reference. Either that or the sculptor (was it Phil Ramirez?) used Alex Ross' art as reference.
ML 2 Thing is my Ben for pairing with the Marvel Select FF. He's actually the right height there and has the classic chops to look good with them. Much better than the massive MS one.
Fury is one of the few that I actually don't think looks too out of place, except next to other SHIELD agents since the coloring is off. Not having ball hips goes a long way to helping him fit in!
ML2 Thing is indeed still an awesome Thing figure, though definitely eclipsed by Hasbro's efforts (except the head).
Classic Iron Fist, Werewolf by Night, Man-Wolf, Mandarin, BAF Giant-Man (soon to go) - that might be it.
Dear god is that Toy Biz Man Wolf figure bad though. I love that character and desperately want a good Hasbro version. I have that Man Wolf but that figure is terrible. The action feature is stupid but it's the head that just straight up ruins it. I mean... look at this thing in profile
And I get that the recent Legends Avalanche wasn't perfect - but at least it's recognizable as Avalanche. That Toy Biz figure is just a random design they slapped the Avalanche name on... I hate that thing so much.
Oh yeah it is definitely bad. I guess I'm using "display" pretty loosely here - I actually do have all the figures I named on display *except* Man-Wolf, but only because I currently have a very limited two Detolf situation to keep my collection from taking over my office. If/when I have a dedicated space for it, he'd be in the mix. But yeah, he's pretty rough.
Agreed about Avalanche. He might as well be Mephisto for all the he resembles any version of Avalanche in the comics. It was a pretty well made figure with a ton of detail - which only made it all the more irritating they didn't make him comic accurate!
ML2 Thing also got the texture right. Flat plates is how I picture him, not thick rocky plates like Hasbro has been doing. If ML2 Thing had ball hips and not T swivel hips, he’d still be in my display.
I hate that Man Wolf figure nearly as much as I hate XMC Avalanche.
Isn't that what the giant A on his belt is for though? So you can tell he's Avalanche? I mean, I can't think of any other character ever in the history of ever to have an A on their costume.
That was sarcasm. I still love the figure but I get now why people don't. I think one big thing for me is it was my first and only Avalanche figure, even going back to the animated series figures in the 90s. And I always liked his portrayel in XMen Evolution. It made me sympathize with him and care about the character, instead of him being just one more bad guy with a shiny suit and a bucket on his head, cause there were quite a few of those. And all the detail and coloring on it. It just looks badass to me. The new one, while accurate, still looks like shiny suit villain with a bucket on his head number 3.

I'd love to see a pic of how ML 2 Thing looks next to the Select FF. I like the Toybiz Thing, but not crazy about the rest of the Toybiz FF. And I like the three newest Select FF figures, but not crazy about the Select Thing.
I still have my TB Thing up, the best one, still. Even though I am tempted to get the newest blue and white Hasbro one, if/when I see it again. On a side note, shall we take the Toybiz discussion, and make it it's own thread, and keep this the Wolvie 50th anniversary thread. Maybe try not to derail off the topic that much?

Obviously an unsatisfying long distance shot. I'll try to get a better one when I'm home later tonight.
@yojoebro82 I don't display, but I'm not parting with my TBs anytime soon. They can sit in storage until they turn to dust.
Yeah, I'm not getting rid of mine. It's one of my all time favorite lines. They go into a box most of the time, but I keep on going back to them now and again.
As a collector who's trying to trim stuff down, it does make it tough. Ideally I'd like ONE green Hulk, not one green Toybiz Hulk and one green Hasbro Hulk. But that's currently an impossible choice for me at the moment.
Avalanche might be the most boring member of the Brotherhood. His costume, powers, and personality have never stood out to me.
I haven't thought about it in literal years, but that ML5 Nick Fury figure probably holds up well. Aside from the useless baby hands and lack of torso articulation, it's a decent figure.
I love that the FF are such a mix-and-match team in action figure form. My big dilemma is that I still can't decide if I want to replace my classic blue-and-blacks with the Future Foundation looks whenever Hasbro makes them.
@yojoebro82 Here's at least a more in scale shot if not actually better. Sorry don't really have my limited photo stuff out. He actually scales a tad bigger in person. Reed is on his stretchy torso, etc. About a Kirby scaled Thing to a MS at least.

Oh that's pretty. I had my eye on those 3 figures already and pairing them with series 2 Thing never crossed my mind. Now I may have to pull the trigger.
Here's how I mostly roll with Toybiz/Hasbro: I've rebought just about all the X-Men that matter to me (because I'm an X-Men guy) with Hasbro versions. Ditto the A-listers of the Marvel Universe--your Caps, your Hulks, your Iron Mans--most, if not all of the B and C listers I have Toybiz versions of and either like them enough or just don't care enough to replace--here we're talking Dr. Strange, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Silver Surfer, MODOK, a few others.....
I'll mix and match them too. I mentioned I have a TB Bishop in with an otherwise all-Hasbro X-Men display. I'll also pair A-list Cap, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk from Hasbro with B-list Hawkeye, Vision and Ant-Man from Toybiz and it looks just fine to me.
Female figures are all Hasbro......as much as I like TB, their females, with just a couple of exceptions, are rough.
Most of my "street level" figures are all Toybiz and their "rough around the edges" aesthetic works well for characters that are creeping through alleys or crawling on top of buildings. The series 4 Punisher looks like a dude who's going to get down and dirty in a back alley to take out the trash. Hasbro stuff has a more smooth and polished aesthetic which works well for your spandex superheroes (X-Men, Avengers). As for Thing, I have the TB version with the trench coat, so he's in with my street level guys. But that coat can just as easily come off to pose him with those Select FF figures.
There. Now you know.
FYI MS Human Torch is the wonky figure of the trio. He’s very thin and too tall. Particularly long neck. But lots of rad flame accessories. Reed and Sue are both stellar.
I agree with Basil, we should bring the discussion back on topic.
Wolvie vs Sabretooth set in stock at DJC. I believe this is the first vendor to have it in hand. They have X-Men 97 wave 2 in stock as well.
Edit: Price is in Canadian dollars!
I hope these don't all hit at once in the US. I don't have the money for them all just yet.
