Pinless brown-costume Wolverine and armored Psylocke is such a beautiful idea that it brought a tear to my eye.
I either want Hasbro to do the whole team - or none at all.
And honestly, I had figures of the whole team, that matched (more or less!). I sold them off. Kept Nightcrawler, Phoenix and Jean (the zipped up ponytail version I FINALLY bought during the pandemic).
But they might sell as well as the GOTGv3 wave - which appears to be not great. A wave is too samey, so a boxset would be the best. With a cool base!
That said, does anyone remember the figures coming out way after the first movie? There's a whole bit about that in the new "MCU" book I read over the holiday and I don't remember not being able to find figures.
It may have been different for retail releases, but I recall randomly bumping into the first wave of X-Men movies figures at a random comic shop in 2000, probably a couple of months before the film was released on July 14th. I was pretty blown away by the awesome packaging and really being able to get a good look at what, exactly, my favorite comic characters were actually going to look like onscreen. I only purchased Wolverine (naturally) for the novelty of it since I still didn't know how I felt about all of the costumes and designs, but I do remember genuinely enjoying the sculpt and articulation at the time. We were still about 14 or 15 months away from seeing Spider-Man Classics series 1, which ultimately changed the way mass retail toys are made and led many of us down the dark path we now walk. 😆Β

Patch and Joe Fixit are up on Pulse.
I wasn't originally planning on getting Patch and Joe Fixit, but it's a neat looking set so I preordered it on Amazon. May change my mind, but that's why I like Amazon. Very easy to cancel.Β
The Patch/Fixit set is iconic enough that I had to order it.Β Β Glad it was available on Amazon.Β Β
Β
That was the last of the revealed Wolverine sets to go up for pre-order, right?
I think so! Did they say there would be more Wolverine stuff to come later though?
Also, welcome back Fwoosh. I missed ya.
Always need a daily Fwoosh fix.
Patch and Fixit are a must get. Iβm digging most of these two packs. It will be a big splurge when these all hit in March/April. May hold off on a couple packs and see if they go for a little less.
Pinless Orange/Brown would be welcome. I do want more supporting Wolverine characters.Β
I bet thereβs a Deadpool 3 costume Wolverine figure this year too. I can see a Deadpool wave with Honey Badger being worked in and maybe Dakken.
Thwipp!
I want Daken in jeans and a white wife-beater shirt, with ALL THREE claws. Basically I want street clothes Daken, Mohawk out, and all. Also, I'd like a redo of the X-Force costume X-23, but with better articulation, and toe claws.
My big want is the Astonishing costume. I would hope they single pack it because I would want multiples for all the teams he was on at the time. But if they had to pack with someone, Iβd say Kitty is the easiest, but give her long hair down. Colossus is also pretty universal, just make his shoulder flares cling to his shoulders. Beast would need the most work, so probably least likely. Iβd want them to put the work into Wolvieβs suit so it has the sculpted seams and details Scott got, not just a smooth Wolvie body.
The only Colossus I would want is a redo of the XMen Classics version that was the outfit he wore at the beginning of the Astonishing run. It looks classic but has a little less flair.
And the could reuse some of the Beast figure we have now for astonishing. The arms and hands, and probably feet could work. And they could probably use the upper torso and try to fit it on a new lower torso with the suit. But, ideally that should be all new, maybe with a swivel joint like the previous one. Honestly the last Astonishinf one doesn't look awful. But alot of the articulation choices limit what it can do. And it's too small. I honestly still really like the XMen classics Beast figure in the grey jumpsuit with the gun. Why he has a gun, cause toys probably. But the figure itself is still really nice. Some of those XMen classics didn't age well, but a couple of them are still pretty good. Like Avalanche and that Beast. If the trenchcoat Sabertooth didn't have that stupid action feature he'd be a good one too.
Now that I know Honey Badger is a thing, I actually want one. But odds are she'd have to be all new cause it looks like she's only 10. And I'd feel ripped off if she didn't come with a ton of shit since the figure would be so small. But I doubt she's even on their radar. And I think she's dead? Not that that matters for most toys. But I think I read on her wiki she's dead. It's just like that, mixed with everything else, like needing a new scultp, and being a D list character, all working against her.
Daken needs an upgrade. Probably on sunfire. Old ones body is shit. But the head is nice. That's the body they were using for Spiderman and Quicksilver back then. AoA Sunfire was on it too. So if they wanna keep him in the same weight class, which is where I think he should be, Sunfire with new pinless joints, maybe jeans and a tank of some sort. But odds are it'd have to be brown suit or shirtless. Doubt they'd wanna make a whole new figure just for him too. So a repaint, with new parts they can use on other people later.
The full Astonishing roster can't come soon enough! Really looking forward to building that team, and hoping they find a way slip in Armor, Ord, Abigail Brand, and maybe even a new Danger.
I also still love that old X-Men Classics figure - Stealth Beast! He came with classic and cat-Beast heads. An all-time favorite desk figure to pick up and fiddle with, and he fits in nicely with a Secret Avengers display despite not being comic-accurate to anything I"m aware of.
oooo Bone claws with Exodus would be great.Β A.L.B.E.R.T. is my top want for Wolverine, but that would be great as well as Team X.
Β
I remember Andy Kubert drawing Post, some herald of Onslaught that bone claw Wolverine fought.Β Now that would be a deep cut.
I'd like a shirtless Outback Colossus as well. I now subscribe to the theory that characters with visually distinctive looks or powers should show more skin. The Thing, Colossus, Beast, etc.
I also have conflicted feelings about Piotr's Soviet history now. With the sliding timescale, Colossus wouldn't have been born until well after the Soviet Union fell. It probably makes sense to move him away from that motif.
Man this new 2 pack Sabertooth has doomed the Apocalypse wave Sabertooth.Β All of my $9.99 ebay auctions I began last week have at least one hit, except Sabertooth.Β You're only going to be able to move this guy if you sneak him into a lot.
