@h-bird - The Toybiz ones were painted around 17 years ago, so don't judge me too harshly on that. 😆
They still look good, and I love the variety of different drones in the display! Gonna have to pick some of those up I think. I even considered getting some Heroclix Broods to have little baby-Broods in the display, though I'm fairly sure they hatch bigger than that. I wonder if NECA or anyone else ever made any of the eggs from the Alien franchise? Might be cool to have some of those sitting in with the Brood.
Thanks for following up with the pic! And for the reminder that the MS Phoenix effect is still great - the ML one is gonna have a hard time usurping it.

Man, you made me spend money! I have a ton of Alien eggs, so why not buy a couple "baby" brood (that I didn't know existed) to go with them.
I really want Broo, the little schoolboy Brood from Wolvie’s school.
I'd buy Broo.
The Lilandra 2-pack arrived today. Yeah, she's pretty much perfect. Great sculpting all around.
Brood Wolverine.... Ok, wicked head sculpt, but what a waste of a slot. That head could have been packed in just like the original head for Lilandra was. So many other non-released Wolverine's could have been made, or an updated X-23/Wolverine.
Yeah, this set really should have been Lilandra and Fangverine. I'd have kept that figure. Broodverine went directly into the trash. I had less than zero need for that.
Shouldn't have thrown it away. Someone might be willing to but it, and you could recoup some costs.

IMO, Lilandra should have come with Sh'iar Xavier or maybe Deathbird. Wolverine should have been the orange/brown costume on the X-Men '97 Wolverine buck with either Outback Storm or Outback Psylocke. Hell, why not make it a three pack. We would be much closer to that Outback team.
After Hyperion got a redo, an updated Gladiator would have been nice
So I picked up the new Astonishing Wolverine figures from the 85th anniversary wave, and I've hit this weird brick wall. Usually when I'm within striking distance of finishing out one of my favorite eras or teams, I have this irresistible urge to read the comics centered around that team, but I don't possess a ton of Astonishing X-men era books. I dipped right around the time that Messiah Complex hit shelves. Between my collection of Astonishing X-Men comics as well as the Uncanny books that were coming out around that same time, I have maybe 16 books. (so figure 8 books per title) So if any of you have any suggestions of any supplimental material I could read, please feel free to give me like a top 10 or top 20 list of stories that you might recommend. Oh and I should point out I also have the House of M event, the Cable & Deadpool omni and I own Wolverine: Enemy of the State parts one and two. once I dive back into X-Men from this era, I'll be sure to include those in my supplimental reading. But any other books you guys could recommend would be super helpful
If you don't mind reading comics online, read the full Astonishing X-men here:
You know what, I think it is time to reread Astonishing X-Men for the 100th time. Thanks for the prompt!
hmm I don't own a tablet now but this might be an option in the future. Also Chicago Fan Expo is getting close so as long as I can find a few titles here and there, I'll be able to pick up a couple books at the con.But most of these books that I own are from the first 24 issues of the series, plus the ancillary stuff from Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men and whatnot. And I don't have any of the issues from either the Rick Remender or Simone Bianchi runs.If you don't mind reading comics online, read the full Astonishing X-men here:
Wolverine wore this when he joined New Avengers while still on Astonishing X-Men.
This costume came back a little more recently when Uncanny Avengers started up with Rick Remender and John Cassaday too.
I found a lone Astonishing Wolverine dangling at Target. I may be the only X-Men fan not looking to build the Astonishing team. The figure looked good, though. I'll definitely be interested when this buck gets the brown and tiger stripe paint jobs.
@raybot I'm aware of his role in the New Avengers, I bought the omnibus like a decade ago. Funnily enough though when it came to Wolverine's astonishing costume I was never a fan of the redesign. I thought it was kind of unneccesary since its so close to his older tiger stripe costume (which he only ditched a year or two prior at the time of the Astonishing suit's debut), why not just wear that? Also the suit is overly busy to the point where sometimes I cant tell which suit Wolverine is wearing when I'm looking through random, uncatagorized images of his exploits, because I have to train my eye every single time.
Having said that, the figure looks great, and I'm willing to acquiesce my misgivings about the suit and read through some astonishing era comics and brush up on my X-Men lore, even though I'm still 20 years behind.
Oh and for the record....none of you are ever going to get me to dip my toes into the Krakoa era stuff. Seriously fuck that....I don't need it. That era took too many influences from the Battlestar Galactica reboot to even remoitely resemble the X-Men and I'm so glad its over.
