Why did he lose his nose when he went feral? I didn't read that story, but know that Magento's removal of his Adamantium was the catalyst for him going feral, and the firs time readers saw that he has bone claws under the metal. But I don't get why his nose became a casualty of that situation.

You might all be right, it's not like there's only gonna be one more Wolverine in 2024 :pΒ

Anyways, I picked up my Sabretooth pre-order from Gamestop yesterday. Seems like all the Canadian fan channels have this in stock now. For what it's worth, GS Canada updated the Joe Fixit & Psylocke sets from placeholder dates to April 5 & 26 respectively. The Lilandra set remains with a May 1 placeholder date.Β

I kind of prefer the Pre-Feral era for bone claws Wolverine when he was mostly maskless but had that huge mane of hair from #75-99. The very next Omnibus volume features those exact issues with a few extras. It will be nice to revisit that era. I just hope Marvel keeps pumping out volumes and likewise, hasbro seriously commits to all variations of Logan from the 80's to the 00's because those years featured some of my favorite costume designs for Wolvie

The very Adam Kubert look that he cultivated then while fighting Cyber, Bloodscream and everyone else who stopped by to try to kill him once he was sans adamantium.Β  Kubert's run directly after the metal was ripped from Logan's bones was a veritable "This is Your Life" gameshow episode for the canuckle head, as we got so many guest stars, from Gambit, to Maverick, to Deadpool, plus all of the scarier more intimidating villains from Logan's past.Β  I feel like AOA Wolverine / Weapon X was inspired by Adam Kubert's depictions but it's probably one of the uglier Marvel Legends heads from that line.Β  I would love a properly battle damaged Wolverine (not just some mask with a few holes in it, like what Kubert and Dwayne Turner used to depict in Wolverine comics

As for how he "lost" his nose, Magneto ripped the adamantium off Logan's bones, since then his healing factor had been in a constant state of keeping the poisoning from the metal at bay, now Logan's healing factor was unleashed at times and acting wonky at others.Β  Two years later he still didn't have it back as The Dark Riders had skinned Cyber (who has adamantium skin for those unaware) using some sort of robotic beetles to gnaw away all the flesh and bone while he was locked up in a cell.Β  Wolverine shows up at one of Apocalypse's old techno-pyramids and finds the Dark Riders and Tyler Daysping (Genesis) waiting for him.Β  Wolverine is captured and Genesis begins the Cliff Notes version of adamantium bonding process using Cyber's adamantium.Β  Wolverine's amped up healing factor rejects the process (which has been said could kill him) and it shoots out of his pores like shrapnel killing one of the Dark Riders.Β  Cannonball, who's come to look for Wolverine and try to bring him home is left in a darkened Pyramid with a very pissed off and very feral version of Wolverine that has regressed into a sort of caveman / dog / werewolf creature that begins killing the Dark Riders one by one before going after Genesis.Β  Cannonball fears Logan's humanity is lost forever.

Issue #100 was fantastic despite depicting a major disappointment that Wolverine would not be getting back his adamantium.Β  From there Marvel seemed to backpedal on making Logan into a noseless caveman, though he did wear a blue bandana most of the time, and a red bandana a few others.Β  By the time Operation Zero Tolerance had rolled around Logan is pretty much back to normal, and even doing surgery on Cyclops to remove an explosive that had been implanted in him by Bastion when he was captured.Β  Apparently unsanitized bone claws make for a useful field scalpel.Β  Ironic, since Marrow was also unofficially on the team and nearby as well as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.Β  Maggott's slugs ate the explosive before it could detonate, in arguably the one and only instance where having Maggott around has proven useful.

I'd like a feral Wolverine figure as depicted either in Wolverine #100 or the Uncanny X-Men Onslaught era, any other depictions I remember weren't that cool looking and more or less resembled a pirate caveman.

@jtmarsh I love those pre-feral Wolverine books. Wolvie standing up against Juggernaut in the bar is one of my all-time favorite panels.

You found much better artwork of the feral look than I was able to! Those shots are great. It's probably too much to hope they give him a stockier body to match that look, but one can dream.

I never liked feral Wolverine, as a plot device or character design. It's where I checked out on X-Men comics for a long time, only coming back when the Ultimate Universe was up and running and getting praised. That said, I'll be very surprised if Hasbro doesn't do a feral Wolverine this year. It just seems like it's now or never given their marketing push and how 90s nostalgia appears to be at its peak. I would guess they do Onslaught era Wolvie, but they hopefully give him two heads so he can feature the more monstrous, unmasked, look that some might prefer.

Yes to all of this. Also I hope this is not a controversial opinion, but out of all the 90's artists who drew Wolverine at the time, I prefer Adam Kubert and Lienel Yu over all the other artists like Andy Kubert, Jim Lee, Joe Mad and Marc Silvestri. Adam Kubert's work just felt like it had the right amount of polish. And Yu is always great at drawing some really dynamic and visceral stuff. Also I like John Royle's work too. he worked on a Wolverine one shot called Wolverine: Evilution in 1994 and his art reminds me of J. Scott Campbell's work

I hope these don't all hit at once in the US. I don't have the money for them all just yet.

Β

They absolutely will. It's likely the Wolverine two-packs, X-Men '97 wave 2, Angel deluxe figure, and the newest Spidey retor card wave will all hit within a few weeks.Β

I'd also love a SCUBA wolverine based on the 90s Toybiz version but I'm skeptical they'd make that.

Β

Ahem.... this is SPY Wolverine, thank you very muchΒ  (Scuba indeed)

Honestly this is a thing I hate most about Hasbro -Β  the feast/famine shipping schedule.Β  Β  It happens with G.I. Joe Classified too,Β  whether there is a lull for several months and then everything lands at once.Β  Β Spread it out just a little bit and help me out,Β  Hasbro.

Also if that Daredevil/Hydro man hint that Dan Yun left on his Twitter is to be believed, that pack should drop some time around Easter.

Β

And I agree that the next upcoming Wolverine tease is most likely him in the brown suit, but something tells me that being the 90's kid that Dan Yun is, its likely to be the X-Men #1 variant suit from Jim Lee and Chris Claremont's run with the X insignia on the buckle. Still, chances are equally as high that it could be Albert, Weapon X, Team X, First Appearance , Bone Claws, Battle Ravaged, Capcom or even the purple and blue stealth suit from the cartoon. Any of those designs would look incredible on the pinless body.
