According to the rumored leak list, there is an all MCU Thunderbolts BAF wave slated for late 2024 to coincide with the film release. Presumably comprised of all of the film TBolts members.

However, the ongoing Writer's strike has delayed projects, including the Thunderbolts film.

Just for funsies, let's say you are the creative director at Hasbro and decided to cobble together an all-comics TBolts wave to take the place of the film wave, saving the film wave release for a later date when the film is actually released theatrically.

You have from right now until December 2024 to produce a BAF wave from conception to manufacturing to packaging to shipping. You might not have time for a lot of sculpting.

Who would you choose for your fantasy Thunderbolts wave given the time constraints? Would you choose the comic versions of the film team, or include any of the TBolts from any team roster?

I'd go with characters that don't require a lot new tooling outside of a new head and minor sculpting:

Meteorite

Techno - borrowing weapons from heavy artillery figures, Reavers, etc.

Jolt

Ghost - straight up re-release of the boxset figure, maybe swap out older parts for newer parts.

Mister X

Ogre

BAF - Grizzly (my initial choice would be Charcoal, but that would probably never happen)

This would be cool. 😀 Joystick would be cool, too.

I want my original Thunderbolts team! Plus Jolt.

Citizen V on a better, bigger body and colored purple, with alt unmasked head. You know he's getting another release.

Meteorite with all her crazy detailing and big hair - her silhouette very closely resembles the new Warrior Gamora figure and I could never figure out who this Gamora reminded me of until just now.

Techno

Jolt

Instead of another Songbird, maybe a Screaming Mimi? With an alternate screaming Songbird head that isn't ginormous.

Throw in an updated comic Taskmaster also on a better body.

BAF - Atlas but I want him Super Adaptoid Size. I would take a six figure wave if it meant getting a bigger BAF.

Where is this rumored 2024 leaked list, BTW?

I’m sure it will be all MCU, but I don’t envy Hasbro, I think we may have Eternals 2 on our hands with this one.

Love the premise, Beamish! I just read Thunderbolts all the way from Osborn's team during Civil War through the end of Cage's team + the Dark Avengers run that ended things. Definitely in for as many more Thunderbolts as we can get!

I think you picked a solid lineup based on the criteria you laid out. I'd probably swap out Meteorite if she can't get a new sculpt as I don't think her costume is going to translate to figure form without it. I'd be tempted to slip an updated T-Bolts Luke Cage in there as well if we could find a better body for him as the Hyperion buck never sat right.

If we can ignore reality and just wishlist, this would be my dream Thunderbolts wave:

Techno
Meteorite
Swordsman
Penance
Headsman
Troll
Centurius
BAF Atlas

That still leaves a ton on the table but it would be very cool to flesh out several iterations of the team at once!

Probably not enough reuse, but I'd want:

Techno

Meteorite

Jolt

Ghost

Satanna

Troll

Swordsman

BAF: Atlas

The first run of Thunderbolts is an all-time favorite. I considered it a real downgrade when they just became Marvel's Suicide Squad.

With Citizen V, Songbird and Mach-1 already out, my wave would be:

Meteorite (duh), Jolt (on a new teen buck that we'd need for New Mutants anyways), lightning bolt buckle Hawkeye, female Crimson Cowl, the second Scourge, and the robo-Techno BAF.

Then Atlas would come as a deluxe release on a desperately-needed new articulated 12" buck.

Loved the original Thunderbolts run. I’d love everything mentioned so far.

My top picks:

Mach V or later model armors

Screaming Mimi

Meteorite

Swordsman

Techno

Ghost— I might go with a classic version now. Or a fully pinless upgrade of the prior modern figure.

Baron Zemo and/or Citizen V using Vulcan body

Yelena Widow using the new Black Widow body

BAF: Atlas

I completely lost interest in the Thunderbolts when it got to the point of Luke Cage and Red Hulk leading the team, but the first two or three incarnations were among the most unique and original things going for Marvel at the time.

Would love a wave dedicated to the early versions of the Thunderbolts.

  1. Ghost (classic or upgraded version of previous figure)
  2. Techno
  3. Meteorite
  4. Photon (Genis-Vell)
  5. Jolt
  6. Harrier
  7. Gypsy Moth

BAF: MACH-II or MACH-III (versions of his armor after this were too much, IMO)

DELUXE: Atlas 12" (maybe the could do 16", I'd get that)

Wouldn't mind seeing upgrades for Blizzard and Radioactive Man, either.

I would HATE for the entire wave to be all MCU Thunderbolts. Hasbro should have learned their lesson with doing an all MCU Eternals wave. That stuff is still dusty on the shelves. Hopefully Thunderbolts is a hit, but will it be that big of a hit to sustain an entire wave?

I don't collect MCU figures so of course I'd want some comic Thunderbolts to make it into the wave, but pointing to Eternals as an example of how MCU figures perform is unfair. The GotG3 wave and other all-MCU waves from movies that were well received seem to do just fine, and the lineup for MCU Thunderbolts is full of mostly-known commodities that should allow Hasbro to better gauge interest in who should get a figure. I'll be happy if they release some comic Thunderbolts alongside the dedicated movie wave.

This will almost certainly be an all MCU wave. I would be shocked if it wasn't.

@e-rock Same. They clearly have enough characters to fill a wave, and as was pointed out the cast is mostly known characters so it's not like Eternals.

That said, I think there's only two I really want. I liked Taskmaster's design more than the BW version, but I know it was concept art so we'll see. I also gotta have... the one new character apparently appearing. Yelena is a solid maybe.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do some comic releases along the way though. And yeah, maybe even sneak out a wave to fill the void created by the strikes. Or they could put out some sets with the figures they've already done. Yelena and Red Guardian, Bucky and Ghost or something. Sorta like when they put out the Wanda and Vision set again before the Disney show, and the Infinity War Bucky/Falcon as well.

I am just hoping they do Val and any new major characters. I will buy Yelena and such too, but Thunderbolts is I think best bet at Val in particular getting made
