Yeah, if anything, Hasbro has been forced to work around Disney - i'm sure they've had product in the pipeline that's been held back/pushed back because of mcu-related delays.  Other than mcu Man-Thing, which feels like something they're putting out just to have SOME mcu product available aside from upcoming mcu Deadpool/Wolverine merch

OK, so I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but I just found out that the current Hellverine is actually Logan's son Akihiro/Daken/Fang/DarkWolverine. I had no idea and just assumed it was Logan, and I think that it was in an older storyline but is now his son. This actually makes that figure quite a bit more interesting to me because we haven't had a figure of Akihiro since 2012 as Dark Wolverine with the mohawk, during what I would consider the dark days of Hasbro. Hellverine was the only figure in this wave that I originally passed on, but I just changed my mind and pre-ordered it.

Edit: For what it's worth the description on the packaging say that this this is intended to be the Logan version:

While on a mission with Johnny Blaze to investigate a new Weapons Plus program, Wolverine becomes imbued with darkness as the Weapon of Vengeance.

Not invested in the characters in this wave but nice to see some supernatural choices for a change. I have the old TB Blackheart so no interest in this one. I pre ordered the Marvel Drac hope they get around to Colan Tomb of Dracula in the future. And would like to see some more Midnight Sons as well.

Dwight said he'd been wanting to make Dracula in this look for a long time, so there's definitely at least one character Hasbro did want. Not sure about this being a "Disney agenda" wave, as I don't see anything that would obviously be getting a marketing push right now. Lilith, Son of Satan, Dr. Voodoo (again) and Blackheart don't strike me as high on Disney's "please make toys" list.

Yes the only slightly synergistic choice I can see here is Blackheart because of the new MVC collection, and even that was highly likely a coincidence.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

But they would not, could not and did not.

So that's that.  Money saved.

Truth be told, if they drop a Capcom Blackheart after this BAF, this BAF will likely drop in value.  Potentially cheaper than what people are thinking collecting the set or just the parts would cost.  So people will likely have plenty of choice unless these are figures you just HAVE to have.  I've largely talked myself out of all of them and decided I don't need to be a Ghost Rider completionist.  I'm happy with just Danny Ketch, Blackheart will either end up in the collection or he wont.  Such is life.

Aside from Brother Voodoo, this wave makes me optimistic that we'll get everything you posted! No reason they can't do the classic Son of Satan if they're making this other version, and this fits with the MO of other releases - a more modern version first, and the classic next. Colan Dracula is hopefully similar, with no hangups or issues using the Dracula name, and nothing holding them back from the Colan version. That Lilith is a different character, but seems like she could be made just as easily as the other one.

Brother Voodoo is the biggest headscratcher of the wave (and in quite a while, in my opinion). Three releases of the same costume is two more than I ever imagined he'd get - so when will they get around to that classic look?

You can say that again. This would have been a "take my money, please" situation for me instead of a "I'll buy a Moon Knight and call it a day" situation.

Worth noting that the much-delayed MCU Blade film still has Mia Goth signed to play Lilith, Daughter of Dracula, so if they can get their act together and get that film going, the chances of the classic Dracula family (and other classic monsters) goes up considerably.

Eh, we'll see. I would've said the same about Mantis, Adam Warlock, Nebula, etc. And yet.

It's hard to accept with some of those glaring omissions, but the MCU-exposure does seem to work out with other characters. Ikaris, Gorr, Ronan, Yondu, Drax, Sam Wilson Cap, Sharon Carter...But maybe we'd have some or all of those by now anyway regardless of their MCU status - hard to say!

And hey, we have an Adam Warlock figure from the modern Hasbro age. We need at least two more (classic Starlin and Infinity Watch) but we have the one!

I'm honestly expecting the Blade project to be outright cancelled soon. It's rumored that the main actor, Mahershala Ali has gotten tired of waiting and has agreed to join the Jurassic Park/World reboot in a key role which would make him contractually unavailable for the MCU Blade movie for quite some time (years). From what I've seen online that will likely be announced very soon, possibly as soon as this week. No one can blame the guy. He's basically had to block off his schedule for the past 5 years since this project was first announced and not be free for anything else - at some point it had to be expected he would just want to get back to work and make some money. Whether you want to blame the writers/actors strikes, Marvel Studios or whomever, it's hard to fault the actor for wanting to finally just move on.

I’m honestly more excited about the idea of Mia Goth playing Lilith than the specific project she would do it in.
As for the actual Blade movie: well, I want Dracula everywhere, MCU very much included, but I just don’t know what a Disney Blade movie would even look like. I’d prefer a straight 70s grindhouse take, many would want something that harkens back to the Snipes films, who knows what Disney wants, and Ali evidently wants an impactful, culturally-relevant film.

Not a lot of synergy there.

Anyway, mostly just want my 70s monsters.

The "Disney Agenda" can be a couple of things, both of which I think are at play here.

1) Disney often uses ML to presage a media appearance (can be movies, TV or even comics). But as we all know, Marvel is very good at changing dates and screwing Hasbro over in the process. A lot of these characters sould be set-ups for Blade. I've heard at least one version of the script has Bro Voodoo in it, for instance, although now that they've lost another director and cast, who knows? Also heard Cap America will start to set up a new Avengers, which I'm told will include Moon Knight. Hellverine is a tie-in to current comics, but hardly anyone reads comics anymore (sorry, I know some do, but according to the retailers I talk to, only a fraction of regular buyers are opening the comics they purchase, they're mostly collecting variant covers and / or buying out of habit).

2) But more relevant here is Hasbro almost-always giving us non-classic versions of characters before getting to the ones most of us want. This bad business on many levels, and, IMHO, is intended to stretch out the license instead of satisfying the fans - they know collectors will buy placeholders. It's also why a lot of figures don't sell at mass market retail. Look at this wave; Moon Knight & Hellverine are probably the most-recognizable mainstream characters / versions of a character. Dracula could've been, but not this version. As noted in the post above, it sure would be swell to get classic Drac, VooDoo, Hellstorm, & Lilith. Never mind WBN and the other 70's Marvel monsters. Even in their classic versions, a lot of these are deep cut charcters. How many versions does whoever is responsible for these choices think the market can bear before we get to the classic designs? In the case of Brother Voodoo, at least three, apparently. Guess we'll see how they sell, my money is on "poorly".

PS: I'll add that Man-Thing probably only exists because they could make the MCU version with re-use from the comic version and he can stand-in for the comic version for fans who can't afford the old BAF.

At least THREE more! We need a bronze age Gil Kane 1st Appearance version of him too, which Hasbro will love because SO MUCH re-use.
