For that reason, if a character was released on the Spider-Man 94 cardback I would be very surprised if it gets a re-release in the VHS line.
Well...
We have Symbiote Spider-Man on a retro card rereleased in the VHS line. He was on the new body, but still.
Green Goblin was rereleased in the VHS line on the new body on the bucky cap body.
Peter Parker was also on a retro card, rereleased in the VHS line.
Daredevil (in his other costume) on a retro card rereleased in the VHS line.
MJ\Gwen - same thing, just new body.
From the first wave of Spider-Man retro cards we only missing Electro VHS rerelease. Then there were Mysterio, Black Cat and Jameson as fan channel. Maybe that's the clue. Electro and Jameson on VHS, Then Animated Mysterio and I don't know...Black Cat.
We also getting new Carnage figure on a retro card, and he already was in the VHS Line. So who knows at this point.
@aleks maybe it's a relatively new thought process then and doesn't apply to the early retro card figures. It does align with how they did an Apocalypse in animated colors in 2022. I admit I have no idea when the retro Kingpin was done as I don't follow the line, but it certainly looks like Dan at least considers the current retro card stuff to be essentially an extension of the animated line. Even if it clearly doesn't make sense for all of the retro card figures (and of the wave to come, really only Scarlet Spider applies as the rest either never appeared in the show or looked very different) to be thought of as "animated." My guess is it's really more of an argument to suit their needs, "Oh you want an animated Hobgoblin? Oh we already did that on retro card. Retro card Green Goblin? Oh no, he's from the comics. The VHS Green Goblin is the real animated one!"

I also heard we are getting a new Venom and Carnage 2-pack and I would not be surprised if it was based on the 1994 Maximum Carnage retro card design and the figures were cell shaded to look like Mark Bagley's designs. though in the case of Venom I would really prefer if they used the Movie/Knull venom body but with normal feet and no wings. Mostly because it already has the perfect venom logo and the size and articulation are excellent
Doc Strange and Morbius two-pack and Prowler revealed.
Prowler looks incredible, but that body is outdated.
Doctor Strange and Morbius 2-pack and a single release Prowler.
I feel like everyone hates what the cartoon did to Morbius, but I can't tell if it's genuine hate or if people ironically like it and will buy a figure of him. It's an odd pairing though to put him with Strange when an animated Black Cat or plain Felicia Hardy seems like something people really do want.
Sign me up for that Strange/Morbius pack. Strange in his purple tunic is how I was first introduced to him so it feels correct.
Is Mordo a Freudian slip of what you really want? Or was the common first three letters too easy to to confuse with Morbius?Sign me up for that Strange/Mordo pack. Strange in his purple tunic is how I was first introduced to him so it feels correct.
I'm gonna get this set just out of completion's sake, but also to swap those pinless Strange legs onto my comic Strange. What is it that people don't like about animated Morbius?

Glad to see you still thrive off of being insufferable!

not really what I was going for, but I sincerely meant no harm.
I am both excited and relieved to see Morbius. I was worried the film killed his chances. He was easily my #1 want from the animated line.
We almost close to build Insidious Six, where is Chameleon or Mysterio or Vulture? This just pisses me off, because I'm sure the next set will be that orange Dr. Strange and Harry, because why the fuck not.
Christ Hasbro...I was joking about orange Dr. Strange, I was just joking...
I feel like everyone hates what the cartoon did to Morbius.
I'm not sure that's true. I like his origin better in the animated series than in the comics and movie. He's also a more interesting character there. The idea of "suction cups" on his arms is much more creepy.
Anyway. Strange looks good, I guess I can put him on my 90's Animated shelf with other characters like X-Men 97, Daredevil and Retro Iron Man. We need Animated Hulk now. Morbius looks fine, but his head is too damn big. I still want him.
Prowler looks good. It's another animated figure on a retro card. Just like Kraven.
Not sure about new comic Carnage. Figure looks great, but that head sculpts reminds me of old Hasbro Toxin figure. I guess, 1994 animated Toy Biz Carnage figure also had white teeth.
Still. Where is Chameleon, Mysterio or Vulture? We only have what? Two two-packs left? Thats going to be Hero\Villain sets. What are you even doing?
