I'll repeat this here in case folks going haven't seen it: Please impress upon the team how much we need a Jack Kirby figure to go alongside Stan on our shelves. You don't have to ask them "when", just...make sure they know how important such a thing is.
I think it may be unlikely... I just don't think the Kirby family is on great terms with Marvel and may not be interested in working out the details with Hasbro to get that done in a Marvel sub-line. I could be wrong.
I don't know if the Kirby's were involved in licensing - but there is a Kirby figure coming from NECA in their Mirage TMNT figure line
Copying this from the other thread. I’m going again today and I’ll ask as much as I can remember.
Oh man it’s my time to shine!!! Just came back from NYCC, and I had a long talk with Ryan, and it was so informative and there’s so much to say so let’s see…
Theyre excited about Giant Man, a little worried that it won’t fund, but that wouldn’t be the end of the world. I think they’re pretty confident it will fund.
Now let’s see what else. Ryan thinks Fin Fang Foom would cost 500 bucks. I told him I doubt I would back it for any price just because I’m not that interested but mileage may vary.
They would love to do a Quinjet or even a Blackbird. I’m going to talk to them more about it but they understand the problems with the EVO, and why doing a Punisher van would bring some of the same, like how Ramen can make a Charger.
I asked about the Arrakian mutants and he said I have a better chance of getting Cypher who I also begged for. Cypher could come in a head pack like Dani but I wanted a modern one. Ah well.
I begged for Storm Thor, he said it would be great but her costume might be too risqué. Same with brotherhood storm. on that note, he said he made Madelyne where you could paint the boob the way you wanted it but alas…
more tomorrow. Giant man looks really cool in person.
Damion seems to be a non starter, someone asked yesterday.
one thing Dwight said to me yesterday and sorry I called him Ryan above, is that these toys are not just for us the grown collector. I know it doesn’t seem like that many kids buy legends but enough do where Hellstorm isn’t happening and skin is an issue. He couldn’t remember who but he said another figure had a problem because of it. I suggested Moondragon and he said that wasn’t the one.
i want Jack of hearts so I’ll ask that for sure.
Given the history between Kirby and Marvel I truly doubt a figure is likely.
Hope springs eternal.
@benha he has a point about the whole kids thing but... does that really apply to figures from a haslab? I don't think many kids are buying those (can you imagine trying to convince your parents to spend that much on a action figure), and wasn't the whole point of Haslab that it was for things they couldn't sell at retail?

Hellstrom was included in the HasLab that failed, right? Both Goblin Queen and Hellstrom are referenced as characters that can't be sold at retail so were specifically put into the HasLab campaign.
He's saying there's no chance for Hellstrom at retail. And since the HasLab they tried to put him in failed it's not likely he'll get a figure.

Thanks for the whole report! Loved reading it.
This is just a personal wish of mine & I'm sure not many others might care - but if you're talking to them again would you mind asking if they have plans to finish the Abnett era of Guardians? Suited Groot, Mantis, Bug, etc..
I'd love to know why they design figures with articulation that should be able to give increased range, but for some reason it doesn't.
I'd also like to know if they ever intend on making double knees and elbows look a little nicer by sculpting a little more of the elbow and knee to go under the sculpts of the top and bottom of the legs and the forearm and bicep. Like how import companies do those joints. Doesn't seem to me like it would affect cost much if anything considering it would be the same number of pieces that would need to be molded.
So I had what was probably a half hour conversation with Ryan at the Marvel booth. A lot of what we talked about was stuff that isn't news, like their reasoning for no figure tiers for Giant Man, some nuance about the challenges in marketing of the Mindless One and Void waves not being carried by Walmart/Target, some discussion on team building and filling singular gaps like Rachel Summers.
I did remember to ask specifically about Jack Kirby, and he was able to give a straightforward answer about that. With the Stan figure, they were able to swing it as an MCU figure because of his cameos. He said that couldn't be done for Kirby, and that there were more obstacles along those lines keeping them from making that figure or using that likeness, not the least of which is the estate (which even with Stan Lee, was an issue). The workaround that NECA seems to have done is to use a more cartoony likeness, direct from the comics, which probably wouldn't fly with ML's current aesthetic.
He hinted at another upcoming female with updated articulation akin to 60th Black Widow. I'd have to look at the leak list (which I didn't really indicate I knew anything about, didn't know how sensitive they were about that sort of thing).
Dwight joined our conversation, and I asked about next year's "Anniversary" line, like what they did with X-Men and Avengers this year. They say it will BLOW YOUR MINDS, and that many wishlist figures will be checked off.
I didn't want to eat up their time, but I did compliment them profusely on their handling of the line and of the positive and negative feedback they get online. They noticed that there was no Fwoosh presence at NYCC, but I told them "I just post. I'm nobody."
If I remember anything I missed, I'll drop it in here later.
Excellent stuff, @normdapito. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to next year!

Ryan also said they're already planning for 2025!
Also, I am decidedly NOT a Convention person. I'm not a chit chat with marketing reps person, but less so a Con person. It's overwhelming to be among crowds that big, and there's just overstimulation everywhere I turned, and I was only in the showroom. My wife got me a free pass for the day as her company was there to promote one of the big panels today (Audible's Buffy Multiverse Slayers project). It's also my birthday, so it was a fun way to spend the day, and we only stayed for like 3-4 hrs, but I remembered why I haven't returned to NYCC in like 15 years. I won't be going back any time soon.
Thanks for the report! The female figure that came to mind regarding updated articulation was Psylocke.
Don't know which Marvel anniversary takes place next year but I'm going to assume FF retro card back? Inhumans hopefully can finally be finished. Really just give me a 3-pack of Feral, Wolfsbane & Rachel pleaseeee.
Happy birthday, Norm!

I'm the same- did the 2012 Chicago Comic Con and never went again. I imagine NYCC would be the death of me.
Ryan also said they're already planning for 2025!
Good news- hopefully this allays some of the fears about the future of the line.

This makes a lot of sense. I know a lot of people are wanting a different version of Betsy, but a Lee era update wouldn't be unwelcome.
