Hellcharger, Quinjet, Blackbird, or a horse--there's not much demand to use them in displays. A little, but not much.
I disagree - I think there is a limited set of vehicles and creatures that work with Legends - Fantasticar, Punisher Van, Hellcharger - plus winged and regular horses. I agree not a lot of these exist (although you might get the Thanos Copter and Spider-Buggy to sell), but a few are truly linked to the characters.
Hellcharger needed to be the capstone to other GR releases. Lots went wrong in that campaign but I think that was a big part of it - if we had Blake, Ketch, Phanton Rider and their rides already made, the Hellcharger as the final piece would have been harder to pass up.
I don't get this at all. Plenty of reuse with a horse. I stand by my assessment that Dan and Ryan are at times too conservative with the line - not in terms of figure choice, but in terms of possible expansion of the line. They could do another Legendary Riders series of 4 or 5 characters just with horse/winged horse options that appeals to Avengers, Thor, Ghost Rider and Western collectors...
Risk aversion is a hallmark of marketing. It's why they've doubled and tripled down on things like retro-carded figures and '90s figures. A New X-Men box set would probably do pretty well, but why not stick with the tried and true?

Agreed, but I do feel other Hasbro lines try new things a bit more often than Legends does. Now, maybe those lines try stuff and it tends to not do well, and Dan and Ryan know the market and the potential upside of moving beyond "just figures" isn't there to worth the risk or adds enough to the bottom line.
But much like completing teams in a timely fashion - even if it means putting out a figure that may not have as wide of appeal - I think sometimes you do stretch or go out a bit farther on a limb if it enhances the overall engagement with the customers.
Probably came across as more critical of Dan and Ryan than I meant, as obviously the line overall has been doing well for a long time and they are doing a great job I feel - just more of an observation that this isn't really an "innovative" line at this point, I think to its slight hindrance.

To be clear, I agree with you. That point about risk aversion was critical. I feel like the only risks we see are retailer exclusives where Hasbro is making money anyway. Obscure Spider-Man villain five-pack? Amazon exclusive.
Legends is probably one of the safest brands Hasbro has. (On an unrelated note, I imagine the Hell Charger failure was quite a wake-up call.) The line offers precious few surprises anymore, and if they do, it's usually a single-carded one-off on a re-used body.
Anybody going to NYCC? Post your chats with Ryan, Dan and Dwight!
If anyone is there can we try and ask what the status of the VHS line is, especially x men, and if they would do some more cell shading and leave non cell shaded for 97' releases

I don't technically have "room" for the McFarlane 89 Batmobile, but I have one. If they made a Blackbird jet, I would buy one even if I have to sleep with it in bed most nights. The guy making his own on IG is really going all out. Where would I put it? That's a problem for future Homer!
If anyone is going can you ask:
-Since they got the 5-member Squadron team out in less than a year and they're adding to the Winter Guard next year, what's their plan on finally completing the most classic unfinished team: The Inhumans? One member every 5 years? How about the original GOTG?
-Are we ever gonna see some love for the comic versions of main MCU characters like Mantis, Wong, Nebula, Skurge, Attuma, M'Baku & Mandarin?
-How many figures are sitting in the vault waiting to be released?
-2024 is the 40th anniversary of the maxi-series that started it all: Secret Wars. Any plans to complete the cast with Titania and Volcana?
-Clea is a fantastic addition to my Defenders shelf, but would look so much better with Gargoyle, Devil-Slayer and Daimon Hellstrom... hint hint...
I’ll be at NYCC today, but I’m so awkward that I don’t know if I’ll be of any use for asking questions. I’d have to take notes first.
I'll repeat this here in case folks going haven't seen it: Please impress upon the team how much we need a Jack Kirby figure to go alongside Stan on our shelves. You don't have to ask them "when", just...make sure they know how important such a thing is.
I went yesterday and asked Ryan and Dan for GRANT MORRISON'S NEW X-MEN. You're welcome! *ducks tomatoes* I also apologized on behalf of the community for the abuse they sometimes take in comment sections.
Questions, part 2
-Comic vs Film property IP confusion - Are certain comic characters held behind a "you can't make that because it will confuse the public" type of thinking from Disney/Marvel, like Mantis or M'Baku? Who is off limits?
-Is reaching out to Hot Topic as a partner for store exclusives possible for questionable characters like Mephisto, Daimon Hellstrom, Goblin Queen, Lilith Drake, etc?
-Speaking of Lilith - how much skin is too much skin?
-Where are the monsters? Seems like Werewolf By Night would be a fantastic tie-in to produce. Maybe have some sort of monster offering every October? Non-Marvel/classic monster people would eat them alive... so to speak...
-For Jack of Hearts, how much would a figure like him cost out due to all the paint applications?

the era had its ups & downs, but those costumes (especially at the time) had such a cool factor. I do wonder how they would handle releasing them since it seems like each of the main cast would eat up so much of the new tooling budget (with limited to no re-use potential), even if they're all released in different waves.
@tetragene That's basically what Ryan said, something about them needing a lot of new parts. Though theoretically Cyclops and Xorn would be mostly the same and could be reused for modern Sunspot. Emma and Jean could at least share coats, arms, and lower legs.
Given the history between Kirby and Marvel I truly doubt a figure is likely.
