@akajomiha I really just want a Cap with one of these new head sculpts with the brighter colors and a new bigger shield that doesn't have holes in it.

Thanks to utility work on my street, FedEx couldn’t deliver my package of PulseCon exclusives. Hopefully nothing impedes them tomorrow.

NGL, I’ve spent most of the last 24 hours in sheer numbed shock over the prize draw…

..turns out I’m gonna have to find room for a ‘son’ with a planet-sized appetite. I guess I really should get a F4 together now on general principle.

They only see detail that doesn't add to the budget

So, I guess I didn't pay enough attention Friday. The stripes are "wrong", IMO. the red stripe should always be in the middle. I'm not usually a stickler for details on Legends, but this stripe thing has always been like nails on a chalkboard to me and is probably going to get me to cancel my PO. Maybe it's just me?

Comic book artists have virtually NEVER held themselves to anywhere close to that strict a standard, and it's absolutely the rule that every artist changes character design elements constantly.  Even Jack Kirby would vary design elements such as Cap's stripes over time, and even from panel to panel in the same comic issue.

I've always found it odd that we action figure fans hold toy designers to a dramatically stricter standard than comic artists ever held themselves to.  When that particularly becomes absurd is when we say "that's not how that character should be!" when the Medicom, Bandai, Hasbro, Mattel, etc artists have looked at the breadth of material available, chosen a reference, and then fans unfamiliar with their chosen reference simply say "you got it wrong!"  Youtube reviewers have done that forever--Anthony has always done it and still does it, although I guess enough people have pointed it out to where now he'll qualify it with "if I'm wrong and there's a reference for this thing I think is wrong please let me know in the comments."  I never say that because I know I haven't read every comic ever made or seen every cartoon ever made--and even if I had that'd be so much content I would mostly forget how design elements changed over time.

@enigmaticclarity Thank you for your essay, but companies like Marvel and DC have model sheets for a reason. That's all I'll say.

But we've seen with Legends especially that Hasbro rarely follows them - so it's not like it matters.   Often if the designer googles a reference and they find art they like they design the figure to match that art - and the licensor signs off - so it is what it is,  model sheets be damned.

You're allowed to have your standards and want the depiction you want.   But if the figure matches any art from a published source then it isn't "wrong" - just not what you wanted.

That's why the Haslab Galactus should have been First Appearance Galactus

@ibentmyman-thing What, a planet eating deity can't have a change of clothes?

(That would have been the ultimate "not give you the version you expect" move from Hasbro.)

Yeah, that's why I put "wrong" in quotation marks and even added more context clues with the phrase "IMO". I'm not saying anything definitively. Having said that, I've worked in licensing, and model sheets are more important than you may realize. Anyway, I'm not here to debate. I'm done for a while.

I mean, in another thread Norm posted pictures of his Kang on his chair and how he modified two old Kang figures to fit the alternate face plates.    So, I'd say yes, at leas for one person.

With some heat and a screwdriver, I was able to pry out the original faces of the standard Kang, ground out some of the plastic, and popped the extra Council faces in. Glued in place, though it probably didn’t need it. Might as well make these permanent mods.
