So the highlight of SDCC for me was definitely the Dragon Man announcement, and the prospect of a new release tier (larger scaled, made to order, but without all the Haslab pre conditions).

I’m all about the monstery characters, so I’m giddy about the potential releases here. I did see, on the panel video, someone from Hasbro chanting ‘Mangog, Mangog!’, and he’d probably be my next pick.

But there must be loads of other cool figures they could tackle, too big for BAF, too small or obscure for Hasbro. Ymir, Surtur, Bi Beast, Orka.

My ultimate pipe dream would be silver age Kirby monsters, but that might be too much to hope for!

Does Bi Beast really need to be that much bigger than a Hulk figure? 7 feetish tall? Ymir and Surtur would be a big yes. Proper classic comic Groot would be a choice. I was hoping they were going to do a deluxe from the end of GOTG 3 and that would have worked as a classic Groot. Awesome Android would work (though I am more or less happy with my custom) and might would be the only one that should come as a 2 pack with another character (Mad Thinker).

I was going to suggest Atlas for my Thunderbolts, but Super Adaptoid at 12" and $70 flopped. Granted, they went cheap on him with re-use and missing wings, but still 12".

How much realistically should Dragon Man be? All-new Surtur at 12" was $50, re-use Adaptoid at 12" was $70 - this new line does not need to be in the three digits price zone.

I’d definitely be in for Surtur, Ymir, and Mangog.

I'd be up for a Shuma-Gorath.

I think this would be great for larger characters who are probably too niche for a deluxe retail release. Something like an accurately scaled Titanium Man.

A few years back Dwight had actually talked about potentially doing something like this for Cameron Hodge, which makes sense.

Of course, as always, my dream is Armor.

I have the original Toy Biz Dragon Man so I probably wasn't as excited about this as others were. With that being said, I'm sure that I'll likely buy the new one. What are we thinking as a price point on this? $150ish?

I'd hope that they wouldn't have to resort this model for Armor. She shouldn't require this, I wouldn't think. She's a Top 5 want of mine, but think that she could easily be done in the $35-$60 price range, if not as a BAF or regular figure.

For larger items that I would have originally seen in the HasLab realm of things, I'd want a Krakoa playset. Also high on my list would be Giganto the Mole Monster from the cover of Fantastic Four #1 along with a new Mole Man and some Moloids/Subterraneans.

I wonder if we will see any MCU characters done in this manner. Not that there are a ton that could be, but like in lieu of a Baf or Haslab movie Galactus, might they go this route? Or for the big Wolf from Ragnarok? Probably won't see those for a while, but still curious

How bout 12 - 16 inch sentinels with a Byrne comic size head and a bit of neck on them. Moderate but not excessive articulation to keep price reasonable.

Generally not into video game figures, but I'd like one of the big Lizard from the PS5 Spider-Man 2 game...

I hope they didn't learn the wrong lesson from that Super Adaptoid.  This line really needs an 11" human buck for all your Goliaths and Atlases.

But also, if this new approach gets me a more reasonably-sized but still big Galactus and Sentinel, I'm all for it.

@stephenwdavis Oh, a BAF or deluxe is definitely my ideal way of getting Armor, I’ll just take her how get I can at this point.

Sitting at the panel, Awesome Andy was my first thought when Ryan said this could be the pathway to overscale figures.

Off the top of my head the figures that could easily fit in a $100 price slot and that are popular enough to sell enough units:

  • Fenrir (the giant wolf) from Ragnarok
  • Shuma-Gorath, or perhaps Gargantos from Multiverse of Madness if the rights don't allow Shuma
  • Punisher van
  • Iron Man Hall of armor army builder with light-up armor cells.  This would probably work at a lower price point as well, but I doubt they'd do well at mass retail so this sales format should make them more viable.
  • Jotunheim Frost Giants (comic or MCU)
  • Fin Fang Foom.  He's unlikely to fund a 6000+ unit Haslab at $300 or more, but done more modestly at $100 he should sell well.
  • A mid-size Giant-Man or Goliath
  • A mid-size Sentinel
  • A closer to scale comic Watcher
  • A max-size Groot (comic or MCU)
  • A giant Apocalypse
  • Surtur, probably comic since they released an MCU one a few years ago
  • AoA Nemesis
  • Fantasti-Car, almost any style is completely viable
  • Deluxe Peni Parker with a mech you can open up and put her into
  • A super-buff Juggernaut
  • Devil Dinosaur
  • Mangog
  • Full size Cull Obsidian

I bet there are dozens of others that might fund.  HUNDREDS more are certainly possible, but most large-scale characters or universe items wouldn't be popular enough to bother with.  There are also plenty that are too big for the $100 scale like Celestials, Eternity, etc.

How is $150 for Dragon Man reasonable? He's not double the height of a normal figure but 3x the bulk? That's top range $75 and that's generous. AND we're cutting out the retail middle piece of the pie.

But here's two MCU I would most definitely be interested in:

Arishem - like Galactus, I'd be okay with a giant head & shoulders & hand

A giant Giant-Man
