Microchip. While I don't dislike the character, I don't need him in figure form. Pass.
No attachment to Black Tarantula either. Double pass.
The Jurassic World 6" Dennis Nedry would make a good stand in for Micro. Unfortunately I think it goes for over $100 now. I have a couple of the easier to find figures like Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and John Raymond Arnold (Sam Jackson) but never picked up Dennis. Now I kind of wish that I had.
I've customized that Amber Collection Sam Jackson figure into a Robbie Robertson stand-in. An official Robbie is still a Top 10 want for me from the Legends line, though. Very important Spidey civilian character.
Yes to Oblivion, 3-D Man, and Black Tarantula.
Microchip. HHmm....I thought Hasbro cancelled the Selfie Series? I guess this would be my chance to get a fair facsimile of myself in figure form (HA). In reality though I would pass on Microchip unless he came with the Punisher Van.
Black Tarantula. I like the look of this character, well pretty much all the variants. However I'm not a big enough fan to pick him up, except maybe on sale.
I NEED both, like yesterday. 😮
So, I'm gonna play around with Saturdays to make them a little extra special like Guest Star Day was. Maybe focusing on a single character that has a lot of costumes, teams, characters in a specific story... just playing it by ear.
What does everything think of Saturdays as sort of a theme day? Saturday Spotlight?
Day #742 - Wonder Man and a lot of his costumes... unless I missed some... minus Safari Jacket since we just got that. Please add any I've missed.
We’ve gotten a few Wondys already, and I’m pretty content with those. The only one I’d like to add, is a premiere Wonder Man. I’ve always liked that costume for him. I’m not opposed to any of the others being made, but his first is my next most desired look.
The Perez and Byrne inset looks along with an ionic energy form (full body) for the latter (reprising the Toy Biz efforts), thank you. We nearly have the Byrne version and while I’m not exactly a proponent of redrafts, this is one I’d like them to take another shot at (Nova Prime and a FA Beta Ray being on a short list as well). Lose the bicep paint apps, tweak the tank-top, add properly scaled fists, and cobble a mullet adorned head and I’ll never request another Wonder Man. Promise.
I like the idea of themed Saturdays!
As for Wonder Man, there are still quite a few versions I would take. Basically all of his costumes up through the Busiek/Pérez run where he went fully ionic. Everything after that just seems like a tweak on the black and red costume.
I even want that bright green and red jetpack monstrosity. It's hideous, but essential for an early West Coast Avengers team display.
And the first appearance costume would really pop with Giant-Man and FA Wasp next year.
I’d like a sleeveless Simon with a jet pack belt to go with ‘90s Avengers/WCA. Ionic to go with Heroes Return would be nice for variety, but not essential. I like the one with short sleeves too, where he’s kissing Carol.
Will the last one come with the giant snake?
I want lots of Wonder Man! Definitely his first costume (green and red) and his second costume (green, red, yellow), and his fully ionic purple energy form. I wouldn’t mind a redo of his sleeveless black and red costume either on a pinless body or something more jacked like the Hercules body.
Zero percent interest in a figure of Microchip. Like the last thing I want is a figure of a chubby old dude sitting at a computer. I can't express enough how entirely disinterested I am in such a figure and would be actively upset if they used up a slot in a comic figure wave for such a waste of plastic.
i find interesting the bifurcation of collectors who want the Aunt Mays and Microchips of the world, and those who don't. I have zero time (or maybe ability/imagination) left for playing with action figures anymore, but still possess this lifelong compulsion to own well-articulated representations of my favorite fictional characters. Given this lack of playing, it doesn't make much of a difference whether a character is old , fat, or not otherwise action-oriented (still waiting for Leslie Thomkins!). Since I was a kid, civilian characters are often among my most wanted. Made little glasses from a plastic ring to convert my Pocket Mego Jor-El to Commissioner Gordon. Nowadays, with poppable heads and hands and suit bodies readily available, I feel I'm in a golden age for making Robbie Robertson, Lucius Fox, Jimmy Olson, etc. (Not a big Punisher fan, so no dog in the fight for Micrchip specifically). But I also understand collectors -particularly photographers - who question the point of making Leslie or Microchip action figures. Interesting to me how it bifurcates so dramatically though.
I've always loved Wonder Man (I've got his first appearance issue), so I definitely want that costumne. I also really want the Pérez/Beast-designed costume. It's so ugly that I love it. But aside from that, since we've got the Safari jacket already, as well as the more modern Busiek/Pérez-era design, I'm good.
I wound like an update of Wonder Man in the same costume as the toybiz figure.
