It's interesting to include the Malibu and Crossgen characters in these lists - in part because Marvel seems to be highly resistant to using any of those characters directly themselves. I can't imagine them opening those vaults to Hasbro when they won't use the characters themselves. I know they did a brief relaunch of a couple of CrossGen titles in 2010 - but those garnered little interest and CrossGen has mostly been left to rot since.
So while it's fun to get that nostalgia whiff for those bygone comic universes I'd say figures would be highly unlikely unless Marvel resurrects the characters and folds them into their main Marvel Universe at some point.

A big factor in the low interest of both the CrossGen and the Ultraverse relaunches, was that Marvel radically altered the properties. They bore little resemblance to the the original concepts, and alienated the existing fan bases for them as a result. New reader’s didn’t know what to make of these because they weren’t taking place in the Marvel universe proper. Add the ridiculous prices they were charging for these “relaunches”, and readers didn’t want to shell out an increased price for something they didn’t know and/or didn’t like.
Marvel claims that the licensing contracts were a “nightmare”. Malibu claims there was nothing unreasonable in it. Since Marvel made a half hearted attempt with them, how problematic was it really? It comes down to who do you believe. Were the Ultraverse founders being unreasonable and trying to save face? Was Marvel being cheap and not wanting to pay royalties? What actually were the details of the purchase agreements with Malibu and CrossGen? Without actually seeing the contract details we only have people’s second hand accounts. All we know with any certainty, is that Marvel owns the rights to these properties currently, and they’re sitting on them. It’s why I like to keep up an awareness of these. Maybe if there’s enough fan interest built up, Marvel will either do something with them, or sell them to someone who will.
Makes me wish I had that kind of disposable income. Ah, dare to dream….
Arwyn would be an interesting addition to Asgardian or Lord of the Rings displays.
Lord Pumpkin looks fun! Who doesn't love a little evil produce to go with their asparagus 😉
I would probably skip the Colonel.
B - 1
Well, here we are.. at the end of all things.
Okay, maybe not all things, but it’s the end of my interim as host. Beamish returns tomorrow. I’d like to thank you all for your indulgence as we poked around the crevices of the Marvel worlds. This proved to be fun, and I fully get why Beamish enjoys this thread.
I toyed around with what to use for my wrap up. I had some choices planned, but they just didn’t say finale. So I revised them. These feel bit bigger and funnier to wrap up my tenure with. So, without further ado…
Our first entry, is another team. They’re a group of ancient demigods who have fought with and beside the Hulk. For your consideration:
The Pantheon
Next, in a case of “go big or go home”, we have a creature who was an understudy for a Japanese monster movie, and has a name that sounds like an STD. Here is King G…. er, I mean
Tricephalous
Next, another candidate from the “who the *bleep*” category. He’s a distant heir to the throne, Vinnie’s fifth cousin, and a villainous dentist (that’s redundant, I know). Let’s give it up for
Dr. Bob von Doom
oh, and because it’s my last foreseeable turn as host, one more for the road
Detective Frank Hoag
Hope you all have fun. See you around the Fwoosh. Welcome back Beamish
”This is L.H. Puttgrass, signing off and headed for the tub.”
I've wanted the Pantheon since buying ‘Smart Hulk’ from Toy Biz nearly 20 years ago. Yes to them and a host of other Hulk supporting cast characters the likes of the Hulk Hunters (Torgo, Darkcrawler, and Amphibian/Qnax), Bereet, Jarella, Rick Jones, Caiera, Nightmare, etc. Yes, yes, and yes.
I’ll take a Detective Hoag because he’s been a great sport and I appreciate his efforts to keep the thread going. And because Sludge is cool as well.

😊 aw, shucks…
I’ll take Dr Bob, dentist for hire!
Big thanks to @detectivehoag for keeping this going! And Dr. Bob is a must. I'll put him next to Dr. Mindbender and they can swap stories.
First off, a big thanks to Detective Hoag for keeping this thread going. Well done! This thread is my favorite at the Fwoosh and definitely the most fun.
Dr. Bob von Doom would be the only one I would consider today. There's something so epic and also so utterly goofy about combining Dr. Doom with dentistry that I would find hard to pass if it ever made it to retail 😉
Welcome back Beamish 🙂
I'd get them all. 🙂
Today’s choices would all be passes for me, though I might take the Detective just to honor our esteemed guest host.
I'm baaaacckkk...
Thanks to everyone for the continued interest in this thread and for the well wishes. Of course - a special shout out to @detectivehoag for his spectacular work keeping this thread alive and for his awesome choices! I included all of @detectivehoag's entries in the 'official' count.
Let's start off with a bang. Somebody that has been in the shoebox since Day #1 who I was sure would have shown up by now, or somebody would have picked on a guest star day. Especially last year...
Speaking of Guest Star Day, I wish the PM function still existed so we could keep that going.
Day #736 - Danny Ketch update, plus Darkoth (archive Day #68)
*Danny was not a random shoebox pick.
Welcome back, Beamish! Both of today’s choices are an enthusiastic “YES!” from me, presuming it’s first appearance Danny/Ghost Rider. But Darkoth has always had a fantastic design.
Yay! Welcome back Beamish!!
And huge yes to classic Danny GR and Darkoth.
Welcome back Beamish. Thanks for the kind words everyone. It was fun filling in.
As to today’s selections,
Yes to Danny,
and an enthusiastic YES to Darkoth. He captured my imagination as a kid, and I’ve liked the character since.
