Day #1399 - Doombots

After all these years I realized that any and all versions of Doombots never had a shoebox slip of paper. The Servo-Guards did, but not Doombots Bad Beamish! Doom is not pleased...

Toybiz gave us a Doombot back in the day.  It was a “chase variant” of their Doctor Doom.  The only way to distinguish them was by removing the face plate.  Fortunately they packaged the figures, Doom and Doombot, unmasked so consumers could tell the difference.  I still have mine.
I look at many of those images, and think the writers and artists have lost sight of what the Doombots were intended to be.  They were meant to look and act like Doom in Doom’s absence.  Not to warp themselves into mechanical monsters that bare the slimmest resemblance to Doom.
if Hasbro is going to tackle Doombots, I think I like them subtly different from Doom, but still close enough to capture the idea of what they’re supposed to be like.  I would probably purchase then.  Maybe a Doombot two-pack…or a Doombot / Kristoff two pack..
