Is what Mastermind wears a duster or an Inverness cape? Either way I’d take one despite making an ok one myself already

yes, it’s an Inverness cape (coat if it’s attached). Famously worn by Sherlock Holmes.   A duster is a long coat down to the knees or lower. Like in the Old West.

I trimmed a cape from Black Series Lando (SOLO movie) and repainted it. It works. But I’d prefer a dedicated figure sculpt for Mastermind.

I've never liked Armor as she seems like just another under developed Kitty Pryde / Jubilee stand-in, so I wouldn't need her.  However a decent amount of people seem to want her so the figure should be produced just to see how to actually make a forcefield-style character like that.  Once they figure that out they can make other characters I don't want like Glob Herman, which I assume would be easier since he's less "suspended" inside a clear exterior whereas Armor's is a thicker "shell" around her making articulation tricky.  I would by a 90s Acolyte Uniscione if they could manage that but her forcefield was more just a jagged-green-wire-looking mesh, so I'm sure a snap on accessory would probably suffice.

As for classic Mastermind he's a definite need.  I've seen the recipe for the Owen Wilson Loki-show figure paired with Old Man Logan 2pk's duster jacket, and it's a decent stand in when you put the Wolverine 5pk Mastermind's head on it.  However, Mastermind's hair was always more grey as I remember so making an actual true-to-model character is probably better than "good enough" shelf stand-ins.

classic Mastermind... sure, but I'm not convinced he'd sell well as a single release. P:erhaps in a multi-pack..

Firebrand.. sure original look. ("I'm Firebrand here, for USA up all night." )

Yes, a better Mastermind is needed. But should the Marvel team try again to make something closer to our collective (and traditional) mind’s eye version, I’m curious to see how they handle the inverness style coat. Hasbro has demonstrated in other lines that they can approximate a multitude of styles and periods (Indy Adventures), but Legends figs (IMO) need style & functionality/articulation.

There are some ideas on this thread that Hasbro could mine.

Mastermind would have been a yes a couple years ago, now he is a pass.  Not worth the current retail price.

Original Firebrand for the win.  Second look is a close.....second.

Man that is quite the list from FF.

Only really interested in a new Mole Man and Moloids.  Giganto and Megataur would be neat, but not feasible.  Everyone else is a pass, or at best a maybe.

I’d buy a Mole Man. Possibly a couple of Moloids to go with him. Pass on the rest.
