I'd get all of the original characters, and none of the costume variants. 🙂

Truly unfortunate about Cassaday's passing, but that being said I'm a pass on everything offered today.

Big fan of Cassaday's work.   Loved his style, very sad to hear of his passing.

Of those options outlined -  I have all the Danger I need in figure form already.

The S-Men as a group weren't particularly compelling for me,  but the character designs are gorgeous and man would they make incredible action figures - especially Dancing Water and Mzee... but really I'd take the whole team.

And Agent Abigail Brand would be most welcome on my shelf.   I would love a figure of her in any of her amazing outfits with the green accents to match her hair.

I am not familiar with Sydren... the character looks more like something from Star Wars or a background Green Lantern Corps member or something.   I can't say I'm clamoring for a figure.

Most of this is after my reading days.

However, I did enjoy Abigail Brand in EMH.  I wouldn't mind a figure of her.

Sad to lose those who have contributed to our enjoyment over the years.

I struggle to think of a better use of the comic book medium than the pages where Kitty sees Colossus for the first time in years in Astonishing X-Men #4.

I'm one of the biggest Astonishing proponents here. Obviously I'm on board for everyone and everything Astonishing X-Men.

I'm also a big champion of Cassaday's Uncanny Avengers Rogue. It's my favorite version of her classic costume. Perfectly realized in plastic by our own Raybot:

I'll echo Thor-El's sentiments. John was way too young. He will be missed. Most of his comics were after "my era" so I'd likely pass on all of these. However, if Hasbro ever delves into "artist's editions" and makes a Cassaday Captain America, I'm all in.

Yes to his Astonishing characters and the main cast of Uncanny Avengers we don't already have. His costume designs for the X-Men were a breath of fresh air after years of plain black leather, especially the way he created something new while retaining several classic elements for each character.

John Cassaday was an incredible artist with a beautiful, fluid style reminiscent of Alan Davis. And he knew how to lay out a page and tell a story visually! But something to think about...remember when his X-Force variant cover was shown a few months ago (the Wolverine and Beast one) and people were quick to mock it? I admit it was shocking compared to his usual work but people were absolutely cruel about it. You never know what someone might be going through, or how difficult it was for him to make that cover. Reminds me of people slamming Chadwick Boseman's weight loss before they knew about his cancer diagnosis. Adding to someone's suffering isn't worth a few likes on a snarky mean comment.

@renfield75 Wow, that's sad. I wasn't aware of this cover- just Googled it, and in hindsight, it seems apparent his medical issues were affecting his art. I appreciate your sentiment of giving people grace and being mindful of others' hidden struggles.

Yes all around today. Some more than others, but JC could design.

In general I don't like most of these characters so don't need them personally.  I think Brand and Danger are significant enough characters that some people would want them to be figures, but I don't need any personally.  I could appreciate his art and massive talent even though it wasn't my personal aesthetic preference.  I never really dug the "the danger room is abused and sentient now" as they'd already done that with Cerebro previously and it became its own villain also.  What's next, the plane is sentient and has had enough?

Overall, I think most people would be happy with Ord from the Astonishing run, Brand, Danger and some of the Uncanny Avengers looks that Cassaday did.  I just don't need any personally, as I was just happy to see some color in the costumes of the characters again when his books were coming out.  I did like the moment with Cyclops and Wolverine on the lawn with the sentinel where Logan gave Scott some credit.  And the Colossus resurrection/reveal was well done and memorable.

Sad to hear of the passing of Cassaday.   I only read bits and pieces of his work, but the art was quality.

As for the characters, I am a pass on pretty much everyone.   I have no real attachment to any of them except maybe Abigail Brand.   So she would be a maybe, but everyone else is a pass.

Yes to a lot of these—Danger, Abigail Brand, and Sydron.

Danger makes me think of Alkhema, who would be really to get in figure form.

Strangely enough, I just finished rereading the first 24 issues & GS Astonishing run today, having reread Planetary before that. Both such amazing runs that I also re-bagged them all in mylar sleeves because they felt worth preserving despite not have much monetary value. They are fabulous and entertaining books that felt meaningful at the end.

5 days ago I turned 54 (that makes me a bronze age baby) and can feel viscerally how life must have felt woefully too short for John's passing. I celebrate the great work he left us and would hope a new Danger fig or maybe a Brand or Ord would be a welcome addition to this small amount of Astonishing figs we have so far (I ditched that poorly executed version of Danger years ago.).

Thanks for this one Beamish - Appreciate your contributions to this thread very much.

While I'd like to say I wouldn't get either, I just know I couldn't resist building a Bison BAF. I could see some reuse potential in those parts as well.
