It's genuinely obscene Hasbro hasn't finished the Superior Foes yet. When was that Shocker released, 2016? They've had 7 years to make the ONE figure needed to complete this team and they just haven't. Come on, already, you're so close! Just make Overdrive already.

Day #684 - Tribute to Keith Giffen

The legendary writer and artist passed away just a few days ago. His contributions to Marvel, DC and the general comic world are immeasurable, especially a furry little critter that took the MCU and the world at large by storm, and my forever Top 10 wanted character - Jack of Hearts. Thank you, Keith, for sharing your amazing imagination with us. RIP.

Rocket Raccoon - early appearances

Jack of Hearts - archive Day #124

Lunatik and Skreet

Woodgod

Cammi

Red Rajah

Tenebrous

Ohhh, lots of wants here; full disclosure, I’m a Giffen fan – rest in peace, Keith.

Ranking order of ‘yeses’

  • Jack of Hearts
  • Ravenous
  • Skreet (preferably included with a Samaritan version of Thanos)
  • Tenebrous
  • Aegis
  • Early Rocket
  • Woodgod
  • Lunatik
  • Red Raja

I know this is a Marvel forum so, excuse me for talking about Keith’s DC work.
My name is Larry Mahlstedt and I inked a lot of Keith’s work in the 80’s. After we were paired up on the Dr. Fate back-up in the Flash, Keith was primarily responsible for me getting on Legion of Super-Heroes. It was the Great Darkness Saga which to this day remains my fondest memories as an inker. I was a huge LSH AND Darkseid fan as a kid and this was a dream job. His creativity was remarkable and his Legion knowledge off the charts. After he left the book a few issues into the Baxter format I didn’t see much of Keith. But I’ll always be grateful he took a liking to my work. Thank you, Keith and Rest In Peace.

Same for the most part. I'd also take a classic comic version of Rocket. And as much as I'd LOVE Aegis and Tenebrus, they'd have to be Galactus-scale to make me happy so that's certainly not going to happen.

First and foremost, we're comic fans (at least most of us), so I think I can safely say that we're here for any insight or memories you care to share!

Man, I am SO far behind there isn't even a point in trying to catch up! Still, some standouts for me:

Jack of Hearts- LONG overdue!!! Classic costume, please!

Satannish- I'm pretty much down for any Marvel demon or monster! Unless he's part of some con exclusive though, I doubt we'll ever see him in the line.

Dr. Demonicus- I have some fond memories of him showing up in the Godzilla comic, so I'm down. Plus, that costume would look great in figure form.

Swarm- Can I get this YESTERDAY? Make it happen, Hasbro!!!

First and foremost -  RIP Keith Giffen -  truly a loss to the comic industry.   My favorite of his work was on JLI -  but of those characters listed above  Jack of Hearts is squarely in my top 10 at this point.   I want a figure of that character SO bad.

I'd happily buy a classic early appearance pre-guardians Rocket Raccoon figure as well.

Woodgod is another wacky classic that I wouldn't mind having on my shelf.   I remember picking up those Marvel Premiere books as back issues and enjoying it more than I thought I wood (pun intended).

As for the rest -  not the greatest things ever created and I don't need them in my Legends collection.  But man it's a bummer when we lose these guys.

@whitlow

Thank you for that, these kind of stories are great to hear.  Nothing wrong with talking about a great time in comics whether it is DC or Marvel.

As for today's choices. I would pass on all of them except for the green suit Rocket and classic Jack.
