1) Both flame on heads must be featureless
2) I want Jim in both powered and unpowered states (unpowered costume to reflect his West Coast Avengers look)
3) Toro must be made on the smaller "teen" body.
Agreed on all counts!
I'm good without a Lash figure.
Human Torch and Toro would be great. Agree on the featureless faces in flame mode. Maybe we could get an Invaders themed wave with a bunch of classic look characters.
No interest in Lash, but I would LOVE an Original Human Torch and Toro. With caveats:
1) Both flame on heads must be featureless
2) I want Jim in both powered and unpowered states (unpowered costume to reflect his West Coast Avengers look)
3) Toro must be made on the smaller "teen" body.
I made an Original Torch figure using the latest retro carded Human Torch with the Marvel Select head. And honestly that satisfies me. So they'd have to make it look pretty good to make me spend money on it right at this point.
This!
It's so sad that we've had a few Marvel Anniversaries in Legends and still are missing figures who started it all. Original Human Torch and Toro absolutely should be in the line already. Valid rant Beamish.
I enjoyed the Lash character in the Agents of Shield show and I'd buy a figure of him, but he's not high on my list. I'd definitely buy Jim Hammond and Toro. I'm using the F4 retro card version of Johnny as a Jim stand-in and the 5-inch Toy Biz Human Torch as Toro for now.
No on Lash, yes on Human Torch and Toro. Fine with either clear figures or the classic painted line look
I’d prefer the real Lash:
before Marvel slapped the name on that another character, who I could pass on.
Original Human Torch and Toro (& Invaders) are major wants of mine. Get on it already Hasbro. I’ve had to fudge my Toybiz “4-less” Human Torch in his place for far too long. I need an official Jim Hammond Human Torch and Toro done right.
oh, and can we get an Asbestos Lady too?
Anybody who's paid even a little bit of attention to me these past several years knows where I stand on the Human Torch and Toro (and the lack thereof) issue. So there's really no need for me to get into any of that.
But I will anyway because that's how I roll.
August 31st, 1939. That was the first the world heard of a little company that would one day call itself Marvel. Nearly 85 years ago. (Let that sink in for a minute) A young fellow named Stanley Martin Lieber had just started working for the then Timely Comics as a 17 year old gofer and editorial assistant.
And how fitting that that very first Marvel comic would feature a superhero on the cover. I mean, it could have been any number of things. It could have been a romance book, it could have been a teen comedy book, it could have been horror, sci-fi, war, western, funny animal, humor. But it was a superhero. It's almost like someone there knew that's what they would one day become known for.
Something that occurred to me the other day: Next year the Fantastic Four movie comes out. The last thing I want to hear at SDCC 2025 is "Well, we were going to make an Invaders boxed set, but the higher ups felt that with the FF movie coming out that would be too much Torch in too short a period of time."
Well, this is 2024 and as far as I know, there are no movies or TV shows with Namor, the Torch or Captain America in them this year. You have a window, Hasbro. Use it before it closes.
C'mon, man. I'm 65 years old and I have congestive heart failure. I'm not gonna be around forever. You have to do this.
Do it for the veterans. Do it for all this who served. Do it for the fans who have supported Marvel for decades.
Do it for Stan, Jack, Carl and Bill. Do it for Roy while he's still alive.
Get it done.
And just so no one gets the wrong idea, let me say that I love the Marvel movies and TV shows. (Yes, even the Eternals). I love them. I've seen all the movies on opening night and usually go back to see them two, three or even four times. Hell, I saw Endgame 9 times during it's run. I subscribe to Disney Plus specifically for Marvel.
Don't let my disappointment with not getting an Invaders boxed set because of the Movies give you the wrong impression. I love Marvel Studios. I feel bad for Hasbro because they've got to play both sides of the fence and it's a tough balancing act. Both the comics and the movies have very strong, passionate fan bases. And they're both a very vocal bunch.
@ru1977, I love ya, buddy. I know times have been rough for you this year because of the strikes. But to quote Loki in Infinity War: "I assure you, brother, the sun will shine on us again.”
And I sure hope you're able to make it to San Diego next summer. I want to see Fantastic Four with you down in Mission Valley.
Hang in there!
Unless the Cabal set is this year's "official" Amazon box set, Dwight's proposed Invaders set would be a perfect fit.
-Features Cap, a tie-in to the upcoming Cap film.
-The "we couldn't use Namor because of the proximity to his appearance in the Black Panther film" excuse doesn't wash anymore since we got a comic Namor early in the year.
-An Amazon set featuring at the very least Cap, Bucky, Namor and Human Torch are all bigger hitters and would probably sell more units at full price than the WCA 5-pack and or the deeply discounted Stryfe set.
-It's anniversary adjacent, like the WCA set was not "officially" part of the Avengers anniversary program.
Maybe a set like this is the SDCC/PulseCon set.
Maybe Torch is in the rumored Avengers Retro Card wave, which would make sense from a selling standpoint because to the non-comic person or little kid a fire guy looks cool and would probably sell well. With the non-flamed on WCA red suit version being a Fan Channel exclusive.
There I go, being optimistic again...
Big yes to Torch and Toro. Would love to get a depowered version of Torch in his WCA reds too!
Depowered faces are absolutely 100% a must, but it'd be cool if they included a headsculpt matching the cover of Marvel Comics #1 when they do make him.
Orrgo would be fun, but I don’t see it happening. There’s other, more prominent monsters in the Marvel Universe that would be better sellers, and we haven’t gotten them yet, so I won’t hold my breath for poor Orrgo.
Calypso is matter of when, rather than if, we get her. I think there’s enough interest in the character to warrant a figure of her.
Seeing that Daredevil cover reminds me how I still want a Hellspawn figure. Stop being stingy with DD’s rouges already, Hasbro.
Calypso! My number two wanted figure. Right behind classic Brother Voodoo.
