I started tracking again once the resell tax was threatened. But I've enjoyed keeping up with it.
GameStop has marked products buy 2 get 1 free - but also deactivated for shipping almost every action figure. Is anyone else experiencing that?
I just got the email from GameStop for Buy 1, Get 3 Free for all in-store clearance items. Too bad I've mostly cleared out my Gamestop's good clearance stuff during past sales.... still might have to stop by tonight...
Yeah I saw the Gamestop email as well and was interested, but then saw nothing was available for shipping. It's like they were following our convo about never shopping in-store.
@h-bird your obsessive tracking sheet and my obsessive tracking sheet should get together and go bowling.
It's the tedious record-keeping I didn't know I needed in my life! Started as an effort to keep myself accountable (how much am I REALLY spending every year?) and to become more proficient in Excel. Now it's something I enjoy maintaining more than I probably should.
That's pretty much the same for me. It's also a good way for me to keep track of pre-orders etc. I color code everything, including stuff on my wishlist tab so I can keep track of what's been announced/pipelined/leaked. It's an essential part of my collecting and I think the structure is comforting, as well as keeping me from getting too out of hand.
I need to add more color to mine! It's not very visually pleasing. I do track my preorders in the same sheet, plus my annual Fwoosh Top 10 vote, some rumors (though not very diligently since Beamish does such a good job of that here), and other things. At one point I intended to track the entire ML line, and my collection, in a spreadsheet. I gave that up when I started using Legendsverse, and was happy to do it - too much to maintain.
@h-bird ive been doing that too. I have a tab for everything that's come out (mine is easier since I only do movie figures), with yellow highlights for the ones I own and red for ones I bought then later sold. That stopped this year when hey barely put out any movie figures AND I sold off maybe half my collection.
I really pride myself in making a nerdy hobby far more nerdy. Then, with the Joe Classified figures, I started making my own file cards to solidify my shelf canon. That's made collecting the figures even more enjoyable to me.
Ross was just flooded with good stuff for $6 about this time last year. Not so much this time around.
Best I’ve seen the last month were the last wave of Power Rangers Lightning and Tiger Force Flint and Dusty at $8 apiece. ML’s been real spare but spotted MCU MJ, Iron Man model 09, and MCU Banner for $13. Heard solids of the Retro Iron Man wave characters were hitting though. Random McFarlane DC Gaming waves too from $6-$8 too, but just not a lot that interested me.

Gamestop website makes no mention of this, is it a sale next week?
@danman the sale is active online and in-store according to Toyshiz on Instagram. Supposedly not a lot online to buy according to the people commenting on his post. Sale doesn't include preorders or clearance.
Crystal and Lockjaw are 62.99 on Amazon right now.

Methinks that set has MUCH further to fall. My guess is that the demand is around the same level as a MODOK which fell to under half its original MSRP.

Many of us thought the same of Blob. Waited for price drops that never really came, while it sold out at full price. Sure, the sell out didn't happen immediately, but waiting did not pay off on that one. Sure, Inhumans aren't exactly as popular as Mutants, and Lockjaw's execution isn't ideal, but who knows what the production run of this set is. I think they've learned some lessons from extra-deluxe offerings like MODOK and Mojo.
I just received Blob from Amazon yesterday, and I gotta say it's one of the most unsatisfying purchases I've made. "Buyer's remorse" and all that. I wanted him for the Brotherhood since I've gotten the rest and he was the only one missing, but boy howdy I did NOT want to pay what he cost.

I think this is right. It's possible this set still ticks down a bit in price, but I'd be very surprised to see it showing up for half price a year from now. It really does feel like the total numbers produced are down and deep sales are less likely. Odin seems to have hit some decent sales at a few places, but he's also more widely available. I'm not picking this set up just yet because I'm avoiding any more spending through the end of the year at least, but I do think it's probably wise not to wait too long if it's a real want.

Yea I heard people voicing that opinion at the time, and I knew it was a mistake. It was clear there was demand for that from the exorbitant price of the BAF, and given how good the deluxe ended up being there was no way I was risking missing that. EVERY Inhumans release on the other hand has peg-warmed and gone to deep discount--Black Bolt and Medusa were available for significantly below MSRP for years, and Karnak is still readily available and his price is plunging.
But the point about us not knowing Hasbro's supply is apt. Every release is a gamble in that regard in terms of waiting for a sale or buying multiples, and it's easy to guess wrong on that even with a popular and in-demand item. I thought the Storm/Thunderbird set would be a hit, but I had no idea Target would stock 20 to 30 of them per store, so the supply was unusually high for that set and market prices for it are still low years later. There's definitely a risk that Hasbro underproduced Crystal and Lockjaw knowing that the Inhumans usually aren't in high demand and past deluxe sets of questionable popularity have gone to deep discount, but so far it's currently available literally everywhere it could be so there's no sign of short supply selling out anywhere that I can see. If Hasbro had understocked it then at least SOME retailer should be sold out by now, but nope.
I'll pounce once I see one of the major Legends retailers sell out. Until then I'm holding out for deeper discounts. Hasbro Pulse is one great touchstone for this--they carry far less inventory than their customer retailers do, so you can easily use their site as an indicator for what's hot when they sell out of something relatively quickly. When they sell out I'll start to worry, but as long as Pulse has it I'm waiting for cheaper prices.

This may be limited to "Pro" members only ($15? annual fee that gets you a $5 coupon every month) and I know the email specifically said "in-store" only so they may not be advertising it on the website. They just did a similar sale not too long ago around Black Friday that was Buy 1 Get 2 free on clearance, so most stores may already be cleaned out of clearance stuff. I know that I personally basically cleared my store out at that time. I haven't made it there yet since I got the email this past Thursday night, but I find it unlikely they'll have much left in the clearance bins. I'll stop in when I can this weekend to check it out.
