For instance, you tend to see far fewer WWE figures on clearance or at discount stores, and that's a brand that's had an extremely hot couple of years. And that's a line that produces constantly in high numbers.
I do believe even the Mattel WWE figures had a bit of an increase and inventory correction, just not at quite the same scale we saw with Hasbro, and probably for some of the reasons you listed. But I absolutely did see WWE figures at Ross and Burlington Coat Factory after the implosion - just not to the degree that some of the Hasbro brands experienced.
Also no one liked or apparently bought the PFP.
Regarding Mattel's WWE product. They have smaller waves of 4 figures, which seem to quickly turn into the next wave. So I don't think there's as much of a chance for figures to linger on pegs. Certainly, they do get clearanced at stores. I think TJMaxx and Marshalls have some kind of deal for Mattel product, because they in particular have gotten Mattel product in at marked down prices. I do think the smaller waves with higher turnaround help prevent as much pegwarming as Hasbro's lines.

Some of the waves. The quarterly event waves, the Target-exclusive Legends waves, those are 4. But the mainline Elites are still 6 to a wave and the Main Event basics are still 5. Then there's the Top Picks, which are 3 for Elites and 4 for Main Event, I think? The flexibility of product offerings probably helps them a lot. It gives them a lot of options to slip in necessary but niche personalities without it having an oversized effect on the line.
So, that's fair to an extent - except that we do have some data including statements from people at Hasbro, financial statements and sales data reporting from Hasbro, massive layoffs at Hasbro which suggest that what we heard about the glut of product going to remainder stores was probably accurate. And this didn't just happen to Hasbro there were similar if not identical patterns with McFarlane and Super7 at the very least.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but I no longer extrapolate much from layoffs. As an avid gamer, I can tell you these companies lay people off all the time to make their earnings look better
Executives use this fucked-up form of logic to pretend they run magic profit machines and not companies that impact peoples' livelihoods. (And health care, in the U.S.)
I think the number of successful Kickstarter projects and new toy companies is another thing that points to a healthy industry.
MCU Hulk BAF wave for $80 on BBTS:

Beta Ray Bill, Union Jack wave.
Getting back to toy sightings, this morning I woke to see the Target exclusive Cage and Fist (on Target's site) was indeed 34.99$ as norm stated. It was full price online and in store on Tuesday, I guess it's a 3 day sale.
Really?? No classic head?? How stupid can they be?
Stupid like a fox because now they can repackage this with an era-appropriate Carol head, and maybe recolor the black parts in a blue/dark blue and resell it to us as classic Ms. Marvel.
Sorry, but that doesn't make sense. That's 2 purchases either way if someone wants both looks. Actually, this would have saved them paying for new artwork.Stupid like a fox because now they can repackage this with an era-appropriate Carol head...

can you share the link? It’s not showing up when I search the target site.
Just noticed Target is having a few sales. The first is 50% off select toys. Only things of interest are MOTU/ Stranger Things Skeletor/ Demogorgon, McF Batman / Hush, ML Avalanche and Longshot. There's also 40% off select Legos and 30% off select JW toys.
I tried for a Hulkbuster Target pickup order at $42. It was canceled. I figured it would be because there was supposedly one left but I haven't seen one lately on the shelf. Took a chance it might've been in the backroom.
I saw one (Hulkbuster) at Target last night. I was honestly surprised. It was the only Marvel Legends product they had except for the movie "all star" Spider-Man and Iron Man that have been there for awhile.
