"Where is my Animated Chameleon?" 🤬I'm heading to the Con after work today, should get there around 3:30. Let me know if you have any questions you'd like me to ask Dwight or Ryan.
Seriously, there's no point in asking them any questions and wasting your time. Almost all answers are “Well, maybe something will happen in the future”, “Wait and see”, “Most likely someone made a mistake, it was Dwight”.
Thanks for your contribution.
Every time I watch an interview with these guys the conversation is always interesting if the person actually has a conversation with them - instead of just peppering them with "What about making x? Or y?" This isn't directed at you, Norm - just my regular airing of grievances around con time.
A few random questions I would ask if I was talking to them:
- What was the most fun thing to work on in the last ~year? Most challenging?
- Are there any "threads" within the line they'd like to continue, even if there might not be any specific plans at the moment? (for example, more themed waves a la Secret Wars and Strange Tales, a particular era they've been able to make stuff from, etc)
- What Marvel stuff have they been reading/viewing lately? New runs or old, tv shows, video games, etc.
- What non-Hasbro action figure lines do they collect or follow?
- How much do they pay attention to the 3rd-party market? Not bootlegs, but accessory pieces and the like.

Have fun, dude! I was at the New York Comic Con back in 2014 and I had a blast. Enjoy the atmosphere and have a great time.

Last year at NYCC, I had a really great conversation with Ryan Ting for at least a half hour. They had just debuted the fully funded Giant Man and had the non-colored sample in the display. I remember he had hinted at a figure to be redone at the quality of the anniversary Black Widow (found out he was talking about Carol Danvers). He and Dwight also hinted at the Wolverine anniversary line, with specific hints about who was being redone (though I no longer remember those hints or how they panned out). We talked about MCU's timeline of delays affecting their output. It was a ton of stuff. I had not originally planned on going this year, but my wife works for Audible and she has a badge from a panel she had to attend yesterday, and that badge is good for the rest of the weekend. So I get to use it for whenever. Probably just this afternoon.

I was at the second NYCC, and again last year. I have realized Comic Cons are NOT for me. I don't care for crowds, I'm not into meeting famous people or commissioning art. The vendors are white noise unless I'm hunting something specific. Also I don't care for crowds. But I'm going for free with my wife's badge, and the most interesting part for me last year was talking with the ML team. So I'm gonna head in, even though I don't like crowds.
(Did I mention my disdain for crowds?)

This is absolutely correct. The Hasbro team can be very forthcoming with information if you just strike up a conversation with them. They love what they do and they WILL talk if you ask them things that they can talk about.
I wasn't able to talk to them at this year's SDCC because of time constraints, but at last year's show I found out that West Coast Avengers boxed set was originally supposed to the Invaders, Dwight pitched a Western heroes boxed set with Two Gun Kid, Red Wolf, Kid Colt, Outlaw and a horse, and Dwight did a digital render of the modern Dracula.
It is most certainly NOT a "waste of time" to talk to them. Nonsense.
For you guys that are going, have fun! That's the main thing. Just have fun and enjoy yourselves. That's what comic-cons are for.

This is the exact type of question that the Legends team or any other representative of any other company selling any type of product or service could never answer. I've seen multiple action figure personalities ask questions like this in the past, but please, NOBODY ask any company what their unannounced plans for the future are. All you will ever get whether it's a toy company, a car company, or someone who works for Elon Musk at X is a BS non-answer.
But if your point is that they never answer any questions then that's definitely not true. Dan Who is the current best Youtube interviewer I've seen who asks them good questions they can almost always answer.

Yay!
-We want a horse! Both standard and winged! So much re-use potential - Black Knight, Valkryie, Phantom Rider, Two-Gun Kid... and while I'm chatting animals, Red Wolf and Lobo would be a great pairing...
-Any current plans to produce long-awaited comic versions of charactres that have MCU figures - Mantis, Attuma, Skurge, M'Baku, Baron Mordo, Nebula, America Chavez and others?
-Dan mentioned in a podcast that 2025/2026 would have a focus on completing teams. Does that mean finite teams (like the Starjammers) or smaller rosters within a large team to complete an era/storyline (Avengers Under Siege, X-Men Outback) or both?
-Any plans for a mini-Wasp and Ant-Man to complement their larger counterparts?
-With the success of the overscale Dragon Man concept, could this also lead to large boxsets for the Imperial Guard and Serpent Society?

I would have seconded this if not for the recent Lockjaw release. Now I fear we'd get a horse with knees that don't bend. 😱
I also think they don't mind talking to me because I'm a nobody. I'm not interviewing them for views or likes. There's no pressure, no recording. Just having a conversation about our favorite toys. I did mention to them last year that I'm a Fwoosh member, so they knew where I was coming from, even though I don't actually represent this message board in any official way. But they're familiar enough with this board, and things like the unofficial top ten and Beamish's one a day thread.
NORM! Ask them if they display their Fwoosh Trading Cards at the office!
jumping off of Beamish's question:
-Any current plans to produce long-awaited comic versions of charactres that have MCU figures - Mantis, Attuma, Skurge, M'Baku, Baron Mordo, Nebula, America Chavez and others?
Hasbro used to say that they didn't want to cross-pollinate the shelves with MCU and 616 versions of the same character at the same time.
I don't know if that strategy has changed, but I wish they'd just include a comic alt- head with some of these MCU figures. Agatha is the perfect example - the character is only gonna get one figure, so why not include both a comic-version and actor's-likeness?
That being said, Hasbro couldn't have produced a better Agatha head than Benty offered, anyway. But I think they'd sell more figures if they offered the options to both markets.

I get that, dude. Believe me, I totally get it. Being in the same building with 100,000 plus people can be very overwhelming. That's like the population of a small city being smushed together.
I always have fun at SDCC, but when it's over, my girlfriend and I head up to the mountains and rent a cabin for a few days. I need that time to relax and enjoy the quiet and the beautiful scenery.
Yes, I'm the only person I know that needs a vacation from their vacation. 😀
Dang, I just thought about how we should've sent more cards to them, this time, too. Unless we're only doing this for SDCC.
