I really like the new Wolverine, but I just couldn't pull the trigger. I have the first one they did and ordered the updated one and I just don't need 3 sixth scale Wolverine figures. I'm in for original characters like Nightcrawler and Sinister, pending price. I'm terrified to see what the tariffs do to them.

I added the only pre-order figure I saw, the vinyl Alien, to try and see what the tariff surcharge would be, but it didn't add any. Hoping to get a sense of it's literally going to be 145% of the figure's cost.

I played around with this to calculate the remaining figures I'd want from them:
https://www.timetrex.com/resources/us-tariff-calculator
So if I want RGB Winston by himself it'll be about $250 instead of $101.
If I want animated X-Men's Nightcrawler instead of the usual $240 it'll be about $590
1/12 MOTU He-Man is said to come in cheaper at let's say $85, which would then be around $210
I'm not paying $600 for Nightcrawler even though I really wanted him. I'm not paying more than double for He-Man which I only kinda wanted. Winston I'm iffy on but leaning on just ceasing the line and worrying about buying it later - or never.
In the long run I don't need any of this stuff that badly. Mondo can hold off on it's preorders until the tariff issues are resolved, move production elsewhere (likely the smarter move) or go headlong into a wall trying to get me to preorder a $600 Nightcrawler.
I'm willing to wait or do without. If they want to move production elsewhere or home (I doubt these 12" dolls cost the $200+ they usually fetch to begin with, so I doubt they'll cost $600 to produce even in the U.S.) I'll continue too purchase from them.

It's unclear if the Trump tariff tax is charged to the retail cost of the item or the cost to actually manufacture it or some other cost.
But yikes, if Nightcrawler is $600. I think Mondo's business model breaks with that. They're higher end, but not that high end. Very few people can spend that on a single figure (or would want to even if they could).

I'm mostly X-Men related, and Nightcrawler is one of my easily top 5 favorite characters (they tend to vary based on who's writing them / who's the artist), but my 1/4 scale Sideshow Nightcrawler, which included swappable hands was $575 as I remember. I'm mostly done with statues for the reason of space, and the obvious costs.
The Mondo Nightcrawler was likely to be my last through them, as I doubt they'll make a Colossus. Definitely not paying $600 for that, I can sit with the Nightcrawlers I have.
They're not going to charge 600 bucks for a Nightcrawler. They won't sell any at that price. Likely there's going to be some guesswork baked in that figures the tariffs won't be as bad as they are now when the item delivers and it will be setup in such a way that they eat some of it and pass some of it on, because it's basically impossible to sell anything with the current rate applied. And I would expect a reduction in preorders in general and if the tariffs are still monstrous when product needs to be delivered then they'll end up sitting on it in a warehouse until conditions improve. Mondo isn't stupid and they likely know that a lot of their products don't have much room for increase, especially after seeing the outcry to their Ghostbusters pricing last summer.
Nightcrawler teaser now up
Regarding the tarrifs someone on Reddit posted:
Just a heads up for those interested: the $185 Godzilla that Mondo put up for preorder yesterday had a $38 tariff charge as well as $27.75 shipping charge (a lot, if not most, previous preorders had free shipping). Be prepared as you look at ordering this figure.

Thanks for the info. Proportionally that would be an additional 20% tacked on not counting shipping. If that carries over that would leave Nightcrawler closer to $300 which I'm hopeful is the case rather than $600. Hopefully they ship all their US orders to the US before distributing themselves. My understanding is the nightmare comes when they ship via DHL direct from China like they did for all the previous figures I've ordered from them.

I don't see free shipping mentioned for US/UK/EU/Canada. Is that another way they will now tax us? I'm fairly sure they mention free shipping on their pre-order release advert, the times that it applies, which is usually on all their 1/6 figures. This could be a significant stealth price increase if so. I've checked their Wolverine pre-order release advert from a couple of months ago and it mentions free shipping.
Plus for rest of world customers, when they received direct from the China factory in the past, that was likely 0% import taxes on those items for many countries.
Now if they ship to the US from the Chinese factory, there will be these new import tariffs on that, and then many other countries also have import duty to get product from the US, so won't they be paying two lots of import fees now, just for the privilege of having their figure sit in the Mondo warehouse for a day? Or will Mondo still ship to Europe direct from the factory?
For example, this figure would likely have been $235 before, with free shipping and 0% China -> EU import fees, total is $235.
Now the price increase has kicked in, and the figure has seemingly only gone up $10 to $245, not bad right? However now you have to pay shipping, which when looking at the shipping prices for their vinyl figures, could easily be $45, and then also paying 20% US -> EU import fees plus $11 admin fee, we are looking at $245 + $45 + $49 + $11 = $350. That's quite a price hike for 'only' a $10 price increase to cover a tariff that in theory doesn't even involve your country directly...
Obviously I hope I'm wrong, but yeah...
He looks a bit squat/stout in that promo image, maybe because the BAMF doll looks gigantic. Personally I'd have preferred more BAMF smoke / facial expressions over the BAMF doll, as I'm doubtful to do anything with it, plus for any character that might hold it, it would have been much smaller. Either way, I've resolved that this is my final "must have" Mondo figure from the X-Men line, we'll see what the prices look like given that we're hearing about possible tariff changes again w/ China (this time lessening perhaps). I plan on ordering him. I love that there's at least the 92 head, which is how I'll be displaying mine when he's not in box. The posed promo images look a bit better. My main concern is that they're going to make him short while stocky looking, but it's not enough to deter me. Planning to order tomorrow morning.
Yeah, just checked and it's as I feared, no free shipping anymore and so in reality it's a massive price increase for customers outside the US, (shipping is $47 for me, but there will be US->EU import fees on top later on). lt's also a fairly large price increase for US customers too, as they will have a separate tariff charge and will also have to pay a smaller shipping charge.
I'm going to have to cut way back on my Mondo collecting going forward unless the prices drop significantly.
It was showing the total for Nightcrawler for me in the US as $312, up from $259 for the recent Wolverine figure. Shipping fees were actually higher than the tariff mean. They used to have free shipping for the 1/6th figures.
