I think Rogue's face, for whatever reason, is hard to nail down in plastic. I don't think any, including the DS bust, look like a deadringer for her. With the Mondo figure, I think it's the eyes that are a little big and overdone when it comes to the lashes. She often had really full lips in the show. Her hair is also hard to nail down. I doubt I'll display this figure when I get it with the default portrait.
You're right about the eyes, the eyeliner is much too thick and pronounced. Adding glamour where it wasn't needed.
The lips being full isn't my issue, it's that Rogue ,and the teenaged Jubilee, look like they're forcing a Marilyn Monroe styled pout. That's the sculptors style it seems, from seeing their work on Instagram, and it just doesn't fit here. I think if the lips were stretched width ways, it would balance out and look much more accurate.
Is that the defect they referred to in the email? Looks like maybe the eyes are a little too far apart and you can kind of see where they were supposed to be placed. Or maybe it's just the angle of the pic. Worth investigating, either way, just to see if you can get one with better paint on the lips.
She looks like she's been smooching!
Mine has some lipstick bleed on the top of her lips, but I have a different, bigger issue - I got two of the default neutral expression heads!
I really wish her belt was a bit more loose so it could sling lower around her hips.
I don't remember them advertising the regular edition coming with any kind of stand - did we know that was coming? It's certainly helpful.
@schizm "smooching" 😆 . I agree about the belt.
I'm trying to pick the most unflattering picture for Mondo. Those lips don't look centered to her nose and there's a lightened area around the eyes. I wonder if that is where the eye paint should align.
The second head isn't too bad, but the eyes are possibly too far apart?
What are some of the most extreme poses you all can get Rogue in and be confident she can stay in those poses for at least a few days?
I really haven't been able to figure out any dynamic pose that isn't mostly standing straight up for Magneto. Anything more than slightly bending the knees ends up giving out usually within a few hours, but always within a few days. He's taken out big chunks of displays I put him in half a dozen times now when trying non-vanilla poses so I've given up.
Also has anyone found flight stands for 1:6 scale figures yet? All of the ones I've tried are just too weak. Flight stands would solve the leg joint issues I'm having with Mags and Rogue too if she does have weak knees and/or ankles, but I can't find a flight stand that doesn't seem weak enough to eventually give out and destroy a display.
I don't know about anyone else's Rogue, but I wouldn't dare put her on a shelf without a stand. Her hips feel too loose for long term standing. I've seen people use flight stands with Hot Toys, but Magneto must be heavier than your typical HT figure.
@schizm yeah, they include that stand with all of their figures. There are a few variations on it, but they're all essentially "doll" stands.
Magneto is a tricky one for a stand because there isn't much clearance between the cape and body to slip something in. If you're a D.I.Y. type, I'd probably get a strong wire and bend it with heat into something that works. The real issue with these is they're heavy so the bottom needs some weight to it. Some of the chunkier accessories could help, or the base coming with the deluxe Rogue. I have yet to look into it though, but I may with Rogue since I picture in flight for the most part, probably just in a hovering pose, and the MONDO stand might be okay for that. I guess I'll see whenever it finally leaves China.
The Mondo stand that came with my Magneto simply doesn't work at all--the pieces for it don't port into each other and stay. Someone else earlier in the thread said theirs was the same way so I didn't look into it more. But it seems far too short to support any kind of flight aside from a slight hover with the figure's legs bent up away from the ground.
I've never had an issue with their stands not fitting together, but they're not intended to be anything more than a doll stand that provides a small amount of stability. They basically just go between the legs. Some are tighter than others on the telescoping portion and I use one of them on my X-Men '97 Magneto to have him hover above my display. Aside from that, the only Mondo stand I have on display is the one that came with Logan since it has the X decal on it and looks nice, though it's not doing anything as far as making the figure more secure.
Haven't much messed with Rogue today, but gotta say - Mondo was able to give her legs full articulation without sacrificing a feminine sculpt in the slightest, and I wish Hasbro would take some notes.
I've said it from the prototype, but in hand I still feel the same way: I wish they had hidden her thoracic articulation at/under her boobs - that cut across her abdomen is the most noticeable articulation point on the figure and the shadow it leaves looks like an animation line in the wrong place.
Also, now that someone pointed out the pursed lips, that is definitely a point I would have liked to see redone just a bit wider. I don't think it's anything I could fix with paint since the lips are so defined.
I haven't notified CS yet about my head sculpt. Thoughts on this one? Trying to decide if I should include it with my photo of the other one. Is this considered proper eye spacing. I'm thinking this one is passable and wouldn't be considered for replacement. The headband's paint isn't very sharp and really isn't that great for this scale and price.
I think that's how the eyes are supposed to be with that one. Unless the eyebrows are misaligned as well.
@misfit Naw from sideshow forums someone posted this and the eyes are supposed to be more centered like the promo shot
That promo shot almost looks cross eyed, can Rogue ever rest?!?
