If you're trying to seperate the leg at the thigh, heat and pop should work. If you wanna pop the whole leg off at the hip, that would be my recommendation, and also *should* come off, may just be harder to do. As I have not tried to part swap this new body, I don't know how hard it is to get those legs off the ball. But it wasn't impossible before, just a pain. Don't even try the knee. The construction of those now makes it basically a no go. Before, you could pop the pins out, and pull the leg apart to swap anything. Knees, lower, upper, you name it. Now, it's theoretically a whole lot of cutting, and gluing, and I'm not sure if it's even possible without permanently damaging the joints. You have to temporarily damage them, but it may be permanent with the plastic they use. The pinless joints I've taken apart were all hands or female elbows, soft plastic that moves and bends with enough heat. These new legs, I don't think that would work.

Thanks.  Swapping out the whole leg is the plan as I'm not a toy surgeon or want to have to rebuy stuff if I screw it up.  Sounds like a cautious boil and pop will be the way to go.

That Psylocke custom looks cool but seems like TOO much volume for her hair now.  I'm fine with a medium-volume hair sculpt on Betsy rather than the Uncanny 275 look with her hair spackled to her head.  I do really like that Lady Mandarin face on Spiral, as that look is so much more an accurate portrayal of her rather than her catatonic look of the original figure.  I wouldn't mind a breakdown of how that was done, as unfortunately I'm not much of a sculptor or I'd be making my own Avalanche heads.  But that face I'd argue, looks better on Spiral than Lady Mandarin.

@jtmarsh

It depends on what type of plastic they use for the hips as to whether heat would help or not. Looking at my Cyclops, it may. But if it's the harder plastic they used to use, then it's just a matter of force and hoping it doesn't break. The harder plastic isn't really more plyable with heat. If its the softer type like the stuff they used for knees and hands and whatnot, then heat may help, but it's also a very thick joint, so it would probably require the heat of a hair dryer over a longer period of time then just boiling water. And you could have an issue with the ball breaking off before you actually get the leg off of it. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it breaks. Always a risk unfortunately.

I have the RYV spiderman with the alt Peter Parker head. I'm interested to know if others have a Pete head and how you're displaying it, civilian body or unmasked spiderman? If the former what body are you using? I just order The Hood figure hoping that would work well. Pics would be great.

TIA.

Something I didn't necessarily have to do as the figure was already accurate to another time period, but I gave Lilandra Shriek's arms and painted the neck area black. This figure is severely slept on, one of the best figures this year thus far.

That looks fantastic, and is definitely something I wish they’d have done.

Hopefully they make Cannonball's blue and yellow X-Men costume in the next wave, but for now, I got a fodder Warlock Cyclops and swapped the boots. The boots don't exactly fit into the leg, but with the cuffs, it hides the little gap. The harness is from The Leader, I think I'll trim down the shoulders on it. The belt is from Nate Grey. The head is fodder I bought from ebay. I'm still trying to find a better head.

My preferred Spider-man is the Amazing Friends, so I decided to change up the Renew Your Vows. The red on the Cyborg Spider-man head to the RYV, but its not too noticeable to me.

The lack of a good face swap for Cannonball is why mine still looks like this:

I like your Leader harness idea!

Looking for a parts swapping suggestion - Amazon actually sent me two of that latest Jessica Drew figure for no reason. Thinking about doing a quick head swap for an unmasked Jess. Who would you use? I think the buck uses a pretty standard head peg and I've got so many spare heads kicking around, just not sure who would look best.

Are you talking the black suit Retro version? I gave her the Skrull Queen head, since the suit was unique. 🙂

I'd love to put Veranke's head on an MCU Thena or Ajak body, but don't know what to do about neck or hands...

i just checked this out yesterday as I got a cheap Veranke. Her head would need modding to sit on Ajak. It sits way too high. Sits perfectly on Thena. I think you just paint their hands bc you really need to be painting those bodies purple and gold anyway. I made a Skrull priest with a spare DCUC Desaad. Took about 5 min to paint the hands.

@schizm That's the one! Veranke is a good idea. I was thinking trying to get something that could stand in for Jess's unmasked head but if I can't figures something out that might be what I do!

@derrabbi What green did you get to match?

And, I don't paint joints. If the joints aren't already black or purple, I don't plan to make the adjoining parts those colors, either, lol.
