3) The belt will not fucking stay on.
I didn't have this problem for but for a while I've been thinking they really need to rethink the way they do belts. The stiff, hard plastic isn't great and the 'tiny peg into tiny hole' clasp they use is god awful.

My Amazing Spider-Man arrived today. It has the same problems as their other MCU Spider-Mans, namely the tree-trunk neck and very oversized heads. I think you'd need to shrink them by at least 10% to make them proportional with the body.
If you can get over the big heads, it's a good figure. The thin, lanky body is a good match for Ditko's art, and both the Ditko-style head and the blocky unmasked head match also match his art well. The plastic gloves and boots blend much better with the soft goods than I feared, especially compared to their first comic-style attempt at Spider-Man years ago when they used really thick plastic, making him look like he wearing gauntlets and greaves. The suit's well tailored and the colors are fantastic, another point over their original Spider-Man, which sported dark red and navy blue.
All the accessories are great and I especially like the web backpack, though I wish they would've painted the web accessories with a greyish white, instead they seem to be unpainted, slightly translucent white plastic.
Beyond the head size, my only other complaints would be that he doesn't seem to have any hands that can hold the news paper, and that the camera straps kinda suck. Don't know why they didn't just gives us a fabric strap. I can't get the camera to lay flush against his chest when I have it draped around his neck, no matter how I try to pose it.
While this figure is great for a Ditko / high school early era Spider-Man, I hope they eventually make a more adult one based on John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru's art, preferably using the Iron Fist body.
Thanks for the detailed write-up. My best friend has a milestone birthday coming up and I want to get him something that's really neat that he'd never buy for himself and I had my eye on this Mezco Spidey. A lot of the issues you have with it I have too so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks he has a huge melon. He looks like an upscale Mego figure in some shots I've seen. That combined with the fear that the web pattern will crack over time and my own dislike for how the soft goods appear to bunch up has me thinking I should just go with MAFEX if I want to get him a cool Spidey figure. I love all the stuff that comes with the Mezco, but if I wouldn't buy it for myself I don't want to buy it for someone else.
Another review of GG
Another review of GG
I've been teetering all week towards getting Goblin, and after D Amazing and Wade's review I'm sure I now will. I had also been thinking about Spidey, but Wade's video gave me pause. In the video he shows the older Mezco Spider-Man, and the vinyl parts of his suit with the webbing are cracking. I have to assume this Spidey will be doing the same in what, five years since that last version released? Yikes...
Vinyl / PVC cloth is weird. Sometimes it lasts a long time other times it just crumbles. In the 90s I had some of those 12" Medicom Gatchaman and Kikader figures. They were all done in PVC cloth costumes. After about 10 years it just fell apart to the point of just pitching the costumes in the trash. Back then I also used to make custom Famous Covers figures. I'd use both lycra and PVC. Some of the PVC cloths have totally held up fine. Others just completely fell apart and disintegrated.
Got my 'processing soon' e-mail from BBTS for the Green Goblin. Now I just gotta clear a spot for a flying fight scene with Spidey and GG.
With Mezco's Toyz Fair thing coming up, I'm hoping to see a re-do of Daredevil. I also wouldn't mind a new Punisher on one of their newer, bigger bodies, even though their original one holds up decently despite its small size. I'd also like to see some more Spider-Man villains, especially classic ones like the original Sinister Six.
Hopefully the exclusive figure is some Rumble Society thing I'll have no interest in.
The first 1:12 reveal from their Toyz Fair con is classic Captain America. The head looks a little weird but I'll be happy to have him. Hopefully they do more classic Avengers. Their original Captain America is still a decent figure, though it's on one of their smallest bodies, so he doesn't scale well with their newer figures.
Might have to see what he comes with, but I don't really want to start replacing the figures I have. I'm plenty satisfied with the original version of Cap. It took me this long to acclimate to Mezco putting their own touches on designs. I don't know if I need ultra-faithful classic versions.
I think the head looks really nice. Looks like Kirby inked by Chic Stone early Silver Age Cap face. Either way he's likely to have 4 heads. Damn Mezco for going faithful with their designs. Killing me. Last thing I needed was another line to collect.
Cap looks really good. The screaming head looks a little odd but I think it might be the way he’s posed. Looks like I’ll be parting with one of my ML caps. Would kill for a daredevil in this new classic style
One of the more MEGO-looking figures they've put out, and I don't say that pejoratively. If any Marvel character is befitting of an old-school figure, it's Cap. I do think they're going to have trouble topping their original Cap, though. That's one of the best figures Mezco has released.
Miles Morales Spider-Man
There are too many excellent Miles Morales figures to choose from. Having one in this style really doesn't feel necessary. I'm genuinely surprised they attempted this.
I would've been interested in an updated comic version on their teen body but I've got no interest in that one.
Kinda annoyed it looks like they developed a new body specifically for that figure but refuse to make a new female body or update their current one.
That is laughably bad. The face looks like he walked in on Ganke rubbing one out.
Between the early Hasbro figure, Marvel Select, and now Mezco, Miles has had a checkered history in action figure form.
