@akatsuki And you know a comic accurate Iron Patriot is one of the very few comic figures I want to get.
I have a diagram I downloaded from somewhere showing the breakdown of the Legion armors and parts. Is there a way to post a picture on here from my computer? It's actually more like 9 main bodies that can be switched around, but one is the Hot Rod/War Machine 2 body and that's already done, as is the Mark 7 which was another one.
Otherwise, I will just list the breakdown on here when I have a moment tonight or tomorrow.
I would love to get a nice comic Iron Patriot!
Β
Not sure if this is the diagram you meant, but it shows a lot:
Β
It's not but that is way nicer than the one I have. This one is simplistic computer drawings, heh. but it shows the main bodies and what parts are used by which marks.
I'll just do it real quick:
Mark 7 (Avengers):
head was used for Marks: 8, 10, 13, 18, 19, 29, 34
Torso was used for: 9, 11, 12, 14, 20, 27, 28, 31, 32, 37
Shoulders: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32
Forearms: 8, 9, 20, 31
Thighs: 10, 12, 13, 19, 27
Repainted as Mark 21
Mark 15 (Sneaky)
Mark 16 (Nightclub)
head was used for mark 32
Mark 17 (Heartbreaker)
head used for: 11, 24, 28
Torso used for: 18, 29, 32
Forearms: 10, 11, 14, 19, 28, 34, 36
Thighs: 11, 18, 20, 28, 29, 32
Shins: 9, 11, 20, 28, 29
Repainted as Mark 24
Mark 22 (Hot Rod)

Repainted as Mark 26
Mark 33 (Silver Centurion)
head: 9, 20, 31
Chest: 8, 31 (with a round chest RT)
Thigh: 8
Shins: 8, 13, 32
Repainted as Mark 30
Mark 35 (Red Snapper)
head: 36
Shoulders: 34, 36
Torso & Thighs: 36
Biceps & Forearms: 34
Shins: 10, 36
Mark 37 (Hammerhead)
Chest reused for Marks 10 and 19
Mark 38 (Igor)
Mark 39 (Starboost)
Mark 40 (Shotgun)
Chest: 13
Biceps: 12, 13, 27
Forearms: 27
Thighs: 14, 34
Shins: 12, 27
Repainted as Mark 23
Mark 41 (Bones)
Mark 42
repainted as Mark 43 in AOU
So, basically 14 main bodies, and a lot of those can lead to mix and match repaints galore.
I'd get all those Iron Man villains from Iron Man 2 and 3! But for Iron Man himself, I am burnt out on Iron Man figures. The only 2 armors I would want are the Silver Centurion and the Mark 5. Outside those, I think they did just about all the armors I would want.
Probably the same for me. There are a few unique looking ones I'd be real tempted by like Silver Centurion and Nightclub but way more interested in War Machine mk 4. I'm not even sure about villains as I've completely accepted not getting them at all so I don't even have them on the wishlist anymore.
@akatsuki you're welcome! I thought you might, heh. And it was fairly easy; whoever did that diagram I found did all the work.
I guess the next step would be an Excel sheet to see if every armor is covered with all it's parts, or if some are missing because they have unique parts not covered here. We'll see how slow today is heh.
Because I'm a thorough and obsessive nerd, I did start an excel sheet. I found a few discrepancies with that diagram I'd saved, but still a great starting point. It also didn't list abs, hands, or feet, so I'm going through the armors one by one again. The Hot Toys REALLY help.
It's a fun little project though since I just like figuring stuff like this out.
Okay.... here are my findings.
Unique/base armors:
- Mark 7 (Avengers)
- Mark 15 (Sneaky) (no parts reused)
- Mark 16 (Nightclub)
- Mark 17 (Heartbreaker)
- Mark 22 (Hot Rod) (also shares a body with War Machine mark 2/Iron Patriot, produced as a figure)
- Mark 25 (Striker)
- Mark 33 (Silver Centurion)
- Mark 35 (Red Snapper)
- Mark 37 (Hammerhead)
- Mark 38 (Igor) (no parts reused)
- Mark 39 (Starboost)
- Mark 40 (Shotgun)
- Mark 41 (Bones) (no parts reused)
- Mark 42 (Autonomous Prehensile Propulsion Suit) (no parts reused, until AOU)

You're welcome. It's pretty fascinating to me really, how much they reused stuff. Especially the mark 7. The legion is lousy with 7 parts!
We can make better guesses at the 2024 waves now:
Question for all ya'll who've managed to slim down your collection a bit: what're the 1 or 2 "optimal" versions of each character that you've gone with? I'm paring down my MCU collection a bit to make room for what lies ahead, and I'm having trouble with a few. I know it mostly comes down to a matter of opinion, but how does one possibly narrow down Caps to 1 or 2? Even smaller characters like Valkyrie- I love both the Endgame and L&T versions, but I don't necessarily think I need 2 Valkyries in my collection just yet.
Some characters, like Spidey, I won't even bother with. I like the character, and each suit enough that I don't mind a line-up of them. But others gotta go. So what are your guys' set-ups like? Help me see reason here.

Not to be all "I've been where you are, my son", but... I've been where you are. I remember because it was just a couple months ago!
In fact, I had the exact issue with Valkyrie you mention. I was emotionally ready to scale back to one version of everyone, but how do I possibly choose?
I gave myself an out with certain characters. I've always known that my favorite characters from the comics are Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil, and Iron Man, and I forgive myself getting as many versions of only those as I want. Everyone else gets only one version, unless they've headlined a major motion picture (these are my rules!), so two Captain Marvels is fine, even though I kitbashed both of the Carol figures I have. I really had to get them be exactly what I wanted. That still leaves Valkyrie, which I had to settle on one single factor to choose. You gotta pick what that is, but for me it was "which looks more like Tessa Thompson". I did feel one figure looked more like Rihanna, and nothing against her but the more Tessa Thompsony one won out.
Cap has always been an easy one for me as the Endgame figure has been the ultimate since it came out. That may not be the case for you; maybe it's the First Avenger version or the AOU. Both have their merits. Thor is clearly a matter of preference as well. Iron Man, I still have Mark 7, 85, and Hulkbuster, though I consider unloading Hulkbuster almost weekly.
As established in another thread, I have a real hard time not settling on some type of structure. So if you're anything like me, it really helps to set boundaries and guidelines. I HAVE to know these limitations and it ends up being freeing in a way. I only got Monica from The Marvels and it was an easy decision because I'd already settled on the limitations. Captain American 4 I likely won't buy anyone because I already have a Sam figure, I'm only buying villains that appeared in my favorite comics growing up (pretty much the 80's), and I'm also working on differentiating things that look cool on the shelf from characters I love in a movie. The Guardians of the Galaxy are characters I love in a movie, but most of them don't look cool on the shelf (my opinion), so most of them went on ebay.
Lastly, yeah making a wishlist not just of 'figures I'd like of characters they've had' but also 'figures I'd like of characters I hope will show up on screen eventually' has helped me keep a certain focus. Yes, my Spider-Man shelf looks kinda bare right now. That will likely change in the next month, a bit, but I'm also holding out for some Spider-Man villains that have never shown up on screen along with some supporting peeps and Spider-Man adjacent heroes.
Somehow, yes, this rigidness makes me feel better and maybe even more sane. Also, I do try to avoid drunk posting but I gave myself permission. Sometimes you just have to do that. Hobbies are supposed to be fun so lean in that direction when possible.
Β
Unless they start doing realistic styles I will never want another What If... figure.
Isn't it getting cancelled after Season 2 anyway?

With the break on the MCU front I hope we get a couple catch up waves
Multiverse of Madness could still do a full wave and I'd buy them all.
