The Void being a main villain of a Marvel film is incredible to me. Having been really into reading comics when Sentry was introduced, it's wild they are going all in on The Void.
I have thought since day 1 that Void would be the final threat of the movie

I honestly didn't ever expect Sentry to show up in the movies, but once it was definite he is, I expected Void to be hinted at but not the full on villain yet. Sentry is someone I really thought was weird or silly at first but Dark Avengers (my first exposure to him) really made him incredibly compelling and I am all for him here. He was the only character in this movie that was an absolute must have figure, but like I said... I may have to just get them all. Thunderbolts is Dark Avengers adjacent, so may allow myself heh.
There are a startling amount of similarities with the first shitty Suicide Squad film. Obviously villains as heroes to start, and then the major villain being this all powerful being threatening to wipe out an entire city...

Very true, which I don't take as a red flag. But another thing, just speculation, but it soooorta feels like this movie is one of those where it never slows down. They go to the place and fight and learn the thing then escape and a fight then to the place where they fight then regroup an fight, and so on. That's my guess, but the first suicide squad was like that where it all moved right along, quick paced. I feel like I'm not conveying it that well tho...
Now with more Bucky!
And yes, let that be our wave, please.
Build-a-Louis-Dreyfus and that would be one FANTASTIC wave.
No pun intended.
@schizm I wouldn't object to that. I reeeeeally try to resist getting figures just for being s fan of the person playing them, BUT Val is an outstanding character anyway.
I'm really realizing I'm more excited for this movie than it feels like I have been about a Marvel movie in a while. Even though I really enjoyed Deadpool and Wolverine a lot. Basically, I can't wait to see this movie and put the characters on the shelf.
I think Thunderbolts looks like a lot of fun. I agree, it is coming off a bit like the Suicide Squad films, but as long as it skews a bit more toward Gunn's version than the Ayer version, I'm all in. If you're going to do that "rough and tumble found family" thing, at least lean into the humor and shlock of it all.
I'm not familiar with Sentry, but the little glimpses we get look pretty promising/intimidating. I like that they managed to give him powers that on the surface look similar to the Blip, but are presented in a much different manner (but seems equally as terrifying).
I do think it's interesting that they're still trying to pretend that
I'm excited to see the figures from this one. It'll be nice to have a Yelena back on the shelf, and I may upgrade Ghost, and I'll snag Sentry too (hopefully he's not the BAF), but anyone else other than maybe Valentina, I'd probably skip a redo of, unless the figure is a real upgrade.
US Agent can't help but be an improvement if they simply give him a shield this time, but getting the colors right would be cool too.
I actually sold all my Bucky's except the F&WS one, so I won't mind having a longer haired one. Ghost, I still have the first version but the new one looks sooooo cool. Red Guardian I also sold but here I am ready to get him again.
Sentry's powers are kinda hard for me to really define even reading several comics with him. But it's sorta like he uses his powers to appear to have Superman's power set, but it's definitely more than that.
Thunderbolts* looks like SO MUCH FUN. I hope to gain a greater appreciation for Taskmaster and Ghost, who really didn’t have enough time to shine in their respective debuts.
Based upon their amount of time in the trailer, I'm worried for these two characters. It almost feels like they may be early deaths, but of course I'm just speculating.
As far as figures from this movie go, the only one I'd really want is Contessa of course, which they probably won't make.
Taskmaster I get, though I feel she still isn't a definite early casualty. She may have a b plot away from the others or something. Ghost though, she's in almost every scene the others are in.
I certainly hope that the Ghost characters sticks around. I read that the actress had to give up a couple of major roles for this one, including the lead in the upcoming Red Sonja movie. That would be a major bummer if they turned around and killed her off after she had to miss out on starring roles in other films.
She was really good in a show I watched on the SyFy channel several years ago, but I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head. She and the guy that played Iceman in the early Fox X-Men movies and Jimmy Olsen on Smallville were the 2 main stars. Wow, I'm getting old in that I can't remember the name of the show or the names of the actor/actress. LOL!
Update: I had to google it, Killjoys starring Hannah John-Kamen and Aaron Ashmore. It also wasn't Aaron that played Iceman, it was his twin brother Shawn. My bad, I apologize. Aaron did play Jimmy on Smallville, though.
The Sentry is interesting in that he seemingly has an endless potential powerset but is severely impacting by his schizophrenia. The Void is a manifestation of his own creation. I hope the movie maintains this because it's an interesting dynamic. Initially, he is a Superman type character, but as time goes on it's revealed that he can make the world forget who he is (he may have had some help with that from Reed and Strange?) and create villains from nothing without even being aware of it. He's also very easy to manipulate, which seems to be what's happening in this film.
The chick playing Ghost I'm not thrilled with as she played Jill Valentine in the last Resident Evil movie and was... atrocious. The movie in general was bad, with almost every character in no way resembling their game counterpart, but she was particularly terrible in that. She was fine in Ant Man though. I hope they give her character some cool moments - lots of potential with her powers.
