Lizard's release date isn't until AUGUST? WTH? I certainly hope that moves up way more than the customary Hasbro two-to-three months bump.

@schizm Releasing a brisk 3 and half years after the movie, which used his design from a movie 13 years ago.

And re-using at least some parts from a figure based on that design, also 13 years ago.

Lizard should have been one of the first of the "oh damn, we didn't know about those either" figure releases.

To be fair, it will end up shipping before August. But still likely not until like, May or something

Didn't have any luck finding leftover Infinity Saga Bruce Banners at Ross during my trip home, but he's down to just under $16 on Walmart's site, so I bit the bullet. I keep forgetting to cancel my WalMart+ so he came out to just over $17 with shipping and tax, which I think is fair enough. It feels a little silly nitpicking over $7ish, but here we are. I'll be happy to finally have him.

Is this the place to discuss What If? My daughters and I have been repeatedly watching the latest season as well rewatching favorites from previous seasons (for some reason, my older daughter adores Supreme Dr. Strange).

My daughters are asking me for a figure of Byrdie. And they absolutely love the Howard the Duck and Darcy episode.

Lots of toyetic character designs from seasons 2 and 3 that my household wishes would get figures.

Got Bruce the other day, and he's nice. His arm immediately came off when I pushed him out of the plastic tray, but it was easy enough to get back on. The decision to not give him a single accessory is still a bit odd, but likeness-wise he's fantastic. I'm glad to finally update the MCU Banner from ages ago.

Haven't watched a single episode from this last season of What If? and what I've heard has been quite mixed. Then again, I was never really wow'd by the series. I can think of only a couple episodes where I was actually entertained. Everything else felt like a retread or just didn't interest me. For a series about the endless possibilities of the universe, it did feel oddly contained. I know they were working with the limited batch of characters already introduced, and it gave some side characters some fun bits of spotlight, but it would've been fun to see other new characters introduced, even if they weren't going to become the true MCU versions. But I digress. I think the only What If? figures I've kept are Howard (to go with the Guardians) and the Watcher. I'd take a Kahhori, but I can't really think of any other figures I really want/need. The Zombies were cool, but other than Cap, were a little too similar to the original figures, so didn't feel "new" enough, and became victims of my downsizing. But I'd consider any zombies they want to give us from the upcoming series.

All of this was mostly true of the What If comic as well, and the comics had far more characters and stories to draw from for content.

There should simply not be three seasons of this show yet.  The MCU needs more content to support that many alternates to what we've already seen, so the writers are really having to scrape the bottom of the barrel to come up with stories.  They should only be releasing new seasons of this show once every 3 to 5 years at this point.

All of the most popular What If issues from the comics had one of two things that were true about them-they were an alternate version of a very popular character and/or story, or they introduced some character that ended up being popular.  Examples of the most popular What If comic stories are what if Wolverine killed the Hulk, what if Jane Foster became Thor, or what if Venom bonded with Deadpool.  Captain Carter has been somewhat popular as a new character in the MCU version of What If, but other than that the most popular MCU characters haven't really been in the show enough.  Not sure why they haven't had Spidey in more than they have, and even Fox Wolverine has some potential for great What If episodes.

Since this season is the final one for the show, they should do a What If movie, What If Marvel Had All The Rights in 2008?

THAT is an interesting starting point. What if you wrote it?

@schizm haw. I would consider if I had time for it. But sometimes I say something like that then it gets stuck in my head and six weeks later I have a script done.

Maybe I'm cynical, but if they had all of the rights in 2008 then I doubt they would have made the Iron Man movie and instead would have chosen a reboot of one of the other "well known" Marvel movie franchises at the time. If the public wasn't ready for another interpretation of say the X-Men, Spider-Man or the Fantastic Four at the time then perhaps the MCU never even has a successful launch at all. It's possible that not having those franchises available to them actually made the MCU as we know it possible.

I remember that one of the big talking points back then was that they were focusing on "lesser known" characters because they didn't have the rights to the major franchises. Now I'm a comic guy, so in no world are Iron Man or any of the key Avengers considered B-listers to me personally, but I remember that was the public perception back in those early days.

They probably would have made something similar to Wolverine: Origins or Spider-Man: Homecoming first.  Those are Marvel's main two A++ characters, which is why they didn't have the rights to them in the first place since they had to sell those off in the mid-1990s fire sale due to Marvel's bankruptcy.

The Avengers were a B-list property by the 2000s, and they hadn't been sales leaders for quite a while before the MCU brought them back to the forefront.  I was shocked when I heard they were doing the Iron Man film because his comic title had mediocre sales for a decade or two before the film was announced.  It sold well enough to keep going, but it paled in comparison to the sales of Spidey or the X-Men.

I always wondered by Fox bought Fantastic Four and Daredevil before the Avengers.  Those comic titles were also lackluster compared to Spidey and the X-Men.

Nah, I'm sure that's true that marvel wouldn't have built itself on the lesser known when they started out. Maaaaaaaaybe they would have just jumped into Avengers along with X-Men and Spider-Man, but Iron Man (I remember a review in 2008 referred to him as a C list hero even) probably wouldn't get a solo movie until phase four, heh.

But in a perfect world, they have all the rights and roll out movies with that Multiverse Saga enthusiasm of trying everything so we get phase one PLUS X-Men, FF, Spiderman, and Daredevil.

Daredevil: Born Again trailer has be itching and hoping for a new Legends MCU Daredevil ASAP. I have the first figure, but it's proportions are not great and its based on the Season 1 suit, that I think that helmet was inferior to the Season 2 onward versions.
