Same. I don't collect MCU, so they're an easy pass, but damn if they don't look amazing.Very cool they showed the Cap 4 figures. It's what I expected and I'm passing on them but they look fantastic.
Wolverine is my figure of the year. I have the mask on mine. He just looks so good
I'm keeping the unmasked head on mine, it's really well done. Here's hoping we get Billy from Agatha. I'd take Rio/Her Other Name too. Then again, we're still waiting for Echo...
Has anyone seen these new Infinity Saga Blokees figures? They're blind box which is always a little frustrating. BUT with the MCU Legends being dramatically slowed down I've had the itch to collect something else. Just 2 series in and this quite a nice line up already.
It looks like they were mainly doing Transformers so at first I was worried about their abilities to do maskless humans but Doctor Strange looks nice. It's giving Disney Toy Box a little.
I'm kinda on the fence. On the one hand I want to wait a couple series to see how deep they plan to go, like will we get a Darcy Lewis in this collection? Seeing Iron Monger so soon gives me hope but he's armored too so idk. On the other hand it is always fun to get in on something on the ground floor and start fresh. Plus if these things take off I don't wanna have to pay crazy prices to back track.
I need something to scratch the itch that Hasbro isn't scratching. What do yall think about this new line?
I get that impulse... I guess it's come to this, huh? heh.
Interesting. I don't hate them, per se, but blind boxes are something I really can't get into anymore. I learned my lesson by getting burned one too many times (okay, maybe more like ten too many times). I'd rather pay a bit more and know what I'm getting than end up with like 6 of the same figure. Especially for lines aimed at kids, I don't see them going too deep. A kid might like Luis or Darcy and think they're funny, but they probably wouldn't implement them much into action scenarios in their head.
Luckily, I haven't felt too much of a void without Marvel Legends to collect. I know there's plenty more coming out soon, and goodness knows I have enough other lines to steal my money.
I get that impulse... I guess it's come to this, huh? heh.
Hahaha. Yes, it has come to this!
Idk, I've just REALLY been enjoying Agatha All Along and it's got my MCU juices flowing. Couple that with the arrival of Deadpool, Wolverine, Colossus and the Outriders plus the BNW preorders. I'm falling back in love with collecting figures of the MCU but Hasbro is so unpredictable right now that I might be trying to see if the grass is greener elsewhere lol.
So much of the fun of collecting for me has been the "possibilities." Sure we're gonna get Iron Man and Wolverine but what villians or what side characters are possible. How big can this collection truly get? Watching each new MCU project and hoping to see these characters in figure form. Or going back and being able to say i have the entire cast of this movie. Before the pandemic this line felt FULL of possibilities. I think I'm trying to catch that high again ya know?
@joshuakat I definitely get that. I did a mini-purge on Black Series the last couple months and also got my marvel stuff down to real bare bones, and went all-in on Joe Classified, and I'm loving that. Every purchase is such a thrill and I'm adjusting them nearly daily still, just having a ball. I even, because I'm such a thorough nerd, had to go and create my own damned file cards for them to solidify my shelf canon heh.
That's awesome!! I'm glad you're able to find that joy in the Joe line!! There's really nothing like being full in on a toy line. Especially when it's new to you and you get to do the deep dive of watching YouTube reviews, finding forums, tracking down the different waves. I will say for all gripes with Hasbro's handling of the MCU right now it truly is a great time to be a toy collector. I always wonder what will be the next big property that warrants a huge thriving toy line.
I struggle with not going all-in on the Joe line daily. I've limited myself to just getting the high profile retro figures and every Snake Eyes. They are very well done. I hope they use the Shockwave sculpt to make a generic SWAT guy which would be a must for Legends photos.
I've been seeing a ton of people mod bare arms on Wolverine. Using the Legacy Logan figure looks good but they don't plug in properly and just fall out unless you mod them with epoxy or something. Not for me. I have some Love and Thunder Thor arms to try, but it makes me wish Hasbro would hurry up and announce an official and inevitable release of the sleeveless version so I don't need to bother.
I have filled that void of lack of MCU figures with Transformers. Mainly G1 and characters from Headmasters, Super God Masterforce, and Victory. The GI Joe line looks cool, but I was always more a Transformers guy
I felt a pull toward Transformers but couldn't convince myself to go for it. Joes really took over for me... Much like 40 years ago I guess.
I posted about this in the general thread, but I will also cover it here: I am betting Thunderbolts and FF both end up with BAF waves. Thunderbolts has enough characters and reuse potential to make that easily work, and I can see Void being the BAF if Void is in the movie. I do hope they do Val if it's a full movie BAF wave. Only time we'd ever get her IMO
FF you start with the FF as a baseline. So you're halfway to a BAF wave anyway. So that could end up a mixed wave or full MCU wave or maybe they do something whacky like they did MoM. Either way, I see that as a wave. I hope we at least get Silver Surfer on top of the FF. Another option to stretch this out go 7 figures: do The Thing, Reed, Sue, Johnny, Invisible Sue, Flame On Johnny, and Silver Surfer. In this option, 2 figures are essentially nearly all reuse with added effects or translucent parts.
Galactus is probably too big for BAF. Maybe they do that new deluxe model with hin at some point if the movie does well. I don't know. I can see maybe another herald assuming the movie has multiple as a BAF. I can see a comic related FF character. Maybe something like Herbie or, my dark horse option, maybe even the Fantasticar. I can see options, so I see that as a wave. The Thing COULD be a BAF, but I think he ends up the double pack figure that has no BAF piece
Yeah... Transformers is a thing I just could never get into. Loved comics, loved, loved, loved Star Wars, loved G.I. Joe. I enjoyed the Transformers cartoons well enough (not as much as He-Man, GI Joe or Thundercats) - but the toys did nothing for me at all. Still that way. I look at them and just don't see it - they don't appeal to me.
Good thing too, I spend way too much on toys as it is.
