Thunderbolts* is the first thing to get me really excited about MCU again. I anticipate some inevitable tie ins with Captain America: Brave New World.
That would make a lot of sense, but Marvel doesn't seem to be doing that much. Also, I see no indication of that happening. I don't think the two movies have any characters in common.
I do hope they get around to making figures of the entire team, but I must be missing something.. who is Bob? Trailer is the first time I've heard of this character.
If you don't know, there's little to clue you in though you do get a quick glimpse of his emblem in the trailer.
I don't know why my mind went straight to Bob the Hydra agent that works with Deadpool. And wasn't this Bob supposed to be played by Steven Yeun from The Walking Dead?
@normdapito Correct. He bailed though, but apparently Marvel has had talks with him for something else, possibly.
With the way this movie has had it's scheduling yanked all over the place, it would be so much easier for Hasbro to do it as a self-contained wave. And they also will have had a year to get them made.
But... Yelena is on clearance, US Agent is on clearance, Ghost is still on clearance five years later! Taskmaster and Red Guardian sold pretty well? Bucky is still available at Ollie's. I guess JLD really does have to carry the team.
A Yelena that isn't reuse and has updated articulation would sell better. US Agent was inaccurate and could be done much better. Ghost came with a boring civilian in a 2 pack, I'm convinced would have sold well as a single pack. The last Bucky was pretty popular up here in Canada, and if the character is bad ass in the film I could see any potential figure release doing well. If this movie is good, the previous peg warming figures of these characters would be little indication how well the new ones do.
@enforcer Even with the inaccuracies, if US Agent had come with a shield, I would have grabbed one. This one is a definite for me.
Yelena, US Agent, and Sentry are my guaranteed pickups so far. I may end up getting some of the others, but I prefer most of their previous looks. Taskmaster’s new helmet is pretty cool though
@sound_swipe right. After the initial, "oh boy, new stuff!" excitement died down, I'm sticking with the Ghost I have and don't need two Ghosts. And I got rid of Red Guardian once already, so I'm probably skipping that one even if I enjoy his character. I don't NEED another Bucky but he's the big maybe anyway.
I would be in for anyone I don't already have, US Agent and maybe Taskmaster. I am pretty happy with my Hawkeye Yelena, I have several good Bucky figures, and happy with Ghost. Sentry or Val are instant buys. US Agent I would be happy to upgrade. Taskmaster has standing issues for me, so I would maybe get the new one hoping she stands better
If they held to how things used to play out, we'd be seeing Cap 4 figures sometime in the next few months, and Thunderbolts figures maybe in January. I know those days are behind us now, though.
Can't say that I'm excited for the movie, yet, but the trailer for Thunderbolts* was good. That said, the only characters I might be interested in figure-wise are Bucky and Taskmaster. While Bucky has easily been one of my favorite MCU characters, I just haven't bothered getting around to buying one of his figures. Doesn't help that the vast majority of my ML collection is comics-based. As for Taskmaster, I'm liking the look of the new costume, but I do wish we had a clearer look at it. My interest will also ultimately depend on how she's characterized in this movie. I'm hoping for a bit more... personality than the last time we saw her, lol.
I'm probably just in for "Bob" and Val, if they make her. I'm happy enough with the figures the others already have. Maaaaaaybe Yelena.
Great teaser trailer. I’d definitely buy MCU figures of Ghost and Taskmaster.
I would love it if we got figures of classic comic Ghost and an updated figure of Ghost’s comic book Thunderbolts costume as well.
but I must be missing something.. who is Bob? Trailer is the first time I've heard of this character.
Robert "Bob" Reynolds is The Sentry.
At least, that's the prevailing theory.
I wouldn't call it a theory (hypothesis). Sentry had already been announced as being in the film, and IMDB has him confirmed in the credits. There's a scene in the trailer where his clothes are riddled with what appear to be bullet holes shown below, and given that he's somewhat similar to Superman that makes sense.
I didn't even remember his real name and didn't know who he was when they called him Bob, but as soon as I saw the bullet holes it seemed obvious. The only uncertain question with the character is whether or not we see the Void in the film. I'm guessing yes, but who knows.
