Also got Carnage and his butt is uneven. 🙂 His right cheek is much bigger and more pronounced than the left. This might be movie accurate - I don't intend to revisit Venom 2 to check - but it made me laugh. And I know he's a symbiote and symmetry doesn't matter - this is not a criticism.
SO much fun posing these tendrils on both of these Carnages.
Yea, he's WAAAY too big for Carnage at like 9 inches, which is accurate to the film. Who cares. The comic doesn't usually show him that big, but the symbiote COULD add additional bulk to make him huge as compared to Kletus Cassady if the artists had thought to do that, so it's easy for me to justify substituting these movies figures in with comic figures.
Yeah, I got movie Carnage, too. I agree that he is awesome! The sculpting is so cool—holes in his jaws and hands like the symbiote is actively moving around. The blades hands are epic. And the tendrils are fun, bendy, and dynamic. Such a fantastic figure.
Can't wait to get my Carnage. Amazon has pushed him back a couple times- he's currently supposed to be here Monday, but hasn't shipped yet, so I'm not holding my breath. But he does look sweet in those pics! I could never really get my original movie Venom to stand that well either, so he's on the bottom shelf of the MCU shelf with the other Fox properties, so he can lean against the level above, which hangs slightly lower. I imagine I'll do the same with ol' Carnie here.
@joshsquash729 I did something similar, using the above shelf, for Norman.
Carnage is now supposed to come today. Looking forward to seeing how I can fit him in there
Think we'll see anything from this? I hope so!
Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along | Teaser Trailer | Disney+ (youtube.com)
I mean... what was the last live action Disney+ project that got figures - She-Hulk got one. We got Nick Fury and Talos from Secret Invasion which was an early 2023 release. Loki Season 2 didn't get the figure treatment. Echo didn't get a single figure. I don't know if they are going to have enough faith in Agatha to have it carry a wave.
If I had to bet money I'd say the next Disney+ show with a shot is Daredevil next March... but maybe they'll do another D+ mix and match catch up wave where they drop in an Echo, a couple of things from What If, a Werewolf By Night (to go with the Man Thing they are dropping) and a couple of figures from Agatha. It could happen I guess...
Right, it could happen but I'm not optimistic. I imagine a lot of people would be upset about MCU Agatha getting two figures while comic Agatha gets the shaft as well. I do hope Born Again ushers in more tv figures but who the hell knows what they're doing anymore?
I stopped trying to predict what Hasbro is doing at this point MCU side
Right. I still do expect a Deadpool wave but man... Hey, maybe not. Maybe my mutant shelf is gonna only ever have Wade.
I can see why Hasbro is regrouping on the D+ side. The Khonshu wave sold pretty poorly as did the Hydra Stomper. I say this based on how many of those characters went to deep clearance - and still remain in stock in many places. And the sad thing is a lot of those figures were pretty fantastic - Agatha, Hydra Stomper 2.0, Gamora, Khonshu, Jimmy was all he needed to be.
That, plus the lack of headliner characters left - Loki is arguably the only one? And his new costume lasted a scene. Same with Maya (and I don't even want her final battle costume that her grandma made in a few hours when it would actually take a couple weeks? Oh, and the grandma is also kidnapped at this point? Whatever.)
Now, I absolutely want more! I want Renslayer with Miss Minutes and a S2 Loki, but that's all I really need from that show (though I would take the TVA Temporal Suit as a BAF). Maya was better on Hawkeye and I think Marvel will pretend Echo doesn't exist from this point forward. Werewolf by Night is also missing, but another one I have almost zero interest in.
And who is missing from What If? Kahoori, but also - eh. White Hela? A crazy demonic Strange? I'm honestly struggling to remember - oh, Hulk Hogan and Darcy and Justin Hammer and Cobie - that's a four pack I would buy. But entirely for the civilians.
I really hope someone asks Hasbro at SDCC what their plans are for MCU figures and actually gets a real answer.
I'm okay getting figures of characters in a one-scene costume when it's an awesome costume, and from their final battle. So, Loki season 2 and Echo in her grandmother's suit are musts for me.
But yeah, they can do a little make-up wave even without resorting to What Iffles.
Loki - season 2
Echo
Renslayer
Werewolf By Night
Daredevil - She-Hulk
Scarlet Scarab
G'iah
Falcon - final Falcon suit before he switched to Cap
Darcy - WandaVision
Drax - Holiday Special
Mantis - Holiday Special
Skaar - She Hulk,
Abomination - probably a BAF
This isn't even getting into the villains like Karli or the flag Smashers, Harrow, Ammit, Titania, or supportings like Battlestar, Tawaret, Leap Frog, B-15, Ouroboros, Elsa Bloodstone, Madisynn, or Kevin Bacon. I'm guessing no one wants Victor Timely.
I'm not in any way saying I would buy all of these, but I feel they're all about as viable as Jimmy Woo or Classic Loki. I guess I'd get four or five of the ones I listed, with three or four maybes there.
Yeah, I wouldn't expect more than 2, maybe 3 from Agatha, and that depends solely on if they end up having something resembling a "costume". Those plain clothes might be more tempting for Hasbro, since they could potentially re-use old parts, but most fans probably wouldn't need them. IF Agatha figures are made, I would think it would be Agatha, Wiccan, and whoever the villain ends up being (I've heard a couple weak rumors, but don't wanna risk spoiling anything). A Patti LuPone would be fun just because it's Patti LuPone, but we'll see how her character ends up being.
I do think Hasbro is perhaps re-thinking a lot of their MCU strategy. Now that the MCU is in a lull (which I personally don't see as anything to freak out about- all franchises experience it at some point), and things are quite selling like they used to, I do think they're gonna be a bit more careful and strategic with what figures they release. Personally, that's fine by me. I don't really need many, if any What If? characters that are one-offs. As for live action stuff, either big screen or D+, I'm really only after new characters or memorable, new costumes (preferably ones that have more than 5 minutes of screen time). I'm kinda moving out of my "I need every new figure/look they make" phase, thankfully.
But also thankfully, we know that they're at least willing to do little one-off releases here and there, like they're doing with Werewolf by Night Man-Thing. Granted, I'm sure he's getting released because there's a lot of re-use, but still. Same would go for any Guardians Holiday Special figs- I can totally see them doing it in a special 2-pack or something, because they could literally just take the existing figures and throw some holiday accessories in with them. I'm not too worried about things like Loki s2, because there was really only 1 figure I'd really want/deem necessary (God Loki), and it only got like 30 seconds of screen time (so far). I think that's kind of my mindset with a lot of them nowadays- we will more than likely see most of these characters again in some form down the road, so the window hasn't closed on them just yet. Like, I'd love a Scarlet Scarab- the Moon Knight costumes are some of my favorite designs, but if we get to see her again, potentially with a slightly fancier new suit (like if she made the leap to the big screen, I can't imagine them not sprucing up her costume a bit with the bigger budget), then that's the one I'd want. Same with Skaar- he's all but guaranteed to show up in a major form down the road, so why waste a figure slot on his cameo? Renslayer too, the chances are pretty decent she'll be back, especially if they want to move away from Majors (though I can also see her getting a slot in whatever the next D+ wave is). The characters who aren't likely to show up again, like Titania, I really have to go off how memorable their role was, and while I liked She-Hulk, I don't know if my display is really lacking because Titania isn't there. Now, Madisynn on the other hand, she deserves to be a centerpiece. 🤣
I do think Daredevil is a lock for at least a couple figures. I think Hasbro knows the hype around that one, and want to capitalize on it. It's also a chance for some decent part re-use. But I'd want his red costume over his yellow and red if I really had to choose, and I think because Hasbro knows his show is just around the corner, they're holding off on past appearances. And it's smart of them to do- bide their time a bit, see where they can save some money and make the most out of their sculpts, and plan accordingly, even if it means we fans have to wait a bit longer for certain figures.
I am coming at the figures from what is probably a weird approach, but my wishlist is based entirely off characters I was into when I was a kid. Before I was 18, that boiled down to Spider-Man, Hulk, the X-Men until Claremont left, and everyone else who appeared in the original Secret Wars. I'm also including a lot of Avengers and other characters who were prominent in the Dark Reign event since that's what got me reading comics again for a little while (Bucky, Young Avengers, the Dark Avengers themselves). So, I want realistic versions of my idealized comic favorites. Sleeveless and masked yellow-suit Wolverine from the upcoming movie is nearly perfect (it's the height. I can't get over his height).
So even if God Loki was shown subliminally for 2 frames of film, I'd still want him. I want Monica with the cape wings (sorry, Monica). Then there's opening act Ragnarok Thor, which I would still grab if they made him. I see the version that is, in my mind, the perfect version and it doesn't matter if they just flash it briefly, THAT'S the perfect version. It used to be helmeted Thor from his first movie, but I've gotten over the helmet.
But it makes plenty of sense to only want characters or versions that have significant screentime.
Also, with Daredevil, he did wear the red suit in Echo... heh heh.
