I'll always love the majority of the Fox X-men movies, I thought one of the strongest points was the casting. Do I want MCU X-Men to be a lot better quality wise? Sure, but I have 20 years of memories with Fox X-Men that even if Disney does drop the ball and releases really bad live action X-Men stuff (which I doubt), I'll always be an X-Men fan. I just wish they (mostly Hasbro, Hot Toys, Funko) would make more Fox X-Men toys.
I do think we're going to eventually see an all new, MCU, X-Men. Deadpool 3 feels like two guys who want to do this movie before they're too old and actually getting a major studio to back it. It could be Jackman's swan song as Logan, though I could see him doing maybe one more (like a Secret Wars) that's a more formal passing of the torch to whatever Marvel does next, but we'll see. He's 55, so I suppose he could keep playing Wolverine well into his 60s if he wanted to, but who wants to have to keep themself in that kind of shape in their 60s? I don't think Disney will be too concerned with recasting the other X-Men, and if they do Beast as a CG character then I guess they can keep Grammer if they wish, but Jackman as Wolverine will be the one that's hard to move on from.
As for figures, X-Men '97 has certainly helped foster a ton of nostalgia for 90s X-Men and Deadpool and Wolverine could do the same for the FoX-Men. With next year being the 25th of the original movie, would anyone be surprised if we see figures tied into that? Especially if Disney wasn't forthcoming with details on Deadpool 3 that could have easily been something to pivot to in anticipation of numerous cameos likely happening this summer.
I do expect a reboot too, and agree dp&w is a farewell, as well as being something to make up for Wolverine Origins. Hugh gets to do a movie with actual Deadpool.
But I also suspect Hugh and at least some fox characters to be in secret wars. Then everything will reset and the MCU will have a new status quo, including its own X-Men.
Exactly- I know Hugh keeps saying "such and such will be my last outing as Wolverine", but one of these times it has to stick. And what better time than when he's with his good friend Ryan? I know Ryan joked in that statement the other day that the plot would be paper thin, but I doubt that. Both Deadpool films have had a fair amount of heart so far, and I'd expect this one to as well. I don't know anything, but something tells me we'll see at least one other Wolverine variant in the movie (played by someone who isn't Hugh), but at the very least, we have Hugh (which seems to maybe be a different version than the one from Logan? Still can't quite tell). Point being, it's the perfect time to introduce the concept of "there are other Wolverines out there", to set us up for the inevitable recasting however long down the road.
If nothing else, I think the recent success of X Men 97 has set the bar now. I doubt we'll get anything quite as good in the MCU (but, to be fair, it's also a different format- 2ish hours versus the 5ish hours of the show, new origins vs returning characters, etc), but they know that all eyes will be on them to deliver. I was just reading they got the guy who did the recent Hunger Games prequel to write the script, and I enjoyed that one well enough. It at least had some emotional depth, which is nice and needed for the MCU as well.
I saw that too. I'm thrilled they're at least moving forward, even if it means a couple of years of phony casting leaks. I'd love to just know the roster for the first movie. And that's entirely for action figure expectations.
I hypocritically want to keep Reynolds, Baccarin (please make her blue with white hair), Hildebrand, Kapičić, Beetz (please do better makeup - the vitiligo was brilliant, and "Neena Thurman" has never sounded like a Caucasian name to me, but giving her the color scheme of Jaylah from Star Trek Beyond isn't "white-washing" [Boutella isn't Caucasian either] - DON'T TOUCH THAT BEAUTIFUL HAIR, THOUGH lol...that's one non-source-accurate concession I LOVE), and Kutsuna, lol.
Also literally can't do better than Reynolds' costumes, and NTW/Colossus/Yukio's were also awesome (Dom's was so underwhelming).
I don't know what I want done with Brolin, though.
I've never been a fan of the MCU repeating actors like there's a limited amount out there ( https://screenrant.com/mcu-actors-multiple-roles-marvel-movies/), but moreso bothered by Cable's lack of height lol. I don't need every character to be spot on to the millimeter, but some characters' defining traits are their sizes (*glares at Jackman*). And I don't even necessarily think of Cable as "HUGE" being necessary, but definitely not shorter than certain characters (*cough*Deadpool*cough*lmao).
My point being, with every issue I had with the FoX-verse (and there were absolutely things I loved because of well done adaptation or even preferred over source-accuracy - every picture of Wolverine I've ever drawn since 2000 has had his claws come out between his knuckles; it just makes more physical sense than the back of the hand), Reynolds' two movies just did SO MUCH RIGHT, I don't want to throw that out just to get all the stuff I hated "fixed," y'know?
I'm just gonna start spoilering all of my posts. I know plenty of people here hate me & my autistic rants. 😕

You know... I don't even see an issue with keeping some and losing others. Secret Wars should be like a buffet, you know? In the end, after incursions etc, if we're left with one reality, it should include versions from multiple ones. For all I know, Deadpool & Wolverine may even open that door. But I definitely agree that the Deadpool movies did a LOT right, and I wouldn't want that tossed out either.

I just know June is the month where they show Deadpool and Wolverine figures.
This fucking site... Everytime there is a new reply to this thread it takes me to page 20. Arrrrrgh!
I was having that with another thread. I think maybe the general discussion? I also get to randomly log back in now and then, but at least I don't have to prove my humanity anymore.
June IS the month they reveal the Deadpool figures, at least in one of the universes out there. Maybe not this one, but you can rest easy knowing that somewhere out there, another version of you is getting to see them early, and is very happy.
Not me, though. Eff that other version of me; I'm happy for him, but it should've been me. 😜
Also, apparently Captain America is going through yet another round of reshoots. I really wonder what, if any, of the original figures Hasbro had planned, will still be doable at this point. I don't think they've removed any characters, granted, but I do wonder if any characters got new costumes in the shuffle. Heck, McDonald's just said "to hell with it" and released their Happy Meal toys this month, a year or so out from the movie.
I don't know... there's a lot of online chatter that the current reshoots may have something to do with removing or deemphasizing the Sabra character given the state of what's happening with Israel/Gaza right now.
@panthercult I've seen that too. Could be true, maybe not. I've also read the reshoots are focused on action, which apparently is something test audiences felt was lacking in the previous cut.
but if it's true about Sabra, man... between this and the pandemic edits on F&WS, Sam is having some terrible luck.
