sorry, SW/LotR
Apology accepted.
But yeah, you already know I'd love movie-only waves all the time. Or to do away with BAFs and simply go deluxe for those. Should Vol. 2 Mantis really be worth $60?

Hahaha, hey, I have two SW tattoos, and 0 GotG tattoos so far (and have a really special Tolkien one planned, I just need the money for it & one GotG one in particular), I've just never so readily identified with a fictional character more in my entire life than James Gunn's iteration of Rocket Raccoon, and no dramatic performances or musical scores (and I can recite New Hope's entire score from memory) have ever made me cry more or harder than Volumes 1 & 3 (though, losing my own father makes even Vol. 2 hit deeper than it did previously).
And hell no. I still need an extra Gamora for customizing purposes, but my only options are to get that wave's for an exorbitant amount, or the 5 pack with only Drax's new variations as an added incentive. Granted, that's not the Mantis BAF herself, but few other waves are as sought after as that one for some dumb reason.
@tenime no I get it. It's truly is a great trilogy with, I feel, a great balance of humor and emotion. Rocket and Nebula are among my favorite MCU characters for sure.
Some of 2's more childish humor falls flatly for me, which makes it my least favorite of the three (or more when considering the Guardians stuff in The Holiday Special, Love + Thunder, and both Avengerseseseses).
And I will die on the hill that Nebula has the best character arc of any character in the entire MCU.
@tenime I think I know what you mean about 2's humor but it doesn't get to me that much. There are a lot of other aspects that really hit me hard about it. I absolutely count the Holiday Special in there as it was just brilliant.
I don't know if I would say she has the best character arc of the MCU, but only because I am too lazy to really dwell on it. She is absolutely in my top five MCU characters though. Somehow, with all the dad stuff all over Vol. 2, which usually gets me... and it did, but Nebula's stuff with Gamora was the most emotional part for me. And when I think of Endgame, the first two things I think of are her moment with Rhodey and the opening between her and Tony. If they announced a Nebula solo movie, I'd be there opening weekend.
Well, DP&W tickets are now officially up for sale and still no sign of MLs anywhere in sight 🥲. Starting to think we’ll be lucky if they’re out before the end of the year.
Gotta be one of those waves where they bypass preorders and just ship right out.
Did Deadpool 2 have figures right out of the gate? I feel like they may have come much later. I know I got the two-pack in 2020. Maybe Hasbro is just weary about Marvel's R-rated properties due to an old school way of viewing their toy markets and likes to wait it out? Though I think it's more likely that Marvel/Disney just didn't give them an advanced look at any of the characters and costumes out of an attempt to keep things as hush-hush as possible going in which means we may not have any figures in-hand until next year. Which makes sense since they did those reissues a few weeks ago which could function as a placeholder, and there's certainly no shortage of Wolverine figures in 2024.
I agree those reissued are likely a stopgap.
The Deadpool 2 figures came a couple years after the movie but they were part of the line celebrating the fox movie anniversary. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Hasbro didn't do any legends figures for the X-Men movies until that anniversary line, which also happened after Disney bought Fox. So basically all that, as well as the R rating, puts this wave in new territory. But aside from the leak list we got last year, haven't they mentioned or hinted at Deadpool & Wolverine figures coming beyond the two reissues?
My memory is fuzzy, but the earliest Hasbro Legends may have contained Phoenix and Juggernaut from X-Men 3, and those may have technically been Toy Biz molds. I have no idea if they touched the Fox movies after that, but it does make sense that the presence of Fox kept Hasbro away as Disney/Marvel did not want to boost anything outside of the MCU for awhile. I don't think we've seen an official image of Wolverine in mask from the new movie so there's definitely a possibility that Hasbro at least has a two-pack primed and ready, but Disney won't let them show it until either a final trailer drops with a look at Jackman with the mask or the movie is out. I can definitely see him putting on the mask being a big moment in the movie, as in he refuses all movie and says it looks dumb only to dawn it for some big, climactic, moment and Disney isn't going to let Hasbro steal that moment with an action figure reveal.
Yeah, I'd say it's all probably most likely an embargo/NDA thing- they have to wait closer to the movie itself to show off anything. We have those 3 rumored figures, so I'd expect those mixed in with some comic figures around the time of the movie for a full wave, and then any spoilery figures later on down the road. Deadpool and Wolverine both sell like hotcakes, so I don't think they're too nervous about any of the sales for the wave; it's one that'll sell whether there's pre-orders or if they just ship right out.
I'm just hoping for Cassandra Nova and Azazel. I'd also likely buy any of Blind Al, Dopinder, Paradox, Vanessa or Yukio if they actually made them. Likely would skip anyone else, including both of the title characters and any of the Fox characters expected to show up.
I already said it before but I am ready for this movie to be the biggest disappointment, Legends-wise, since Multiverse of Madness.Â

And Beast. *shudder* 🤣Â

Were those after Hasbro took over? I always assumed they were Toy Biz.
Either way, they stopped way too soon. First Class onward had so many figures I'd want. And the best thing about X-Men Apocalypse was the figure potential.
