Oh, there's plenty of MCU stuff ahead. Whether that's new stuff or catch-up stuff remains to be seen, but they're far from over it. It'll always be a huge cash cow for Hasbro. I for one am kinda grateful for the break in MCU figures. Like you said, JoshuaKat (it always trips me up to see that name, since my name is Josh and my mom's name is Kat 🤣 ), it's allowing me time to explore lines or catch up on figures I've been meaning or wanting to get for a while. I wouldn't say I'm falling out of love with MCU figures at all, and I know there'll be plenty ahead I'll grab, but I'm definitely a bit more picky choosy. I only grabbed a couple figures from this latest D+ wave, and I'm pretty content there. Even the What If? figures I have, I'm starting to feel a bit "over". Maybe not fully, but they're definitely the first candidates for storage if/when I need some shelf space. The only ones I may have some trouble parting with are the Zombies, just because they're so starkly different, but even those were a one-off, so they don't really feel that crucial to the display.Β MaybeΒ Captain Carter, too, if I could pop the live action head onto the body, but then it may look weird (and knowing my luck, that would be the time they choose to make a MoM Captain Carter).
Luckily, I think I'm over the "I need every new costume of each hero". If it's one I really like or it represents them well, I'll grab it and offload the old one. If it's really different (like how Wolvie's new suit is a stark contrast from his regular Logan duds), then I may keep both. With a few rare exceptions like Spidey, in which case I'll keep all of them. It's both good and bad that the MCU is starting to become like a typical comic- if you don't like one hero's look, just wait a year or so until their next appearance. There's some looks I really wish had stuck around, but such is the game.
In taking a little breather and focusing on other lines, it just kinda reinforces how over-priced Hasbro figures are becoming. Obviously there's some exceptions, but when I can grab something of comparable quality for, at times, 10 bucks or so less, or something a lot better for only a few bucks more, it makes it harder to justify, unless there's really a lot new about the figure. I think that's probably why I focus more on the MCU figs nowadays versus the comic figures. There's plenty of comic figs I'd love to get, but the price for a figure that's mostly re-use is hard to justify. Not that the MCU ones don't have reuse, but I digress.
I'll definitely pick up Wolvie from DP3, but I'll probably wait to see how Deadpool varies from the DP2 figure. I still really like that one, and it holds up quite well. I'm not one of those deep dive folks, at least with Deadpool, so as far as I know, his costume could be quite different, but the old one holds up well.
I have a pretty good feeling there'll be a catch-up wave this year as well. Probably just focused on D+, and that's fine. Depending on who it is, I'll either Snag or Pass. Once they get their act together and start planning a bit more tightly, I can definitely see waves ramping back up, so I'll just enjoy this lull while it lasts.
I wouldn't be shocked if there was another Infinity Saga line this year, but my hopes for that line heavily took a hit as all we have seen on thay branding has been a bunch of repaints and reissues of old figures essentially. I hope they give us some unmade characters in that subline, but until I see it I am not counting on it
Yea, I feel like Deadpool and Wolverine are a given, even Daredevil. Heck, I bet every time one of those 3 change their underwear they'll get a new figure lol.Β
Gone are the days of MCU wishlist. Now I'm just hoping for title characters we don't have like Echo and WBN. Let alone the current holes from shows like Loki.Β
The lack of MCU figures on the horizon hits hard. I've been so bummed out about it lately. It kinda sucks that the team doesn't really acknowledge it either aside from to say they aren't going to acknowledge it lol.Β
On a positive note it's given me time to explore other lines to collect. But MCU Legends will always be my greatest toy love lol. Idk man, maybe we're broken up. *cries
Right, anyone who thought Deadpool & Wolverine isn't getting figures is just being willfully ignorant.
I feel exactly the same way about wishlist vs. just-title-characters. I switched my collecting style to that already, but it was partly in response to how hasbro has been operating.
Like you, though, I've been spending my fun money elsewhere. When in doubt, I upgrade my Fett costume. That's been taking away a lot of potential Hasbro spending.

I appreciate your optimism. It's good that you're optimistic enough for the both of us.

And I'm definitely not out of love with the MCU either. I cut out a lot, but I still have my shelves that are sparsely dense, heh. And I still have a wishlist for who I hope shows up in the movies, yielding figures, but at this point it's mostly mutants with some street level heroes. So I'm still hoping this train continues on but I'm ready for the choices to be fewer.
Luckily, I think I'm over the "I need every new costume of each hero". If it's one I really like or it represents them well, I'll grab it and offload the old one.
Yeah, that's a sweet spot to be in. I think Valkyrie was the last one I did that with. And Wasp. heh, and Yelena.

Right, but also holding out for sales since a LOT of the figures I did get, I saw on sale a few months ago.

I'm not one of those deep dive folks either, at least not with Deadpool (I've demonstrated several times how detail oriented I am with Boba Fett at least). But from what I've seen...
His DP&W costume looks close enough to the figure I have for me to suspect I'll just be buying Wolverine and Colossus. I love the Deadpool movies, really enjoy the character, and design, but I'm VERY happy with that figure I have and I'll be shocked if they ever do a Deadpool figure I want to replace it with.

I hope there IS a D+ wave. I've planned for four D+ figures in 2024, so bring it! Really I would be happy with just Echo at this point, but Loki would be sweet. I haven't thought about how they could do this or that wave in quite a while, so I'm not even keeping aware of who they could fill a wave with. I know Darcy hasn't been done yet!

Right, I wouldn't be shocked either but I've not budgeted for any Infinity Saga purchases this year. If they shock me and do, say, a First Avenger or Smithsonian Cap, Endgame Rocket and/or Nebula, Infinity War War Machine, or F&WS final Falcon suit (which could also be in a possible D+ wave), I'll be very, very pleasantly surprised, and I'll pounce on any of those. But if they're gonna do another Endgame Cap repaint, or a repaint of the Avengers Mk VII Iron Man with unmasked head or some nonsense, I will have a severe lack of surprise and contently spending elsewhere.
Looking at the upcoming stuff, no one talks much about Iron Heart but that's still coming. That last I heard was September, 2025, so maybe we won't get a Daredevil until around then. And Echo. And Loki. Or maybe none.

Β
I'll just be buying Wolverine and Colossus.Β
Did they confirm they were doing Colossus? I didn't watch the live stream yesterday, so not sure if he was thrown in the mix. He certainly seems like an obvious choice, but he's been in both movies so far and they haven't made him. I'm sure they could re-use at leastΒ some comic Colossus parts if they really wanted to save some money.

Β
They did not, but a deluxe Colossus was listed in the big 2024 Legends leak list for DP&W, and a lot of that list has been confirmed already so I trust it.
Β
Agatha is coming this year though, so we have What If S2, Loki S2, Echo, and Agatha to catch up on. So I think a wave is coming.
Β
I bought Banner from the IS line, but that's it. I am waiting clearance on Iron Man Mk2 and maybe I would buy the others at Ollie's or something.
Β
I will be buying all the Deadpool & Wolverine stuff that's movie relatedΒ
@e-rock I never mention Agatha because we got that figure from WandaVision and of course I could be wrong, but I don't believe we'll get any new figures from her show.
I may get the WS Cap figure on sale. I do want a second Cap figure, but my order of preference at this point is:
1. Smithsonian
2. First Avenger
3. Age of Ultron
4. Stealth Suit
So I keep talking myself out of it to hold out since one of those has gotta get made eventually, right? (I know they did an AOU figure but I'd like an update along the lines of this WS figure.)
Deadpool & Wolverine... I expect to get only Wolverine and Colossus. If they do figures of more mutants I'm not expecting, then AWESOME. I want mainstays like Storm, Nightcrawler, and Rogue, along with Banshee, Sunfire, Thunderbird, the original five, etc. Some of those I would be okay gettnig Fox versions, some I really want recast or at the very least with more comicy costumes.
But at this point, I won't be surprised to get a Deadpool wave with him, Wolverine, and a villain, along with four comic figures and the deluxe Colossus. In two years maybe we'll get a second wave that's entirely MCU.
@ru1977 I am expecting 3 movie figures in the wave and the rest comic based. I would be happy if all we get is Deadpool, Wolverine, and the villain personally. Like I always say, I want the main villain for every movie to be made. No more High Evolutionary or Dar-Benn situations!
On the Agatha front
Β
I think Wiccan is supposed to be in the show, so that's a figure from the show I can see being made.
Not sure if other Secret Invasion figures are planned cause it isn't well regarded, but they did not make Giah or Gravik. So there are plenty of ways to easily fill a wave this year.Β
You're right with Secret Invasion, and it would be great if they got back to including villains in the waves again. I did hear that rumor about the Agatha show too, but still... I dunno. Any figures from that show, I expect to be more like Jimmy Woo than Mobius as far as how close they come to the show's release.
After the WandaVision Agatha figure took forever to sell even on clearance I doubt Hasbro is going to tap that well again. π Which is a shame because I like her modern look in the trailer.
I thought about kitbashing a Dar-Benn using an MS Starforce Carol figure for the height - but then I realized Dar-benn is just terrible and why go to the effort?!
Just thought of another character I would take a figure of from Deapool & Wolverine.
Daken, especially if dressed like Wolverine, for my Dark Avengers shelf.
Another Deadpool leak I hope we get to see in figure form isΒ
I have a feeling that, perhaps even moreso than MoM, there's gonna be a LOT of characters from Deadpool 3 we'll be begging for by the time the movie is out.
I definitely agree with that.
