Good points, all! I think what I meant was I don't necessarily want either one to be a one-and-done kind of villain. Granted, I don't think either would be. Doom especially is a major cash cow and could definitely fill the Loki void (if Loki is indeed finished, which I doubt) in terms of a crossover villain who pops up in many things and could even be their own protagonist. I know we'll never get a long, climactic build-up to the point of Endgame again, but I also don't think we necessarily need to. Thanos was nice, but I agree, the little drips of storyline here and there got a little tiring after a while. Even the Kang storyline, all real-life drama aside, I'm kind of like "okay, let's get on with it". It would be nice if a big bad could be spread across like 2-3 movies max that all come out the same year- that I could deal with. It would give them time to be properly set up, perceived as a threat, and handled in a relatively quick manner so that we aren't just left wondering and wanting in the meantime if other projects choose not to tackle said villain.

I don't think the MCU has necessarily figured out how to properly have a "big bad" just yet- Thanos was arguably way too many movies over too long a time, and others that could've been bigger and better, or held their own for a movie or 2, like Gorr, Hela, Ronan, Red Skull, etc. were given short shrift (some could argue). I look forward to getting to the point where a new big bad is introduced and immediately (or at least very quickly) acknowledged by all the included heroes. Not introduced in, say, Captain America, then Iron Man becomes familiar in the next movie, and Spidey in the next, and so on. Just have someone come, threaten earth, and whoever is gonna assemble to take them down. I know that's what the Avengers movies are reserved for, but I wouldn't mind the MCU doing something like what the new DCU seems to be doing with the Superman movie (and, granted, the MCU is doing more and more now that there are more heroes to juggle), where other heroes show up for however long, even if it's so-and-so's movie. Whereas the X-Men films, you could argue, did a slightly better job- one or two main recurring villains, with some tertiary side villains thrown in with each new outing, and everyone on the team knew about them immediately.

Regardless, I know both villains are an inevitability in the MCU, and I look forward to having them on my shelf in some form.

I'd actually be okay, if handled well, if they did a whole phase with Doom, having him keep showing up as a significant problem for the heroes featured in that phase. I don't even mean a guy behind the guy either, but THE villain for that handful of movies, showcasing all his facets and abilities.

But easier is probably giving him his own movie. It could be argued that Infinity War featured Thanos as the main character, but you're really too firmly on the side of the heroes there. But a build-up movie for Secret Wars, showing Doom's journey and realization of what's going to occur, and taking his own steps to stop it and/or preserve what he can, with the heroes as his antagonists would be pretty damned incredible.

Actually, I think they should not do a movie for Doom. But a 6 episode series called The Book of Doom. That is a show people would actually care about

Spoiler
Book of Doom

Anakin Skywalker I Hate You GIFs | Tenor

Unless you aren't mocking Book of Boba Fett. And it definitely deserves all the mock, but I wouldn't playfully hate you. Then I'd probably instead respond with a gif from Young Frankenstein saying "It! Could! Work!"

Hey everyone! I'm just curious if they mentioned anything about the Disney Plus waves on the stream today?

From the tweet admitting there wouldnt be any MCU figures I assume they haven't done much in the way of the MCU during the studio down time and now I've got a bad feeling about the Disney Plus waves.

They say no news is good news but I'm not so sure that applies here lol. It seems like it's been past due right?

It seems like to me, not much is happening with MCU figures. This year we will get the Deadpool 3 wave (possibly a deluxe or 2 with that), probably a D+ wave, and maybe the Cap 4 wave comes out around Christmas time (Nov/Dec). Outside that, I think it's gonna be a dry year. That's just how I see it anyway. I don't think we are getting any cool makeup characters we want or anything this year

Yeah, if we get one D+ live action wave this year, I'll be pleasantly surprised. Maybe they'll do one next year with Loki, Echo, Daredevil, and I dunno who else anymore. I remember when it wasn't outlandish to make wishlists with all sorts of supporting characters but now it feels like we need to wait for seven D+ shows to have been released before it's realistic to hope for a wave of figures.

I am betting we will get a D+ wave this year. I think we can count on at least 1. Probably only 1 though, not counting whatever they do with X-Men 97 cause I don't really count that. Now, when will that 1 wave release? Who knows.

I think it could be great to see a FF movie from Reed's point of view where Doom is an early secondary antagonist and they go on to become the FF and meet another primary antagonist. Maybe you have to tie the origins together. Reed is looking to travel the multiverse and it goes wrong and gives the FF their powers. Doom is trying to use it to contact his dead mother. Reed doesn't see Victor's damage from his mother's death; prejudice from anti-Romany peoples or understand his use of magic. He never connects with Victor fully. Tragically it is mostly Doom's fault because of his hautiness and his inability to be vulnerable and trust another.  The emotional thru line is Reed doesn't see the damage he may have caused to Doom but does see the damage he's done to Ben. Sue is his moral guide point to that realization in a 2nd FF movie.

Then see the same sequence to start a Doom movie but from his point of view. Where Reed is the early secondary antagonist and sets Doom off to his accident where he meets his primary antagonist (Mephisto?) and suffers; blaming Reed. Setting up their conflict in this 2nd FF movie where Doom's defeat spins him off on the path of an intergalactic menace. Underscore the tragedy of Doom.  Probably too ambitious for Marvel at this moment in time.

Other possibilities. Doom is the villain of Dr Strange 3. Maybe this mirrored Doom story could be told there.

They said at the start of the stream that they are making Deadpool and Wolverine from the new movie but can’t show them until later, and that was it for MCU news.

Yea, I feel like Deadpool and Wolverine are a given, even Daredevil. Heck, I bet every time one of those 3 change their underwear they'll get a new figure lol.

Gone are the days of MCU wishlist. Now I'm just hoping for title characters we don't have like Echo and WBN. Let alone the current holes from shows like Loki.

The lack of MCU figures on the horizon hits hard. I've been so bummed out about it lately. It kinda sucks that the team doesn't really acknowledge it either aside from to say they aren't going to acknowledge it lol.

On a positive note it's given me time to explore other lines to collect. But MCU Legends will always be my greatest toy love lol. Idk man, maybe we're broken up. *cries
