Phoenix was definitely part of the 85th Celebration -  and I don't have her yet.

Crystal and Lockjaw were not (I'm pretty sure),  those also haven't been delivered to me yet.

Strange/Wong and the SHIELD 3-pack were not part of the 85th celebration .    FF Spidey and Wolvie were not.

I think Phoenix is not actually part of the 85th Anniversary figures. Just the 10 sets Norm listed.

Skaar is one of my favorite figures of the year! Though I'll admit I'm way behind opening stuff - I only just opened Ghost Rider last week after having him for over a month. Heroes for Hire, Superior Spider-Man, and Ms Marvel are all in the same boat. Moving and working on the house every weekend really sucks up all the free time!

Interesting...  I had it jotted it down on the my list as part of the program -  but it must just have been a proximity of the announcement kind of deal.   And since I don't have the figure in hand yet, I haven't had the packaging to disabuse me of that notion.

But - it makes sense -  they said there were 10 and his list has 10 on it.    Venom is the one that's weird to me as being part of the anniversary program because isn't it part of the animated, carded subline?   That seems like it would be inocmpatible with the anniversary program packaging - which is also, maybe why I thought Phoenix was in.

Anyway - apologies for confidently asserting the wrong answer.

I do have Phoenix and can confirm that the packaging does not have the 85th Anniversary branding. Though it definitely isn't easy to tell. So many of these were announced right on top of each other. Even the 85th figures themselves were staggered in their announcements.

It's definitely not animated, but for that one they went with the retro carding then put the 85 years sticker on the bubble visible in the lower-right below.  I don't have Phoenix either but I don't think she has that sticker, and the packaging doesn't have it built in either from the reviews I've seen.

The retro Spider-Man cards are based on the cards that were designed for the animated series. I know the contents of the retro Spidey line have veered from only animated appearance figures, but the originals were specifically SMTAS.

There can be no forgiveness for errors that are easily made and totally inconsequential.

Phoenix makes 10x more sense to be part of this than Venom. I could be mistaken, but I don't think any of the previous Anniversary programs included figures on retro cards.

I'm pretty sure Venom is the first not explicitly in the anniversary packaging.  None of us even knew he'd be a part of it when they showed him, but Dan Yun posted on Twitter that it would be within a few days of when they showed Venom during a live stream.  I think he was responding to people who were counting the nine figures that are part of the anniversary wave and trying to guess what the tenth would be, so he just filled in that Venom is the tenth.

I finally received my shipping notification from Deep Discount that Odin is crossing over the rainbow bridge en route to Midgard!!

I've been quite envious of you fellow Fwooshers who have already welcomed him into their collection.

I guess it's time to clear some real estate for that chonky boy!

Odin is probably my favorite from the 85th line, and definitely within my top 10 for 2024.

Random late-to-the-party wolverine questions:

has anyone tried modding better neck range? I see the ball in the torso is situated really far down, so I suspect not much is doable, but thought I’d ask!

has anyone found the blue rubbing off to be that much of a deal? Having seen it in a couple of examples it’s got me holding back with posing etc, which I’d rather not be doing.

side note - really like how they’ve done his arm hair. Makes me want to get a light grey gundam marker to try and emulate that for the secret wars Wolvie.

My glorious Odin was finally delivered on Monday and ooooo-weeee!  He definitely does not disappoint.  Sure I have a few minor nitpicks, but those are completely overshadowed and rendered irrelevant by his overall titanic, ornate awesomeness.

The one thing I will bring up is the bright white fabric cape.  From the day of the reveal I had been anxious, anticipating the risk of causing irreparable damage to Odin when extricating that textile eyesore.  I was ecstatic when, to my surprise, I found it merely sandwiched in place by his furry shoulder overlay pegs and incredibly easy to remove --which I did immediately.

And, before any of you from the soft-goods-loving camp starts throwing rotten vegetables at me, allow me to clarify that it's not necessarily the fabric cape itself with which I take issue; it's the color.  I might have tolerated it if it were gold, blue, copper, or any color other than white.  The bright white just clashes too strongly with the rest of his color palette and looks very out of place.

All that being said, I expect we'll see a variety of 3rd party replacement capes offered in the very near future.

Got Phoenix from Amazon - why is the Phoenix firebird sculpted like an actual frickin' bird? It has the neck of a bald eagle, exacerbated by the articulation point, and it has talons and feathers!

Just... a horrible interpretation of the Phoenix Force, and more disappointing because I doubt we ever get a better one from Hasbro.

Also - would it have killed Hasbro to include a diagram of where the stupid bird is supposed to insert into the base? Finally got the base put together - that's an engineering mess. How come snap and snap was so difficult?

This should have been my favorite release of the year... and it's one of the worst.

I mean.....I'm LOOKING for reasons to pass on this set, believe me.....I went and googled pictures of this mythological bird and I'm seeing interpretations with talons and feathers.  Yes, there is a lot of art depicting them with longer necks than what Hasbro is giving us, but I'm seeing some with shorter necks too.  I do agree Hasbro's head looks a bit eagle-ish BUT.......I don't think I can pass based on this.

My biggest gripe is still the deeper green on her costume but at this point I'm 90% sure I'm sticking with my preorder on this figure.

The bird design is a non-issue for me. It's the inability to function as a display stand for the figure that really irks me. That single foot hole is just not enough to support a figure over time.

Incidentally, this figure is NOT part of the 85th Anniversary line.

The only part of this figure I wanted was the fire base to use for Firelord. And fortunately I found someone selling the set piecemeal and I was able to get that at a reasonable price. So once that arrives I'll be excited to put that in place.
