I appreciated the New X-Men looks for their intention: we're emergency responders so we have big fluorescent yellow X's.
@akatsuki That Luke Cage would be an excellent starting point for a new classic Doc Sampson.
I can't argue that the New X-men looks were the most technically exciting or superheroic, but I loved the Morrison era so they're essential to me.

I get it - it's part of their history. Heck, I have a robust collection of minibusts that includes the X-Men in their original outfits, their classic claremont era outfits and yes then a handful of them in their Morrison/Quietly outfits (well the ones they made - Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast, Jean and Emma) as well as a handful in their Astonishing costumes.
But I'm not in a huge hurry to build out that part of my figure collection - there's so much good stuff to do I'd much rather they make Pixie, Anole, Armor, Elixir and Dust than the Morrison era Jean, Scott and Logan. Now once they've given me every member of the various X-Men teams in figure form and they want to round back to the Morrison costumes, so be it 😉
I talked about the importance of Morrison's run here fairly recently. I agree the costumes are kind of terrible, but the stories are great. It's one of the best X-Men runs ever. I need those designs immortalized in plastic.
I actually loved how cohesive the NXM uniforms were. The subtle variations were very fitting for each character.
Yeah I'm in for the New X-Men looks as well. Far and away prefer superhero designs for them, but the Morrison era is an all-time favorite and I love the unified designs. I don't expect we'll get them any time soon but I'm here for it when we do!
Has anyone seen the series 2 cards style, that they made for these figures, using the figures? I saw it on Facebook, but I believe it was from Marvelous News. https://marvelousnews.com/252-35607?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook I found it, and posted the link. 🙂
I just received my Cabal set and golly does Norman look fucked up....what did Hasbro do to my boy?? He looks like a cancer patient and he's not responding to treatment.

I've been wondering that too from the reviews, but I've been assuming he looked better in hand from a reasonable distance as opposed to a close up. You're the first confirming what I see in the pics and videos.
What is all of that shading around his eyes for? Sharon Carter in the SHIELD 3-pack has it too.
Where my interests are concerned, they somehow blew by New X-Men. They're at least committed to making the Astonishing team, though. Coipel Thor isn't far off, either.
I know they are near and dear to you... but man, those Morrison/Quietly X-Men looks were the shittiest costumes the X-Men have ever had. Just straight movie style inspired pleather garbage. Even the terrible Ultimate X-Men looks were better than those. I was never happier than when they retired those god-awful costumes and slowly reverted back to more comic booky outfits.
Whilst I definitely wouldn’t want that kind of look to replace the more costumed approach, I like them quite a bit myself. more than the movie costumes definitely - the bigger splash of yellow, and as someone said, the style personalised variations. And they’ve got the Morrison/Quietly weirdness poking out - raver platform shoes here and there etc. Love Jean’s look in particular.

These are great! I would actually love if all MLs started coming with retro-style trading cards of the characters. Use the same art/artist that is on the packaging. They always have such great art on the boxes and I'm always a little remorseful throwing out - this would be a great way to use it. It'd be a neat way to carry forward the legacy from the OG Toy Biz run with the comics, but way more affordable.
They would just use the trading cards as an excuse to up the price. The ones that come with Todd's Toys are a complete waste of space, paper and plastic that I feel bad throwing away or holding onto.
Sorry, not a fan of this at all.

Well, here's the thing about Hasbro: They don't really need an excuse to raise prices. When they feel like it comes time to raise'em, they just raise'em. Trading card or no trading card.

Not everybody's gonna see it that way, though. I think the trading cards are a terrific idea. They seem to have pushed the nostalgia button for a lot of fans that were kids and young adults in the 90's. That was clever marketing on Hasbro's part.
Yes, I would be all for trading cards being included with the figures. I think that would be fun for the fans and would ultimately benefit Hasbro, Marvel and Disney.
