it IS frustrating that Hasbro just doesn't give a shit about scaling their figures with each other.     These figures are meant to represent a shared universe so it would be nice if they did so proportionally.

Agreed.  Does any company pay close attention to scale though?  My favorite line Mafex doesn't really do it well either with plenty of examples of characters who are too tall or too short.

Skaar is only $40, which struck me as a good price for a big figure.

And uses about 60% to 70% of the existing 80th Anniversary Hulk mold.  That's why Blob is a far better comparison for Odin--I'm not sure anything in Blob or Odin is re-used at all, nor am I sure anything can be re-used.

Some comparison pics from Marvelous News. Looks like Skaar is mostly new, unless he's reusing parts from something else.

Yep, looks like none of it is 80th Hulk.  MCUCollector24 says the legs are Caliban, but the rest does look like it's probably new.

Come to think of it, the proportions on Skaar would be pretty perfect for a long-missing Asgardian headsman that we've all been begging for...

I think that Skaar might make a good base for a Smart Hulk. Thoughts?

I would hope not. I'm not digging the proportions  on Skaar, but I'd also want Smart Hulk to have a sculpted tank top and pants.

Seems a little big to me for Skurge. I think of him as thicker more than tall. Maybe on the Controller/Classic Thanos body with overlays. Would need to see pics with Skaar, 80th Thor and Controller to really have an opinion.

Side-rant…

The lower legs and feet on the Movie Hulk and Cho Hulk are shit. They are undersized to a pathetic degree and I hate them. Whomever sculpted and whomever approved them at the prototyping stage, you are bad at your jobs and deserve to be pelted with leftover spare baf parts that litter people’s fodder and trade bins as you run away in shame.

On a positive note though, Skaar is a delight as it’s a solid example of a character I never was interested in, that I couldn’t care less about, that has been made into a figure that looks like it will be a fun and well executed addition to the shelf whether posed in a Hulk assortment or as a generic mutant barbarian to stand off against other characters. The Foom wave figure was so tragic, I opted to get his baf part loose on eBay instead, but I’m really looking forward to posing this guy with my random monster and sword and sorcery type figures

You can talk all day long about the height, scale issues with Marvel Legends but it all comes down to budget and someone's decision. Valaverse is the only company I see that right out of the gates had the female bodies in scale to the males bodies.

I would just like to know when this new venom goes on sale because the lack of information is driving me insane

Same! I was gonna post the same thing. I don't like when they reveal stuff so far out in advance from the actual pre-order date.

Is this the right thread to post about the Astonishing Wolverine? He's got the 85th Anniversary boxing, figured this was the best place to mention him.

Like the figure a lot more than I expected. the unmasked face is curious - it's got HINTS of Hugh Jackman in there but still looks unique. Nice ROM and love the multitude of hand options instead of just claws and fists. I wasn't sure if I'd display him masked or unmasked but I always lean toward the more neutral expression if I have two options and masked is definitely more snarly.

I do find it hilarious that we got what, a half dozen, ten Wolverines over the past twelve months and almost every single one has different arm hair. Not a complaint, just legit find it funny how they keep trying different designs to get it just right. Has any character's body hair ever been so hyper-focused? (Ok maybe Hercules too.)

I have the opposite experience with Astonishing Wolverine where I felt a little disappointed with this figure. He’s  a good figure but as a big Wolverine fan, I’m a little bit more biased with his figures.  Points of articulation is a big thing with me, and it looks like this Wolverine has no shin twist or boot swivel. It looks like he should have it and maybe he does and mine are just stuck?  The other thing is the upward tilt of his head is practically non existent. His head can tilt down real good though. One of the big tests I have for any Wolverine figure is how well does he look in that slightly crouching ready to fight pose that Wolverine is known for. Without the boot swivel, I can’t angle his feet right and I find myself trying to move his feet constantly even though I know that poa is not there. Then there’s the lack of upward head tilt which really ruins the pose. I mean you can’t really even get him to mimic the fastball special pose on the back of the box because the head can’t even reach angle. Xmen 97 Wolverine can hit that fastball special pose easy and is a better figure IMO.  And this is something that’s a peeve of mine with Legends and Wolverine. Every new figure of Wolverine should be an improvement over the previous. Now that can be subjective, but they should never take away points of articulation or range of movement. They can change the articulation style but should never make the rom worse. It’s like the time where they made that one brown and tan Wolverine without the boot swivel, but the way the boots looked, they could have easily put it in there and the cut would have been practically invisible but they were lazy and cheap. It’s like Hasbro is thinking Wolverine is popular so he’ll sell big so we can scrimp on some articulation and save some cash. Sigh.
