@akatsuki In my head he was more, so I'm rethinking him, yeah. Skaar's a really nice looking figure objectively.

It's so weird that Odin is already sold out online for Gamestop and Amazon (Canada).   The price up here for Odin is $85Cdn (so about $62US) before tax.  Maybe they didn't get much of an allotment, but it is strange when he is still up for preorder for you guys in the US.

Anyway he is a great looking figure, and probably as close to a Simonson era version we'll get so I will be preordering him for sure.

I don't collect Thor figures at all but that Odin looks so good that I'm tempted to get him.

Skaar is only $40, which struck me as a good price for a big figure.

And uses about 60% to 70% of the existing 80th Anniversary Hulk mold.  That's why Blob is a far better comparison for Odin--I'm not sure anything in Blob or Odin is re-used at all, nor am I sure anything can be re-used.

One difference between Blob and Odin is that they might be able to re-use some parts of Odin for other Asgardians like his dad Borr.  I'll be surprised if they ever find re-use for the Blob parts.  The counterpoint there is that they aren't likely to release most of the other Asgardians that could potentially re-use Odin parts because all of those characters are VERY deep cuts.  They could probably do it as a con exclusive, but that's about it.

Drawing from some recent Legends team conspiracy theories I'm sure it's to create artificial scarcity among you Canucks.

Or perhaps they assume most Canadian collectors won't have enough room left in their igloos for a deep cut like Odin.

I just ordered Odin.  He my be one of the MLs I've looked forward to the most in recent memory.  I don't have a ton of Asguardian figures, but a Thor, a Loki, and an Odin trifecta will make all the representation I'll need.  This one will be good.

Blob is only a few overlays and new arms away from being a Volstagg.

Also, someone posted a picture of Big Bertha recently - Blob is pretty close to her already, especially the shouting face sculpt.

I don’t do wishlists, but the Great Lakes Avengers would be on top of mine every year if I did.

Just to be clear, I never compared Skaar to Odin. The conversation shifted. I wrote that the price for Odin seemed appropriate to me based on how detailed and unique he is.

When docsilence mentioned the idea of waiting on a sale for Skaar, that is when I wrote that Skaar was already a cheaper big figure.

I hadn't even thought of that. Great catch! That might be how we end up getting the Voluminous One after all!

They could also use the Blob buck for Pink Pearl and powered up Big Bertha.

Deep Discount is showing Heroes for Hire, Wolverine, Superior Spider-Man, and Ghost Rider as either in stock or backordered (which usually means in stock), all with an available date of 7/3. Same with some of the new Joes. Looks like the latest cargo ship hit the ports and unloaded, and the deluge is starting!
