The other shoe appears to have finally dropped.

https://bleedingcool.com/comics/diamond-comic-distributors-declares-bankruptcy/

4. Is there another company taking over? As part of the restructuring process, the Company has received a stalking horse bid from Universal Distribution for Alliance Game Distributors and signed a letter of intent with the same company to buy Diamond UK. We are also actively pursuing offers for additional Diamond Comic Distributors assets and lines of business, including our comic, toy and collectible distribution, Diamond Book Distributors, Collectible Grading Authority, and Diamond Select Toys.

Not a shock, I think we've all been expecting it.  I wonder who will buy the toy division if Diamond does indeed sell?

I didn't want to start speculating last month but this certainly felt imminent. Hope they are able to successfully save the company and everyone's job. 🙁

Awful, awful news. I really hope things work out for DST and Gentle Giant.

Very sad, but the writing has been on the wall for quite some time. Best wishes to all of the employees. This is a never a good thing for anybody but I hope that somehow those impacted can find positives in it in some way.

Thanks NORM! Also, this is sad news. My heart goes out to those that might lose their job in this transition. Does anyone know what this might mean for future preorders? Select has always been an awesome brand I and I don't want to see it disappear 😢

Such a bummer! Marvel Select/Diamond Select really hit its stride the last few years. The quality of their offerings was way above Marvel Legends and DC Multiverse. Hoping a buyer sees the value in the brand and buys it. '

They always have a large booth presence at NYCC and it's impressive to see all of their offerings in person.

That sucks. I’ve not bought all their figures by any means, but the Legends-adjacent ones are still really cool - Titanium Man, Watcher, Mephisto, Juggernaut, etc. I’d always hoped they’d get round to Man-Thing, as they’d have killed that as a figure.

Selfishly, I hope Annihilus still finds a way to market, as I’ve been anticipating that thing more than any other figure for ages now.

I'm not as crazy about Select, but this doesn't seem like an appropriate time to "pile on," so I'm just going to shelve that. I have Annihilus on pre-order but I'd be less disappointed if he didn't get produced than I would be to miss out on Rexsplode and the Mauler Twins from Invincible. I still have the old Annihilus BAF at least.

The important thing though is people's livelihood, of course. I truly wish them all well. I've been through something like that before personally and certainly would never wish it on anyone. Toys and collectibles just aren't important compared to that real life stuff.

Diamond has made some of my all-time favorite Marvel figures, and there is plenty on the horizon I'm looking forward to. Best of luck to all the employees who I'm sure are very nervous as they work through the chapter 11.

Yeah, my last full time employer folded in 2023 and I had the email on a Friday afternoon telling me I was out of a job as of that minute. It’s a horrible thing to go through.

I was just looking at what I have left in my BBTS preorders, and there are a lot of DST products there.

Archangel

Annihilus

War Machine

D&W Deadpool

D&W Wolverine

Hobgoblin

Muppets Uncle Deadly and Pepe

Muppets Sweetums

I will be ultra sad if we don’t get those figures.

🙁 I hope that we get to see the Annihilus, at the very least.
