Hobgoblin was announced. Concept art only.
Yep... totally forgot about that. Didn't go to the panel and not interested in the figure so it went right out of my head.
I don't think they announced or showed off any new Marvel Select figures at SDCC. Because of the way MS works they don't usually do big reveals at the conventions like that. So as far as I'm aware nothing new was announced at the show.
Not how MS works, just the way development and approvals work. We wanted to have something there, but Hobgoblin was not far enough along for paint and one of the MCU figures we're working on was painted, but not fully approved. So we showed Hobgoblin art. Sculpt is great, though, it's by Chris Dahlberg who did Captain America.
We also tend to offer items in the Previews catalog as soon as they are ready, so while having the timing line up is nice (the show is usually around the August Previews item reveal), we don't usually HOLD items for SDCC.
Hoping to have Hobgoblin or the MCU figure in the October issue, so late September pre-order. But we'll see.
Whoa, a new MCU figure from Diamond?? Been a long time since the last one (Scarlet Witch, right?)
So we showed Hobgoblin art. Sculpt is great, though, it's by Chris Dahlberg who did Captain America.
I hope one day you can give us new updated Spider-Man figure (McFarlane Style) to go with this Hobgoblin. And maybe new Iron Man (Classic or Modular) to go with Cap\Crimson Dynamo\Titanium Man
A new Iron Man has been discussed. So has a new Spider-Man, although the Spectacular Spidey we made a while back and re-issued not TOO long ago is pretty great.
Def would buy a classic Silver/Bronze Age Iron Man
@msword Any update on Archangel release date? Thanks for always being active and helpful here.
Archangel looks so good. I'm one of those that mostly just uses MS to supplement my ML collection (boooo!) but I preordered Archangel anyway. I'll figure out where he's going later.
I'm in exactly the same boat. I usually only buy the "big" Selects that I can fudge into my 1/12 display, but I do use the Select Human Torch as my main display version of the character because he looks soooo much better than any ML Torch (have him in a flying pose on the stand he comes with, and it's less noticeable that he's out of scale), and I will probably try to do the same with this Archangel. He looks absolutely incredible. Speaking of which, curious to see if Warren will also come with some sort of flight stand (I don't expect him to, as he already has some great accessories, but that would be a cool bonus).

One thing I can't tell with Archangel is how his neck articulation will be. It looks like there could be a pivot at the base of the neck as well as where the head attaches, which should be great for flying poses, but I can't tell for sure.
From this pic it looks like each wing attaches with a ball joint, which I hadn't noticed before.
I used to only buy Select figures that were "big guys" too, like Thanos, Destroyer, et al, but man, Select has gotten so good I couldn't pass up Silver Centurion Iron Man, Taskmaster, Mr F, Torch, the new Cap...so I guess I'm just a Select collector now in addition to being a Legends collector.
It also helps (the wallet) that Selects come out so infrequently. Speaking of, each figure is loaded with accessories and is just such a great value for the money. Not sure how their profit margins are, but if it's working for them, all the better!

PLEASE let it be the Modular Armor (mullet Tony Stark!) if so.
He would look AWESOME next to the upcoming War Machine!
I love the fact that some accessories can also be used with Legends. I love the Select Classic Cap and his shield and harness work perfect with the 20th anniversary Cap so they share it now depending on who I feel like playing with.
