Cap wasn't in the store when I picked up Dynamo. Hopefully this week or next. I've also got both POed at BBTS.

Some of the recent posts have capture my sentiments about the line perfectly. The recent figures have been better than ever. Although I have been a big fan of the line for many years now, I've never bought so many new releases back-to-back. Even characters I don't care about all that much have been too good to resist.

I think part of this is because Mayshelf is the GOAT. But I'm sure there's a lot of creative thinking going on at DST about what to include and how to make each figure have the best value without breaking the budget.

Speaking of which, I'll echo the sentiment that being able to switch between multiple versions of a character is a great feature. It might even move more copies... I know I'm tempted to display both MKI and MKII War Machine. Love all the display options with Cap too.

Did Crimson Dynamo's height change a lot?  Just wondering if there's any story justification for fudging the Select into Legends displays like there was for Titanium Man.

It depends on the specific Crimson Dynamo armor in question. Some suits, like the first armor and the armor that Hasbro made as a BAF were larger. Other suits are similar in size to Iron Man, but a bit bulkier, demonstrating how Iron Man’s suit was more sophisticated because it had similar power and weapons in a more streamlined and faster design.

In contrast, Titanium Man 1 became an actual giant even without the armor. But Titanium Man 2 (Gremlin) had armor that was more similar in size to Crimson Dynamo—big but not massive like Titanium Man 1.

I think the Marvel Select Crimson Dynamo looks fantastic. I don’t have it yet, much to my regret! But from photos, it looks like this figure is in great scale with other Marvel Select figures, which is appropriate.

Bear with me for another "words only" review of the new MS Captain America figure. I've been bombarded by an influx of Hasbro merch between Legends and Classified; my typical space for taking pics is overwhelmed. That didn't stop me from calling my LCS to find that they had Cap in stock. I purchased TWO on the spot. I have one POed at BBTS, but I might not wait, because I want a third already.

I'm glad I got to examine the figures at the shop, because the eyes can be painted wonky. The first two I found had weird eyes on the classic head (not Golden Age), so I was able to pick the best ones available. They were 29.99 at my shop, and honestly, totally worth it.

I'd say this figure is on par with what NECA has been making, and for $5 less. The value is great for what you are getting. It's not just accessories that will pile into a bag or bin. You can create THREE distinct looks for Cap, though the combinations seem endless.

He comes with the Golden Age head attached to a flesh-colored neck, an unmasked head with a flesh-colored neck, and is already sporting a classic head with a costume-colored neck. All the heads can swap onto the other necks. They could have been more efficient and only included one flesh neck, but they threw in a third neck.

He also comes with a pair of grip hands, fists, flat, and one right pointing with the index finger. The flat hands can be used to hold the shield at its edge due to the way the thumbs are sculpted away from the palm. The right hand can also work as a salute.

He comes with two shields: classic round, and "heater"-shaped Golden Age shield. Both come with a wide and narrow strap meant for the forearm and grip hand respectively, and the straps are attached to a disc on each shield that can rotate, and is removable. The removable part comes in when you want to attach the shield to his back. He comes with a shoulder harness with a peg hole in the center of the back into which either shield can peg. Again, they could have been efficient and found a way to use the same strap disc for both shields, but instead, we get TWO fully functional shields (though only one set of shoulder straps). The round shield looks about the same size as the most recent ML Cap shields used for 20th Anniversary and Ultimate Cap. So a little small for MS, but not inappropriate looking. He also comes with a lowered cowl and a pouch belt, which in combination with the shoulder straps, I'll use on my copy that will be displayed unmasked.

That's just the accessories, though I feel they are the highlight of what makes this Cap so versatile. The figure itself has plenty of functional articulation, which again, they could have skimped, but gave us the ML standard. Barbell joints at the base of the head and neck (swappable), and mid torso, swivel waist and boots, swivel hinge shoulders, biceps, wrists (swaps peg into arm), ankles, and hips. The hips have an interesting look, where there's a barbell shaped ball in the hip, but it has a hinge built in. Could have just been a ball/socket. He has double elbows and knees. I was able to get him balanced in a one-foot running pose.

Paints are a little bit of an issue. The aforementioned eyes can be painted crossed. There seems to be a reddish overspray or wash on the exposed flesh. I think it's meant to look like shadows, but it comes across as a rash. It's inconsistent between two copies also. Some heads had more of it across the eyes, off the jaw, on the neck. It looked like some kind of venereal disease. The blues of the costume are bright and bold. Careful around the opening of the mask, as that area can bleed blue or black onto the face. Some might have issue with that black paint on his mask, but I love it.

Nothing else is included, no figure stand (though he has a hole in the small of his back for one), no display base. But honestly, I'm fine without those things, and have enough from previous MS purchases. I like this figure so much, I was almost willing to drop $90+tax on the spot for three copies. Without even having opened it. It was probably my most anticipated MS since its announcement. Some people may not love the proportions, and I agree, they're somewhat exaggerated. But once he's in some fun poses, you'll see past that. At least that's how it went down for me.

I'm psyched I got to talk with Zach at NYCC about this figure in person, and now I finally share his excitement for what the MS team has done with this figure. Easily one of the most satisfying purchases I've had from this line.

Pics soonish.

full disclosure - he can’t actually grip the shield, the thumbs aren’t close enough to the palm. The straps are wedged between his legs.
