I'm happy to add the Dynamo to my Winter Guard regardless of his height. It's a dude in armor so the fudge factor is fine for me personally. And Annihilus is also an auto-buy. He looks amazing!!

Personally, I'm hoping for a Select Odin. That would be an amazing figure. And Odin is bigger than Thor anyway (son of a god and a giantess and all that), so the height would work fine for mixing the lines.

@shinigami-customs It should still match the majority of related art and reference material.

@marvellegendsman Same here! Valentin’s armor is the Crimson Dynamo that I first knew when I watched Iron Man’s 90s animated series and collected the Toy Biz 5” figures! Love all the Dynamo suits, but that one is special to me.

Β

X-Men vs Avengers Crimson Dynamo is my jam:

@sepster Definitely! That Dynamo also appears in Armor Wars. It’s probably what most comic fans think of when they think of Crimson Dynamo. So I am really looking forward to this Marvel Select figure!

Also, seeing that cover really makes me want that She-Hulk and a redo of the Black Knight in that costume. An updated colorway and more accurate mail/sword would be awesome. Sorry, forgot we were in the MS thread- but now that I think about it, an MS Black Knight and She-Hulk would be AWESOME!

MS did Odin already - or, at least, his head! πŸ™‚

I don't have the space to get seriously into Select, but it all looks really good these days.Β  Big figures, articulation, accessories, paint, all new sculpts.......and all for $30 (big bruiser figures included!)Β  Just a few dollars more than ML and yet the difference between what you get for your dollar is mind boggling.Β  It really shuts down the "But licensing fees......." argument for ML.Β Β

Y'know, I'm surprised how well this old one holds up in terms of sculpt and paint. Only problem is that it's sculpted in a predetermined pose, making the articulation essentially pointless. Oh and it was also a convention exclusive so it's hella expensive! Anyway, I'd gladly take one that looks just like this but with updated articulation.

It's an alien bug creatue from the Negative Zone, not a human being with perfect proportions, for crying out loud, let it have a huge noggin.

Β 🤣 That's kind of my thinking too. It's much easier to "forgive" a perceived misproportion when it's a bug alien in armor.

Β

Β

True, but since this character has lots of reference material without such a disparity in head size, it just seems off.

Also, since most of the rest of his anatomy is exaggerated powerful humanoid, the large head just makes him look less imposing than your average supervillain.Β

Β

You mean I shouldn't simply forget about all the source material I've read in the past on one of my favorite characters and accept a hugely disproportional head just because he's not human?!

Is it just me or does the head not even look that big? 💀 If you imagine his mouth shut so that he's not "pogging out hard" as my friend described it, it really doesn't seem that oversized. Maybe still a little big, but y'all are acting like he's got Funko POP proportions.

I mean, I'm not seeing it being a problem, personally, and it's hard to judge based on a few photos anyway.Β

I tried the Odin head from Destroyer on the Beta Ray Bill body and it got me all jazzed for a proper MS Odin. Really hope he is on the short list to get made!

Yeah, but I'm talking about a full, new Odin in all his Walt Simonson glory.

I don't think Annihilus' head is that big. It looks weirder shrunken down in those mock-ups. I'd say maybe like 10% smaller would be okay but as it is, it's not distracting to me.Β

I started to wonder if Annihilus can even physically close his mouth, so I did some googling around. I found one page where his mouth is closed. That's it.

But while I was there, I also happened across this free 3D model of Annihilus. The head sculpt is almost identical to the DST one. It's ready to 3D print, so just chop off the head and you can make it whatever size you want: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/marvel-united-style-chibi-annihilus

Oh and it's a little ironic that he's got chibi proportions.
