Thinking about her being in fight mode makes the face expression easier to digest.
Maybe. I really need to reserve judgement until I have her in hand. I'm not sure I can even think of any affordable alternatives in the same scale. I'm sure it'll be fine though, she looks like one of the best females MS has made, on pics alone.
Not exactly MS, but MSWord, was the Mystique Animated bust solicited? I can't seem to find her up anywhere, but I can find Psylocke who was announced after her.
Saw the paint pics for Annihilus today. I think we may be showing it off at NYCC, I'll keep everyone posted.
Excellent. If it comes out anywhere near as good as that digital proto image, that’s right at the top of my ‘most anticipated’ list for any line next year.
Not the best photo, but it’s tough to find space in my shelf for new figures, let alone dig all the old figures out…
The photos leading up to this release don’t really lie. She’s a great looking figure, with strengths and shortcomings. Lemme get the flaws out of the way.
Yes, she has resting bitch face. More like “I’m sick of your shit, Reed. Lemme handle this” face. It’s a beautiful sculpt, just not the expression I think of first for Sue Richards. Her arms are too short. Her articulation is limited, with knees and elbows not even really making 90°.
The positives outweigh the negatives. So many display options! She has swappable lower arms at the gloves that are fully visible and phasing. She has six sets of hands, matching pairs of black and clear open, fists, and C-grips. She has two pairs of legs, fully visible and phasing at the thigh - clear the rest of the way down. She has one invisible shield that a right hand is permanently attached to, with no wrist hinge. An invisible “ball” that splits in half to reveal a post that she can grip inside, an invisible ground burst base with two foot pegs, and a rod that plugs into the base and into her back to stabilize her, though it may only be necessary if she’s wielding that heavy shield. My display has no room for the stand or shield, but I’ve got her half phasing, with her left limbs being clear.
I love that we finally have the full Fantastic Four, and that we didn’t wait the time it took between the first two member releases between all of the releases. Johnny, Reed, and Sue all came in mercifully quick succession, so I have to appreciate that. I might wind up redoing my display to give them more prominence as the first official complete Marvel Select team!
Well, looks like the unmasked head for Warren stays then. Plus Cap looks quite nice when posed properly.
I guess still no Annihilus, huh?
Did we ever hear if the wings on Archangel have any articulation on the back, or are they one plugged in piece?
I came to check out photos of Crimson Dynamo but whoa that Cap looks a million times better than the proto pics! Went from "not my cup of tea" to "I might need this afterall".
I can't say I like how Cap looks in a vanilla stance, but he looks great posed up. MSWord was right about that. He looks like he was pulled off a comic page.
Warren looks fantastic. I wish I had a bigger MS display or liked Angel more. It might be worth picking up anyway.
Had a short conversation with Zach today at NYCC. He even knew my posts from here, which was cool. I meant to apologize if I've ever come off as curmudgeonly online, but couldn't find a way to weave it into small talk. He was very cool. We talked a little about the Archangel figure, a little more about the Cap figure and the shield set up, and shared our advocacy for a Namor figure. He explained some tie-ups along the lines of what kept them from making other Fantastic Four characters since Thing and Silver Surfer are also what's keeping them from making Namor. I joked that I'll just buy their JCVD figure and turn him into Namor. He also mentioned that tomorrow, ANNIHILUS would be displayed!
