The Hulk just isn't doing it for me. Comparison shot from Shartimus:
To me, the 80th is still the best overall evergreen Hulk, the 20th works better as a classic '70s Hulk, and the SDCC works better as a '90s Hulk.
The Maximum may have slightly better articulation, but the Hulk isn't a character like Spider-Man that needs a lot of articulation. The gap on his stomach is much more noticeable. And none of the three heads are as good as the 80th, 20th, or SDCC heads. Like I said, for Spider-Man, yeah, you want the articulation. For the Hulk, I'd put a bigger priority on the heads.
I already have the 80th, I don't really see enough of a reason to "upgrade"
You didn't even mention the highlighter green. That isn't really the look I want for Hulk either. But I agree the heads are the worst part for me. They gave us 3 and I don't like any of them.
I really like the one on the left and second from the right. Those are probably the ones mentioned and they're way too expensive now for me to grab. I do have a huge MS Hulk and Red Hulk so they matched. And while they look glorious, they are also very large, and very specific looks. This Max one just doesn't look good to me.

That "Maximum" Hulk is a definite fail in my book. First of all it's like 90% reuse. Second, you know that soft rubber chest piece is going to be a problem over time. They would have been better off with a traditional butterfly joint. Third, all three heads are crap. I don't like any of them. And the weird neon green they chose for the color of the figure doesn't match any of the other Hulks so you can't even do a head swap. Also, Hulk doesn't really need toe articulation. It just makes it harder to stand him up. The only positive is that the accessories are decent but definitely not worth the price of the figure.
In that photo the 80th anniversary figure looks the best by far to me. That's been my go-to Hulk since it came out and I see no reason to change that. I don't really need him to be able to do the hand clapping thing.
It's a shame they seem to be dropping the ball on these Maximum figures. The Spider-Man release was a decent figure with almost all new tooling, but the accessories he came with were pretty meh to say the least. And now with the Hulk, the accessories are better, but the figure is meh. Maybe with the next Max release they'll finally get it completely right. (But I doubt it).
I see you guys crapping on the color of this figure but, I mean, the entire run with Peter David writing and Dale Keown/Gary Frank/Jan Duursema drawing hulk was absolutely colored this way. It's fine not to like it but to call it out as a bad choice - especially when the "main head" is Keown inspired seems silly.
Even if you don't like it - it's not like 'highlighter green' is completely source inaccurate.
